2K Sports announces NBA2K9 for the PC |

In somewhat surprising news, 2K Sports has announced that NBA2K9 will be released for the PC on October 21st and will be an Xbox 360 port. This is obviously a very interesting development for PC players as it remains to be seen whether or not the game can be patched and how EA Sports will respond.
I would like to take this opportunity to clear a few things up: this site is the NBA Live Series Center and will remain that way. We will continue to provide patches and coverage of the NBA Live series but since a lot of our visitors do play the 2K series, we do welcome discussion of the game in the NBA2K Series section of the NLSC Forum. We do not have plans for any expansion or major changes at this time but we certainly do welcome 2K players in our community. |

EA Sports have announced that they are once again holding a custom jersey contest with the prize being a trip for two to the 2009 All-Star Weekend in Phoenix. The contest will begin October 15th, full details are forthcoming. |

NBA Live 09 Season Preview Screenshots |

A series of NBA Live 09 screenshots has been posted over at NBA.com as part of a 2008/2009 season preview, which you can check out here. One of the screenshots features Kevin Durant dunking and appears to have revealed the design of the Oklahoma City Thunder's jerseys.
It has also been stated in the Q&A thread over in the official forums that the game will ship with generic artwork for Oklahoma City but accurate jerseys and the like will be made available as free downloadable content when the game is released. |

It appears the PS3 demo of NBA Live 09 can now be downloaded from the Playstation Store by gamers in North America and other regions after being made available to the European market last week. Thanks to everyone who messaged me or posted a note in the Forum with a heads up on the release. Feel free to share your opinions on the demo here. |

It appears as though the NBA Live 09 PS3 demo is now available to gamers in Europe and the UK. Presumably it will be available to other regions soon, as yet there has been no official announcement regarding the PS3 demo release. |

Asian Release Date & More Demo Videos |

Further to yesterday's release date update, it appears as though NBA Live 09 will be available in Asian markets the same time as the US and Canada (October 7th). Thanks to Valor for the heads up.

NBA Live 09 Release Date Update |

I've been checking some release dates for NBA Live 09 and it appears that it will be coming out in Australia on October 9th and in New Zealand on October 10th, though some sources also list the New Zealand release as being the 15th. If those dates are accurate, it would appear that those of us in Australia and New Zealand will not have long to wait after the European and North American releases.
So far, the following release dates have been listed:
US & Canada: October 7th
UK & Europe: October 3rd
Australia: October 9th
New Zealand: October 10th

GameTrailers have posted the trailer for the Wii version of NBA Live 09, which you can check out here. Thanks to our own JaoSming for the find. Finally, NLSC Forum member SHAFT23 has been kind enough to share a couple of demo videos he made, which you can check out here and here.

It's been a while since we posted any feature articles, so I thought I'd break that drought with a few thoughts on the Oklahoma City Thunder and their recently unveiled logo.
It’s been a week since the Team Formerly Known as the Seattle Supersonics became the Team Currently Known as the Oklahoma City Thunder, ending speculation and confirming several leaks that had served to spoil what had become one of the worst kept secrets in the NBA. Since the official unveiling there has been plenty of chatter, most of it critical, about the choice of name and in particular, the logo. |

Pastapadre has posted some impressions of the NBA Live 09 demo which you can check out here. While you're there, you may want to check out his videos if you haven't already.
Speaking of the demo, there is now an announcement about the Xbox 360 version but no mention is made of the PS3 version, leaving its release date unknown at this time. It's possible that it will be available on the Playstation Network this Thursday as originally projected, my advice to PS3 users interested in downloading the demo would be to simply keep checking. We'll post a notice as soon as there's any update on the status of the PS3 demo. |

NBA Live 09 Xbox 360 Demo Released |

The NBA Live 09 demo for the Xbox 360 appears to have been released early as it is now available in the Xbox Live Marketplace. I'm told that it is not yet available for the Playstation 3 but as soon as we have more information we will be sure to post it. Thanks to cellington77 for the heads up on the release.
The demo is a 694 MB download and allows you to either replay a game from the 2008 NBA Finals with their current rosters or two NBA Rewind matchups. Look for impressions of the demo to be posted soon and feel free to share your own thoughts in the NLSC Forum. |

Roster Patch Required Art List Updated |

The list of required art for the NBA Live 08 and NBA Live 07 roster patches has been updated, you can check it out here or see the list below. As I mentioned in my previous news post, the rosters are at a point where they are close to being released but I would like to include some more art if possible to avoid the "Player X doesn't have his real face" or "Why do the Timberwolves still have their old jerseys" issues as much as possible. All contributions would be gratefully received, if you're willing and able to contribute please drop me an email or post in the Forum. |

A couple of NBA Live league announcements:
Luda Balkanska NBA-Live Liga is a league which caters to players from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Croatia and Slovenia as well as anyone else who speaks those languages. They are currently on the lookout for new GMs, if you're interested check them out.
The All-Star Association also has some GM openings and is also interested in finding someone with some HTML knowledge to help out around the site. More details can be found over at their website. |

NBA Live 09 Xbox 360 Achievements Revealed |

A list of the achievements for the Xbox 360 version of NBA Live 09 has been revealed and can be seen here. This year's achievements include the usual milestones such as winning the MVP award and having a player qualify for the All-Star team in Dynasty Mode as well as successfully completing drills in the Academy and completing various online challenges.
