We've had the opportunity to ask Brian Ullrich a few questions about the Current Gen version of NBA Live 07. It seems a few of the Wishlist items have been granted, most notably the addition of the mid-level exception in Dynasty Mode. We expect to get even more answers and scoops on NBA Live 07 at the Community Leaders event which will be held in August. In the meantime, you can read the entire interview with Brian here. TeamXBOX have posted a first look at the XBox 360 version of NBA Live 07, mostly covering the ESPN integration and featuring some clips of producers Brian Ullrich and Brent Nielson talking about the new game. Check it out here. Thanks to Da BaLLa for posting the link in the Forum.

The Advanced Media Network has posted a Hands-On preview of NBA Live 07, which you can find here. It doesn't contain much in the way of new information but does provide another run-down of the features we've heard about so far including a couple of tidbits about Dynasty Mode and is definitely worth a read. NBA Live 07 Producer Interview @ IGN |

IGN have posted an interview with NBA Live 07 producer Brian Ullrich where he talks about the features of the current gen version. He mentions more collisions in the paint as well as players having a sense of weight and mass when they collide, which was alluded to in a previous IGN article. NBA Live 07 will also feature player-specific move packages that will set players like Tracy McGrady and Vince Carter apart even though they will both have High Flyer Superstar abilities. Apparently we'll also have the ability to edit dunk packages, which has been an item on the Wishlist the last few years. The interview also includes a few new screenshots. Read all about it here.

GameDaily have posted a hands-on preview of NBA Live 07 which you can find here. The preview suggests that this year the production team has endeavoured to remove some of the more arcadeish elements in favour of a more realistic game while still keeping things "fun and entertaining". The article also mentions better collision detection as well as a few other features that have been mentioned before, such as the three levels of players (stars, superstars and regular players).

I'm told that the NBA Live Simulation League has a few GM openings as it approaches its first anniversary and eighth successful season. If you're interested in joining the league, check out the NLSL website and sign up before someone else grabs the team you want.
The National Basketball Simulation League also needs 10 more GMs to sign up. Check out their website for more information. |

NBA Live 06 Roster Update News |

I have reached a decision about the future of my roster updates for NBA Live 06. I regret to say I have decided not to continue maintaining the rosters as they have become quite a hassle to update. I feel I cannot invest the time and effort the rosters require and deserve when the project has become such a chore. Please do not ask me to reconsider, I have given the matter a lot of thought and while I would have liked to continue with the NBA Live 06 updates, my mind is made up. I'm finished with the updates until NBA Live 07.
In light of this decision, anyone who would like to continue the updates from my last release is welcome to do so. All I ask is that you please contact me first and acknowledge somewhere in the patch that it's based on an update that I previously maintained.
Thanks to everyone who supported the roster updates this year, I'm sorry that I cannot continue them and I hope you will understand my reasons for making this decision. Hopefully NBA Live 07 will be a better year for the updates. |

There's been a few updates on NBA Live 07 posted around the web in the last couple of days.
EA Sports have posted some new screenshots of NBA Live 07 for the PS2, XBox and PSP on the official site, which you can find here. Thanks to BoLLo for the heads up.
EA/ESPN Integration Update - IGN has revealed that in addition to the news ticker, the XBox 360 version will allow users to interrupt their game to watch ESPN Original Programming such as Pardon The Interruption and listen to podcasts of ESPN Radio.
NBA Live 07 Preview - IGN have also posted a hands on preview of the XBox version of NBA Live 07. The preview mentions that Freestyle Superstars has been toned down so that players with FSS abilities aren't as unstoppable and the momentum shifts will definitely play a role. The article also mentions that skating animations have been reduced and that perimeter play will be much more important. A few videos are also available.

IGN's First Look at NBA Live 07 |

IGN have posted a first look at NBA Live 07 and it would seem first impressions are quite positive.
Apparently Freestyle Superstars will distinguish between the cream of the crop and dependable specialists with three distinct types of players. We will also be able to change FSS abilities for players like LeBron James and Dwyane Wade on the fly with a press of a button. The controls have also been slightly revamped with the addition of a shot stick similar to the 2K series and two seperate buttons for dunks and layups, as well as the regular jumpshot button. Passing will also be pressure sensitive, so we will be able to throw sharper passes depending on the length of time the pass button is held down. The right analog stick is now also used for free throws, indicating the retirement of the old T-Meter. Intensity and momentum will also come into play with bigger games seeming more meaningful and strong runs swinging the game in a team's favour (and on the flipside, calling timeouts to break a team's momentum).
On the Dynasty Mode side of things, we'll be able to begin from the 2006 NBA Draft if we choose or begin the game as normal with the rosters in place. Team chemistry and player happiness are also going to be a factor and we'll have a few more management functions such as scheduling practices and media sessions while travel fatigue is also expected to make an impact on your players. We'll also be able to set rotations for simulated games so we don't have to rely on ratings to determine a player's PT.

Exciting news, everyone. In August I will be flying to Canada to take part in a conference for community leaders held by EA Sports where I'll have an opportunity to ask the NBA Live 07 development team some questions as well as see the game in action. You may recall a similar event was held a couple of years back which I was unfortunately unable to attend, but I'm very excited to be able to take part in this one. I'm looking forward to representing the NBA Live Series Center at the event and providing you with some scoops on NBA Live 07. |

NBA Live League Online is a new draft league that will commence this Sunday. All those interested in joining should send the NLLO commissioner an email or post in their forum in the Draft Team Selection section, under General News.

Cyberface Patchers Wanted for Roster Update |

As most people know, for the last couple of weeks I've been mulling over whether or not to continue the roster updates for NBA Live 06. I haven't made a decision yet but when I do, I'll be sure to let everyone know. Something that would make the updates a lot easier would be the use of face patches for the class of 2006, as well as some other missing players. If any cyberface patchers are interested in helping me out there, please let me know in this thread, via private messaging or by email.
Please note that this is the only assistance I would require at the moment, I don't need anyone to help me with the roster updates themselves (though feedback on ratings and other corrections are always welcome). Again, right now I still don't know if I'll continue with the updates but I'll make another announcement when I've made that decision. If I do decide not to continue the roster updates, I will be happy to pass them on to someone else to maintain. |

Gamestop article hints at change in FSS |

Gamestop have posted an article on the making of NBA Live 07 featuring comments from Pau Gasol, who did mo-cap for the game, and producer Tim Tschirner. One of the most noteworthy tidbits in the article is the mention of changing Freestyle Superstar abilities on the fly, suggesting that this year we'll be able to switch between movesets for players with multiple abilities during gameplay, though that has yet to be confirmed. Mikki has informed me of a new project, NBA Live Pilipinas. In the spirit of NBA Live Turkey and NBA Live Spain, NBA Live Pilipinas is a collaborative effort that provides a Forum for NBA Live fans from the Philippines as well as hosting for Filipino patchmakers.
Los Angeles Lakers fans will also be interested to know that Lakers Underground has moved to a new home, www.lakersunderground.net. |
