The Intercontinental Basketball Association is a sim league which uses NBA Live 06 and offers GMs full control over their teams including the ability to relocate. Check their website for a list of available teams.

The National Basketball Simulation League is another sim league with a few vacancies. To join, you'll need to register and follow the instructions under "Request a Team".

This is just a quick note to say that I've arrived home and have started catching up on emails and the like. Once again, I can't post any reports from the Community Event just yet but in a week or so I should be able to talk about what I saw. Suffice to say, I saw some things I really like and was sure to bring up things that I didn't.

To answer a question a lot of people have emailed me with in the last couple of days, the post-Draft rosters will be out as soon as possible but will be a little later than usual as I'm currently working on updates for three games in the series. Thanks for your patience and understanding.

Greetings from Vancouver! The NBA Live 09 Community Event is over and I'm currently waiting to embark on another fifteen hour flight back to Australia. I will be under embargo for at least one week, after which I will post my hands-on impressions of NBA Live 09. I will not be able to discuss the ground-breaking feature that has been alluded to until after the E3 announcement. I'll be sure to catch up on emails and such as soon as I get home.

The cover athlete for NBA Live 09 has been revealed to be San Antonio Spurs' Tony Parker. Parker has previously been the cover athlete for the French versions of the NBA Live games since 2005.

And as for the international covers: Parker can, of course, be found on the cover for the French version again. Pau Gasol is also back on the cover for Spain.
But new for this year is that the United Kingdom will have it's own cover, and it is Luol Deng that will be featured upon it. Italy will also have their own, which will have Andrea Bargnani on it.

Just a reminder that I'm flying out today for the NBA Live 09 Community Event; a fifteen hour flight awaits me in just a few hours. I'll be doing my best to represent the community at the event by bringing up our most talked about ideas and suggestions for the game, as well as learning all I can about the next instalment of NBA Live. Please note that there are going to be things I won't be able to talk about immediately after I get back but as soon as any embargoes are lifted I'll be posting detailed reports.

As noted announced below, I've released the final 2007/2008 season updates for both NBA Live 08 and NBA Live 07. At this time, my intention is to continue updating both rosters through the offseason but since I'll also be working on rosters for the NBA Live PC project for NBA Live 06, the post Draft updates might come out a little later than usual. At this time I can't set any release dates since working on three roster updates is fairly time consuming but I'll try my best to get them out as soon as possible after the Draft.

Please note that "after the Draft" does not mean the second the Draft has concluded, the day after the Draft or probably even a week after the Draft. I'll try to keep everyone updated with a timetable for their release as I near completion on each of the seperate updates.

A new version (v1.22) of the NLSC Current Roster Update for NBA Live 07 has been released and is available to download here. It is the final update for the 2007/2008 season, however at this point I intend to keep updating the rosters at least through the offseason.

EA Sports have launched the official NBA Live 09 website, which you can find at www.nbalive09.com. Thanks to Beatboxer for the heads up in the Forum.

The official website mentions that the cover player will be revealed on June 25th. There's also a new producer blog entry by Brian Ullrich which you can read here, as well as the first In The Paint community blog which you can check out here.

IGN have posted a preview of the Wii version of NBA Live 09, including some screenshots and hands-on impressions of the game. Interestingly, it mentions WNBA player models perhaps hinting at another new addition to this year's game, at least on one platform. Gametrailers have posted an NBA Live 09 trailer highlighting some of the key features of the game that have been revealed so far, including the NBA Academy, Signature Play Calling, Lockdown Defense, Pick & Roll Control and Quickstrike Ankle Breakers. EA Sports have announced that NBA Live 08 has been included in the Digital Games Worldwide Tournament. Five regional ladders allow players from around the world to compete for the chance to take part in a grand final showdown in China. The NBA Live 08 tournament supports three platforms: PC, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. More information can be found here.

IGN have released some new NBA Live 09 screenshots which you can check out here. They have also posted a preview which mentions two new features: NBA Academy where you can work on different aspects of the game and Be A Pro Mode, where you will be able to take control of a single player and experience the game from their perspective.

It will be interesting to see if either of these features are the one that has been touted as "ground-breaking", though presumably that feature will remain under wraps until E3.

Anyone interested in joining an NBA Live 2005 sim league may be interested to know that the Posterized Sim League is currently looking for members. 25 teams are still available as of this post, more details can be found on their website.

Following a previous blog entry hinting at a "ground-breaking" feature in NBA Live 09, President of EA Peter Moore has posted a new blog entry commenting on sports games for the PC, again confirming that NBA Live 09 will be a console-only release. However, the blog closed with the following remark about the future of the platform:

"Contrary to some of the passionate posts on this blog, we have no intention to abandon the PC as a sports gaming platform. Rather, we are taking this time to re-define the way we bring you compelling experiences while at the same time making sure we make the appropriate and necessary investments for the future. I ask for your patience, understanding, and openness to new and unique ideas..."

While the future of NBA Live on the PC still seems up in the air, this may be an encouraging sign for future PC releases. I expect the matter will be revisited after the 09 line of sports titles are released.

I have finished the court patch for this seasons soon to be NBA Champions (I hope.. hehe): The Boston Celtics.

As with my Los Angeles Lakers court patch, you have the option to play with the Finals tropy if you choose. Screenshot
To play with the Finals trophy, rename the bostcrt (finals).ebo and bostcrt (finals).fsh to say just bostcrt.ebo and bostcrt.fsh (overwrite the old ones).

In his latest blog entry, Peter Moore has alluded to a "ground-breaking" feature in NBA Live 09 which will be unveiled at E3 next month. No further hints were given as to what the feature might be, feel free to join in the speculation here in the NLSC Forum.

Presumably this feature will be revealed during the NBA Live 09 Community Event later this month, however those of us attending the event will likely be under embargo until the E3 unveiling. As with any other details that are embargoed immediately after the event, I'll be sure to post details and impressions as soon as the embargo is lifted.

I've updated my Los Angeles Lakers Court Patch with two more files that let you play with the Finals trophy: Screenshot

To play with the Finals trophy, rename the lalacrt (finals).ebo and lalacrt (finals).fsh to say just lalacrt.ebo and lalacrt.fsh (overwrite the old ones). If you have done this, the finals logo will (only) appear on the Lakers court, in every game mode. So just rename the files when you want to play with the Finals trophy.

Games 3 and 4 of our Online Team Play NBA Finals series were played yesterday and the result was two very competitive games that came down to the final minutes. As of today's games, the Lakers lead the virtual Finals series 3-1 with the Celtics pulling out a Game 4 victory to stay alive in the series. This shouldn't change anything except I'll have a bit longer to prepare and I'll be around all next week. Yesterday we held what was intended to be our first in a series of NBA Finals themed Online Team Play matchups but due to some unfortunate technical issues we lost players midway through the second quarter, leaving Pastapadre and myself to battle it out. The final score was 52-48 in favour of the Celtics, however we have elected to begin the series again in light of the problems and some difficulties in capturing some screenshots and video of the game. A second attempt was also interrupted by a lockup.

We'll be starting the series again on Saturday the 7th of June at 8 PM EST. For players outside the United States, be sure to check the time difference.

Just a reminder to those planning on making it to the OTP Finals games 1 and 2 tonight that we will be opening a lobby at 7:30 EST, a half hour before tip off of the first game.

The room will be named NLSC Finals and the password to get in is nlsc.

As soon as enough people are in the room, the game will start. We will be using a random number generator to "draft", so to speak, people into a position so they can select one of the available players. This way we won't have people arguing on who gets to be a certain mvp, err player.

We will be running a seven game series with the 360's Online Team Play of the 2008 NBA Finals, Lakers vs Celtics.

The first two games of the series will take place on Wednesday at 8 pm EST. Both of which will have default settings and run 5 minute quarters. A special NLSC room will be created in the Live 08 lobby system before the game and those who are interested in playing in the game should log-in there. Once the time comes for the game to start I will begin inviting people into the OTP game to play.

EA Sports will be holding an NBA Live 09 Community Day on June 13th, 2008 at their studio in Vancouver. I'll once again be flying in for the event, which we're all hoping will be a productive experience with an opportunity to provide feedback earlier on in development. I will be preparing myself with copies of our Wishlist and Wishlist Supplement as well as lists of other important points to cover.

Please note that there will be certain details I will not be allowed to discuss immediately after the Community Day, so the usual reports won't be appearing straight away. As soon as I'm free to talk about certain aspects of the game (whatever they may be), I'll be sure to post detailed write-ups.

Not surprisingly, a Lakers/Celtics matchup was picked as the most desirable matchup garnering an overwhelming 73% of the votes in our last poll. A potential rematch of the 2005 Finals between the Spurs and Pistons was the least popular matchup receiving only 5% of the vote.
