Garreth Reeder is back with another producer blog detailing the results of the online matchups featuring the most recent ESPN Game of the Week in NBA Live 09, Suns vs Celtics. Contrary to the real matchup in which the Celtics prevailed behind a strong game from Rajon Rondo, the Suns were the victors in 64% of the online matchups. Check out the detailed results here. |

New Roster Updates Coming Soon |

New roster updates for NBA Live 08 and NBA Live 07 will be out within the next few days. I would prefer to delay the release a couple of days so that I can get confirmation on a few jersey numbers for players who have been traded and see what lineups teams run with, since not all traded players have played for their new teams as yet. I'll also be taking the opportunity to update ratings for several players. In any case, you won't be waiting too much longer for the post deadline updates.
I'm also going to try and get some kind of package out for the NBA Live PC project for NBA Live 06 as soon as possible, using whatever art we have available at the time. In the meantime, check out this thread for more info on what needs to be done with the art and where we need help. |

The NBA Overtime Sim League currently has six vacant teams: Dallas, Denver, Golden State, Houston, Miami and Washington. The season has already begun, so if you'd like to join check out their website ASAP.
United Ballers is also looking for new members from Germany or neighbouring countries who are fluent in German to fill some vacancies. United Ballers is an online league which uses NBA Live 08. More info can be found over on their website. |

A new edition of the Hot & Cold List and Podcast has been posted over at EA Sports World, which you can check out here. This week the Blazers' Brandon Roy tops the Hot list while Grizzlies' rookie OJ Mayo sits atop the Cold list, based on the most recent DNA data.
Three new videos have also been posted in the NBA Live 09 section of EASW. The first video recaps the events that took place in the NBA Live Late Night Lounge at the All-Star Weekend, the second features Andre Iguodala talking about his "DNA" to accompanied by some in-game clips and the third features some more conversations with the producers at the All-Star Weekend. |

With the trade deadline looming, a couple of teams have already pulled the trigger on deals. The Hornets have traded Tyson Chandler to Oklahoma City in exchange for Joe Smith and Chris Wilcox while the Kings acquired Sam Cassell from the Celtics along with cash considerations in exchange for a conditional second round pick in 2015. All-Star Weekend 2009 is now in the books; did it live up to the hype? Cast your vote in our new poll, which simply asks "What did you think of All-Star Weekend 2009?" 45% of voters in our last poll pegged the dunk contest as the event they were looking forward to the most with 41% favouring the All-Star game itself. Don't forget you can sound off in our NBA Talk section.
As we look ahead to the second half of the NBA season, Shawn Drotar has picked the Nets/Mavericks game as this week's EA Sportsdesk NBA Game of the Week. Check out his thoughts on the matchup here. |

West beat East 146-119; Shaq/Kobe Co-MVPs |

The West emerged triumphant in the 58th All-Star Game, defeating the East 146-119 in a dominant second half performance. Former Lakers teammates Shaquille O'Neal and Kobe Bryant were named co-All-Star MVPs, the third team both players have been given the honour. Kobe led all scorers with 27 points while Shaq had 17 points and 5 rebounds. LeBron James led the East with 20 points while Chris Paul posted a double-double with 14 points and 14 assists. All-Star Saturay 2009 has concluded and the winners have been crowned. Team Detroit won the Shooting Stars contest as Team Phoenix stumbled after a hot start, rookie standout Derrick Rose edged out Devin Harris in the Skills Challenge, Daequan Cook outlasted Rashard Lewis in a tiebreaker round to reign as the new Three Point Shootout king and Nate Robinson literally leaped over Dwight Howard to claim the Slam Dunk Contest crown. A couple of NBA Live Challenge updates have been posted over at EA Sports World, containing recaps and Q&As with the regional champions in Washington and New York. The Challenge culminates this weekend in Phoenix.

All-Star Weekend 2009 tipped off with the McDonalds All-Star Charity game, in which NFL superstar Terrell Owens garned repeat MVP honours as the East Sunrisers defeated the West Sunsetters 60-57 in the highest scoring celebrity game to date. Meanwhile, the Sophomores continued their dominance in the Rookie Challenge using a late run and a record 46 points by the game's MVP Kevin Durant to defeat the rookies 122-116. All-Star Weekend continues tomorrow with All-Star Saturday Night.
The Raptors and Heat have also completed a blockbuster trade, with Shawn Marion headed to Toronto along with Marcus Banks in exchange for Jermaine O'Neal and Jamario Moon. Discuss the All-Star Weekend, Heat/Raptors trade, the latest trade rumours and more in our NBA Talk section. |

Picks, Sims & All-Star Selections |

The NBA Live Dev Team is back for another round of predictions over on EA Sports World, which you can check out here. NBA Live 09 has also been used to simulate a selection of this week's games including the All-Star Game this weekend, notably correctly picking the result of yesterday's Pistons/Bulls game (almost to the score) as well as picking the West All-Stars to prevail in a close one. Check it out here.
Producer Marcus Stephenson has also posted a quick blog on Mo Williams' selection as an injury replacement, which you can read here. A reminder that we'll be featuring some regular Q&As with Marcus right here on the NLSC in the very near future. |

A couple of new NBA/NBA Live related articles have been posted over on EA Sports World. Garreth Reeder has posted another producer blog detailing the results of online Lakers vs Cavaliers matchups, which you can check out here. Community Manager Sk88z has also posted a blog recapping the regional tournaments in the NBA Live Challenge and providing a couple of photos of the winning design in EA's Jersey Creator Contest, which will be worn during the Rookie Challenge.
Finally, Shawn Drotar of 5WGaming.com has picked the Thunder/Blazers game as the Game of the Week as he looks to the future of the NBA. You can check it out here. |

EA Sports have released some additional NBA Live 09 DLC on the Xbox Live Marketplace in the form of theme packs for all 30 NBA teams. Each individual pack costs 250 Microsoft points. If you haven't done so already, you can also download the 2009 All-Star update free of charge. As I reported a couple of days ago, the All-Star DLC will be available for Playstation 3 users this Thursday, just in time for the All-Star Weekend in Phoenix. |

I'm a couple of days late in posting this, but a report from the Philadelphia leg of the NBA Live Challenge has been posted over on EA Sports World, which you can check out here. As usual, it features a Q&A with the regional champion.
It has also been announced on the official NBA Live Challenge website that there are a limited amount of free tickets to take part in the Challenge as part of the All-Star Jam Session in Phoenix on February 13th, with tournament entrants being selected on a first come-first serve basis. It seems that the NBA All-Star Weekend 2009 downloadable content for NBA Live 09 will be available to Playstation 3 users next Thursday. As with the update released on the Xbox Live Marketplace yesterday, the content will be a free download containing updated All-Star jerseys and the proper All-Star court in Phoenix. |

The NBA All-Star Weekend 2009 downloadable content pack for NBA Live 09 is now available to download from the Xbox Live Marketplace. The pack includes the updated East and West jerseys as well as the 2009 All-Star court and is free to download but appears to require a Gold subscription. Kobe Bryant 61-Point Challenge |

The NBA Rewind data for Kobe Bryant's 61 point game against the Knicks in Madison Square Garden is now available as part of the latest NBA Live 365 update. Our own JaoSming has posted an open challenge to anyone to replay the game using the Rewind feature and try holding Kobe to less than 61 points playing five minute quarters on Superstar difficulty. If you do replay Kobe's MSG record setting night, let us know the result here. |

Producer Marcus Stephenson has posted another NBA Live 365 blog, this time examining the latest DNA data for the Minnesota Timberwolves' Al Jefferson and its impact in NBA Live 09. The second clash between the Lakers and Celtics since last year's NBA Finals has been selected as the EA Sports World NBA Game of the Week, a choice I'm sure few would argue. You can check out Shawn Drotar's analysis and preview of the game here.

If you haven't ever downloaded any of Glen's updates now would be a good time to start. Also remember that face patches for NBA Live 07 are 100% compatible with NBA Live 08. NBA Live PC Project Update |

As I plan to update the rosters for NBA Live 07 and NBA Live 08 in time for the All-Star game (stay tuned) and the bugs that were present in the beta versions of the converted roster for 06 should be stamped out now, the rosters for the NBA Live PC project are under control. However, the project is still treading water at the moment as we need some help converting headshapes for use with 06. If you can lend a hand, please check out this thread for more details. |

Six teams open @ ASA |

The All-Star Association now has six teams open: the Nuggets, Warriors, Rockets, Grizzlies, Kings and Suns. The ASA is a play/sim league, which requires its members to sim two games per week plus play or sim one additional game for a total of three games per week. Additional rules can be found here, check it out for more info and register on the ASA website and post in the GM Applicants section if you're interested signing up. |

In our last poll which asked for your early pick for Rookie of the Year, first overall selection Derrick Rose was the clear favourite garnering 44% of the vote. The Grizzlies' OJ Mayo was the runner up with 29% of the vote while 11% of you felt that Michael Beasley is the frontrunner for this year's top rookie honours. |
