Another tidbit on shot control in '10 |

Producer Mike Wang (aka Beluba) has posted some additional details on the updated control method in NBA Live '10, which as previously mentioned will once again make use of a single button for jumpshots, layups and dunks. There's still not much in the way of details as yet but the change back to one button will apparently not compromise the user's control over the shot attempt, rather we will have "a great deal more control over how (we) shoot the basketball" in NBA Live '10. More details as they become available, thanks to dragon@4Q for the find. |

NBA Live '10 Snippet: Changes to controls |

According to the "Ask the devs a question" thread over at Operation Sports forums, NBA Live '10 will be abandoning the approach of using seperate buttons for jumpshots and dunks/layups, instead going back to using just one button for all shot attempts. There is no word on any modifiers or additional shot controls as yet but producer Mike Wang has described the new system as "very intuitive". Back to Seattle 2005 Released |

With the release of a new current roster update for NBA Live 2005, I've decided to provide a 2005 version of my "Back to Seattle" mod for anyone who would like to replace the Oklahoma City Thunder with the Seattle Supersonics. Please note that this is not based on any current or future events, but is rather an optional extra for Sonics fans and anyone else who would like to restore the Sonics in their game. You can download Back to Seattle 2005 here.
I have also released updated versions of Back to Seattle for NBA Live 06, NBA Live 07 and NBA Live 08, containing a few minor corrections I realised I had missed when creating the 2005 version. |

Oden's Odyssey |

Greg Oden has probably been the most scrutinised player in the NBA this season. Beyond the normal expectations of being a first overall pick, Oden has had to contend with premature accusations of being a bust thanks to his "real" rookie season being written off due to knee surgery and the Blazers' history of selecting big men that have had plenty of promise but never quite worked out. His debut season may not yield Rookie of the Year honours for Oden but as the Portland Trailblazers battle the Rockets in the first round of the 2009 Playoffs, their fans should remain optimistic for the future. |

Operation Sports' Patrick Williams has posted a feature article lamenting the decline of PC sports gaming and commenting on the fervent hope that several titles will return to the platform. Check it out here.
Speaking of PC releases, we still don't have confirmation of whether NBA Live '10 will return to the PC (or any other info just yet as it's still a bit early) but we will do our best to bring you the latest details as soon as possible. |

Predictions of the first round of the NBA Playoffs using NBA Live 09 have been posted over on EA Sports World, check them out here. Of note, the simulation has predicted only one sweep (Cavs over Pistons).
The Chicago Bulls have been spotlighted as the Group of the Week. In addition to quick rundown on the history of the real team, it also profiles the team's popularity amongst online players and features a selection of blogs and Bulls videos from NBA Live 09 that have been uploaded to EA Sports World. The NLLA is back using NBA Live 08 PC. I'm told that teams are still open, register in their forum or contact Abrough47167 on AIM if you're interested in signing up. Make sure you read the rules first so that you're aware of league policy and procedure and can be a good, trustworthy participant. |

Countdown to the 2009 NBA Playoffs |

With the regular season in the books, the 2009 NBA Playoffs are now upon us. Discussion topics for each of the first round series have been created in the NBA Talk section of the NLSC Forum, feel free to join in at any time. I'd also like to apologise for the Forum's downtime this morning, though we don't suffer the same amount of problems as we once did these things do happen from time to time and unfortunately it happened when I was not available to handle it. Thanks to everyone who sent in emails notifying me of the issue. We'll do our best to continue fine tuning things to ensure such errors occur as infrequently as possible.
I'd also like to remind everyone that new roster updates for the PC versions of NBA Live 2005 through NBA Live 08 will be released in the next few days, in time for the 2009 Playoffs. |

As part of our continued effort to clean up and expand our Downloads section, I've added a link to a popular tool that has been a noteworthy omission from our database until now. The NBA 2006 Jersey Raptor, created by GamingAccess' Ariel Santarelli, can be used to modify NBA Live 06 and NBA Live 2005 jerseys.

With the 2008/2009 regular season ending tomorrow and the Playoffs looming, talk has already turned to this year's season award winners and the LeBron vs Kobe debate coming into play with most people's predictions for Most Valuable Player. Cast your vote in our new poll, which simply asks "Who is your pick for 2009 MVP?" Don't forget to join in the discussions in our NBA Talk section as well.
It's been a while between polls as our last one asked your opinion of NBA All-Star Weekend 2009. By a slim margin, this year's midseason extraveganza was deemed excellent with most others described it as good. However, it would seem 11% of voters were disappointed by this year's Weekend going so far as to call it terrible. |

Some quick community news today, the NBA Live Sim League has had to restart and as such is on the lookout for new GMs to take the place of some inactive league members. Upcoming Roster Updates (2005-08) |

With the 2009 NBA Playoffs just around the corner, I'll be releasing new updates for NBA Live 07 and 08, as well as an updated version of NBA Live PC for NBA Live 06 and for the first time in about four years, an update for NBA Live 2005 complete with artwork. I don't have specific dates for all the releases as yet (and I may end up doing two releases for 2005, one initial version and then one playoff ready version) but I expect to have them out by the start of the Playoffs.
As I've mentioned in previous news posts, my current aim is to continue the roster updates during the offseason and through next season regardless of what happens with NBA Live '10 as I've found a way to streamline the process. Our aim is to continue catering to fans of the older games as well as bringing you the latest on the new releases in the series. Hopefully we'll be able to do both for a long while yet. |

The Basketball Hall of Fame Class of 2009 has been announced, headed up by former NBA greats Michael Jordan, John Stockton and David Robinson. Longtime Utah Jazz coach Jerry Sloan will also be honoured along with Rutgers women's coach C. Vivian Stringer when the class is inducted this September.
