I must be getting old as the last twelve months seem to have just flown by, but in any event here we are at the end of another year. Thanks again for your support throughout 2008, we've had our ups and downs with technical problems and the like and our updates have slowed down a bit during the holiday season but as I've mentioned in previous news posts we're looking forward to doing bigger and better things in the new year. I hope you'll stick around and enjoy what we have on tap for the near future.

As usual, the traditional New Year's Eve reminder...

Remember the safest order of things on New Year's Eve:

1. Fireworks
2. Drink

And not vice-versa

We've added a download link for Don Daily's excellent wDOLFFIN Live utility, which you can find here in our Downloads database. One of our goals in the new year will be to expand our Downloads section to make sure we have all the latest tools and must-have updates for NBA Live and to weed out broken links.

For anyone who's been having trouble downloading BigGUI, please be advised that the file has been re-uploaded and the link in our Downloads section should now be working fine. We are looking at weeding out the broken links from our database as it's likely several have built up over the past couple of years, if you do come across any broken links please let me know and I'll do my best to fix them. Please note however that any files that cannot be tracked down will simply be removed from the database.

I've discovered an issue in the latest beta version of the roster update that will be part of the NBA Live PC project for NBA Live 06 that I am currently in the process of correcting. When I allowed the game to re-assign Freestyle Superstar movesets, it has assigned dunk packages that are not necessarily appropriate for certain players. As such, certain players need to be assigned new dunk packages that are more appropriate but will still work properly with their FSS moveset.

If you're playing with the beta rosters for NBA Live 06 and come across any players performing dunks you think they shouldn't, please report them (as many players as you come across) in this thread.

If you're using Internet Explorer 7 to view the NLSC, you shouldn't have any more problems with pages around the site and Forum failing to load as the problematic ads should now be removed. Sorry again for the inconvenience, unfortunately fixing the ad code was a matter that was out of our hands. If you do experience any further problems however, please let me know.

Updates are a little slower and less frequent as we find ourselves in the holiday season but we do have some good stuff lined up for the near future with the NBA Live PC project still underway (see here for the latest details), some regular Online Team Play games and a couple of other projects we'll reveal in due course.

We'll also be looking to tidy up our Downloads section and remove broken links. Unfortunately a lot of patches have been hosted on services such as Rapidshare and the like and have since expired, so if you come across any broken links please let us know and we'll clean them up ASAP. We're currently in the process of compiling and converting art for use with the NBA Live PC project for NBA Live 06. If you'd like to help out or if you're playing with the beta rosters and would like to replace some of the missing art, you can check out the beta art pack here. Please note that as headshapes have not yet been converted, headbands and goggles will not work properly; this is an issue that will be resolved in the proper release. If you're a patchmaker and would like to lend a hand in the conversion process, please feel free to download the pack and upload any faces/headshapes that you complete.

It appears that UGO has not resolved the issues with certain ads causing difficulties in Internet Explorer 7 after all. The issue has been reported again and will hopefully be resolved soon, we apologise for the inconvenience but unfortunately it's out of our hands. The problem only affects Internet Explorer 7 so if you've been experiencing the difficulties you may want to try an alternate browser (such as Mozilla Firefox) in the short term.

The Phoenix Suns made a significant change to their lineup by trading Boris Diaw and Raja Bell along with Sean Singletary to the Charlotte Bobcats in exchange for Jason Richardson, Jared Dudley and a second round pick in 2010. Elsewhere, the Washington Wizards sent Antonio Daniels to the New Orleans Hornets for Mike James and a conditional second round pick to the Memphis Grizzlies for Javaris Crittenton. Unfortunately we experienced some unforseen problems with the Forum early this morning as a result of some security measures that were put in place to protect the Downloads section. The problems should now be cleared up, we apologise for the inconvenience. Furthermore, it appears that UGO has resolved the problem some of the ads were causing in IE7 so you should not experience that error when browsing the site or Forum anymore. As we've got a decent amount of people in our NBA Live 09 Online Team Play Club, we're looking to organise some regular Online Team Play Nights. The current proposal is to hold games on Friday or Saturday nights US Eastern Time. To suggest a time you would find convenient or if the current proposed times would be suitable, please post in this thread. It seems that the December 5th NBA Live 365 update clears the injured status for players in the roster, though currently inactive players are still properly represented by appearing in the inactive roster slots on their respective teams. Hopefully this will be the case for future updates as well, however you may want to save a copy of the latest roster update.

No word on yet on some of the unresolved database issues such as Oklahoma City's name and incorrect team records, as soon as I have any more information on those matters I'll be sure to post it.

If you're using Internet Explorer 7, you may encounter a "page cannot be displayed" errors while trying to browse the NLSC Forum. It appears as though there are some issues with a couple of the ads which are preventing pages from loading properly. The issue has been reported to UGO and should hopefully be resolved ASAP. If Stephon Marbury wants to know why none of his teammates have spoken up for him and Quentin Richardson doesn't even think of him as a teammate anymore, maybe he should follow Earl Hickey's lead and start compiling a list of all the misdeeds he's committed during his NBA career. Whether you believe in karma as a cosmic force running throughout the Universe or simply cause and effect in the form of "what goes around comes around", that's what we're seeing in New York.

The All-Star Association is seeking GMs to fill a couple of vacancies. The Denver Nuggets and New Jersey Nets are currently available, if you're interested post a request under Potential GM Applicants in their forum. The league requires you to be active, playing two User vs CPU as well as submitting one CPU vs CPU game per week. For more details, check out their website.
