2K Sports have released the third official roster update for NBA 2K12 in the past week and the fifteenth overall. To get the latest update automatically, simply ensure that your PC, Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 is connected to the Internet. Remember you will need to use the Reset Roster function under the Options menu to access the new rosters.

The latest update adds J.R. Smith to the New York Knicks’ roster, though his jersey number is incorrect (#5 instead of #8). If you’re playing the PC version and would like to download the update manually for whatever reason, I’ve uploaded a copy of the latest roster and online data folder here. 2K Sports have released a minor roster update for NBA 2K12, the fourteenth official roster update so far. The update will be downloaded automatically as long as your PC, Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 is connected to the Internet, but as always please be aware that you need to use the Reset Roster function under the Options menu to access the new rosters. For PC users who would like to download the rosters and latest online data updates manually, I’ve uploaded them here.

Following a boost to 69 overall in the thirteenth roster update, Jeremy Lin is now rated 75 overall in the new rosters. 2K Sports have announced that a Game of the Year Edition of NBA 2K12 will be released on March 11th 2012, for $49.99 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The package will be available exclusively at Best Buy stores for a limited time and will contain a full retail copy of NBA 2K12, the Legends Showcase downloadable content and a commemorative poster featuring cover players Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson and Larry Bird. The PC version of NBA 2K12, which did not receive the Legends Showcase DLC, will not be receiving a Game of the Year Edition.

PC gamers have been waiting anxiously for the official patch for NBA 2K12, but it appears as though the wait it almost over. In response to a question about the status of the PC patch, Ronnie 2K answered that the patch is “days away”.

The PC version will be receiving a combined update that includes the online and minor gameplay issues addressed by the first couple of updates for the console versions, as well as all the fixes for the big v1.04 patch that came out in December. Following the delay of last week’s official roster update for NBA 2K12 due to ongoing freezing issues with the PlayStation 3 version of the game, Ronnie 2K has Tweeted an update on the situation revealing that we can expect the new rosters to come through within the next 48 hours.

There will be a #NBA2K12 roster update in the next 48 hours per @NBA2KInsider including a bump to JLin among other things

According to a Tweet by the NBA 2K Insider, the weekly official roster update for NBA 2K12 has been delayed while the team tries to solve the recent freezing issues with the PlayStation 3 version. It seems we can now expect the next roster to be available within the next few days.

The next roster update is delayed because we are trying to resolve the PS3 freeze issue. Hoping for early next week. Sorry!

For PlayStation 3 users encountering freezes, the temporary solution that is currently being suggested is to delete your Game Data Utility files for NBA 2K12. According to this Tweet from Ronnie 2K, the issue stems from corruption of the game data file caused by an external partner and the workaround has been effective for most (but not all) users.
