As I look ahead to another year of roster updates for NBA Live 2005-08, I'm inviting contributions from the talented graphics patchers in our community to help out with faces, jerseys, courts and more. I have posted a list of art needed as I begin work on the post-Draft updates (at the moment, it's just faces) here in the NLSC Forum. All contributions will be gratefully received with credit given where it is due, so if you can help out please let me know. |

Philladelphia Sixers Logo Update v1.1 |

I've updated the Sixers' 09/10 logo patch for NBA Live 08 based on the latest designs, including the wordmark. I've also created versions of NBA Live 2005, NBA Live 06 and NBA Live 07.

As I've mentioned in recent posts, I will indeed be continuing the rosters updates for NBA Live 2005 through NBA Live 08 and will now be turning my attention back to those updates. The first post-Draft update is traditionally the most time consuming of all the roster updates so I can't put an exact timeframe on the release (especially as I'm not the one creating the rookie face patches) but I will do my best to get it out as soon as possible, much sooner than last year. In the meantime, I hope you enjoy the Sixers updates! |

A couple of new NBA Live '10 and NBA related blogs have been posted over on Inside EA Sports. The first blog touches on Dynamic DNA as Synergy Sports Technology's Founder and CEO Garrick Barr talks in-depth about the relationship with EA Sports and what it means for NBA Live '10.

The 2009 NBA Draft has provided us with another quick glimpse of NBA Live '10 as this video recapping the winners and losers of the Draft on ESPN.com includes some in-game footage of Blake Griffin playing for the Clippers and throwing down a dunk. 2009 NBA Draft Results |

The 2009 NBA Draft is complete! As expected, the Los Angeles Clippers selected Blake Griffin with the first overall pick while a couple of big names have been traded including Shaquille O'Neal and Vince Carter. Full Draft results can be found here on Yahoo! NBA, join in the discussion of all the picks and Draft day trades in the NBA Talk section of the NLSC Forum.
On the NBA Live front: As I mentioned yesterday, I will have new roster updates for NBA Live 2005 through NBA Live 08 out very soon. It takes a while to create all the draftees and I'd like to include a few faces for the most prominent players, so it won't be happening straight away but I will certainly do my best to get them out as soon as possible. In the meantime, byczek has released face patches for Blake Griffin and James Harden; if you missed them, here are the download links again:

It's extremely rare that I release anything other than a roster update (and rest assured, I will be continuing the roster updates for NBA Live 2005 through NBA Live 08 sometime after the Draft) but as I dabbled a little in logo editing while converting some 08 files for use with the 2005 roster, I decided to try updating the Sixers' logos in NBA Live 08 with their newly unveiled "new old look". If nothing else, I feel they can hold us over until one of our more talented graphics patchers releases an update of their own and it was certainly fun to try something new.

Sean Campbell has posted a blog over on the Inside EA Sports website talking about the development of EA Sports' Virtual Playbook in NBA Live '10 and its appearance on ESPN during the 2009 NBA Playoffs. The post doesn't reveal too much about NBA Live '10 but does provide some insight into the development process and serves as a nice behind-the-scenes glance. NBA Live '10 Producer Blog on Inside EA Sports |

NBA Live '10 lead producer Sean O'Brien has posted a new blog on the Inside EA Sports site where he talks about the focus of the Dev Team this year and gives a quick rundown of some of the areas we should expect to see improvement in. Details are still being kept under wraps, but various new features have been hinted at in the post, including an addition to Dynamic DNA that will "blow (us) away". Check it out here and head over to the NBA Live '10 section of the NLSC Forum to discuss the latest details.
One tidbit that has been revealed in the blog is that attention has been paid to some of the finer details of presentation, including player specific pre-game rituals. You can view a work-in-progress screenshot of LeBron James' pre-game ritual here. |

Los Angeles Lakers are 2009 NBA Champions |

Congratulations to the Los Angeles Lakers, the 2009 NBA Champions! The Lakers took Game 5 in Orlando 99-86 to win their first championship since the 2002 season. Kobe Bryant was named Finals MVP for the first time in his career, scoring 30 points in addition to handing out 5 assists and grabbing 6 rebounds in the deciding game. Discuss the results of the NBA Finals and more in the NBA Talk section of the NLSC Forum.

No PC version of NBA Live '10 |

GamingAccess.com has broken the news that NBA Live '10 will not be available on the PC platform. This certainly comes as a blow to many of us who were hoping for a return in the wake of the NBA 2K series coming to the PC. It also appears that NBA Live '10 will not be developed for the Playstation 2 or Nintendo Wii.
While the news is very unfortunate, it is not altogether unexpected given recent blog posts and the absence of a pre-order PC version in EA's online store. We will of course be covering NBA Live '10 and future releases in the series but will definitely continue to support our community of players and patchers of the older releases on the PC, including established staples of our site such as the NLSC current roster updates.

The Orlando Magic's Dwight Howard has officially been revealed as the cover player for NBA Live '10.
Producer Marcus Stephenson has also posted a blog entry regarding the announcement here, also noting that further information about NBA Live '10 is just around the corner. New Forum Roles |

In addition to their other contributions as part of the NLSC Team, Pdub and JaoSming are now also Assistant Administrators in the Forum. Their roles will remain much the same as our Global Moderators but they will also be able to handle a few additional matters in my absence, whether I'm on vacation or simply unavailable at any particular time. |

Just a quick site note, I'm heading down to Canberra for the Queen's Birthday long weekend. I'll have Internet access during that time so I'll be checking in to post a couple of updates and answer any emails but suffice to say I won't be around as much as I usually am and won't be accessible while I'm away. The rest of the NLSC Team will still be around but if you need to get in touch with me about anything, please be advised that I might not be able to get back to you right away. EA to possibly announce coverboy(s) early? |

With 2K set to announce their coverboy today/tomorrow, it appears it may have forced EA to announe theirs early instead of on Draft Day as first mentioned to the community. Marcus Stephenson has hinted at this on his Twitter page and in the Operation Sports forums.
This could be the start of NBA Live '10 information rolling out. I look forward to sharing more news wth you all as it gets released or information is passed on to moderators on EA forums like myself. |

A couple of complications in the upgrade process pushed back full completion of the latest round of Forum maintenance, but everything should be back up to speed now along with some added protection against spambots. I've also scouted out some additional measures should bots continue to get past our security measures. The NLSC Forum is currently unavailable while we make a few upgrades to better protect ourselves from the rash of spambots that have been flooding us as of late. I apologise for the inconvenience but the upgrades are necessary to ensure that we don't have to put up with all manner of unsolicited advertising posts and private messages popping up annoying us all every day. Lakers to meet Magic in 2009 NBA Finals |

The 2009 NBA Finals matchup has been set: the Los Angeles Lakers are returning to the NBA's grandest stage while the Orlando Magic have advanced to the championship series for the second time in franchise history, having previously faced Hakeem Olajuwon's Houston Rockets in 1995. As you might expect, our new poll simply asks which team will be crowned this year's champions. Cast your vote now!
44% of voters in our last poll might be feeling a little down about the Lakers/Magic series as a Lakers/Cavs matchup was the most popular choice.
