College Hoops 2K13 Mod for NBA 2K13 – Vote for the Cover Player!

johnbuckeyefan and the rest of the team working on the upcoming College Hoops 2K13 Mod for NBA 2K13 are currently running a poll here in the NLSC Forum to determine a “cover player” for the project. If you’d like to have your say on the face of the project, be sure to check out the thread and cast your vote.

While you’re there, you can also see the latest previews and progress reports on the mod, which is going closer and closer to release. College Hoops 2K13 is just one example of some of the awesome stuff that our community can do with the recently released REDitor for NBA 2K13, so keep an eye out for more exciting projects.

How to Use NBA Stats Tracker for YouTube & Stories

If you don’t know, Leftos’ NBA Stats Tracker tool is quite possibly the most impressive tool created for NBA games. Attempting to sum it up in a sentence is impossible. It extrapolates player, team and league statistics from exported CSV files (via the REDitor) and turns them into detailed scouting reports, league and team leaders and processed metric statistics that can be customized to your liking.

You can export this information to text editors which can then be utilized in Association or MyCAREER story threads, or even YouTube series for overlays or simply talking points during the video. Below is a tutorial on how to use the tool in its most basic form for a YouTube series or text story.

Now, this is a very basic look into what this tool is capable of. You can watch my more Detailed Overview if you’d like, but I would recommend checking out Leftos’ Official Forum Thread for the most accurately explained feature tours and information.

NCAA, Retro Team, and Other Rosters Released

With the release of the REDitor, I am now able to release all the rosters I created with the tool during its beta testing stage. The biggest release by far is the Named NCAA Roster, with proper player and team names for all included in the mod, as well as fixed uniform number colors for a couple teams and various other tweaks. Another big release coming from this is an 84 Retro Team Roster created from OS’ RayRay32’s rosters, DukeW74’s CF fixes, and the UBR 2K12 team’s courts with permission from HAWK23 himself. I have also created the annual NLSC Roster, replacing NBA players with avatars for our forum members, an update for my Street Mod, and a simple roster that unlocks the hidden All-Star teams.

Check out the links for each mod above and prepare for the influx of new quality mods for NBA 2K13, thanks to the REDitor!

RED Modding Center (REDitor) for NBA 2K13 Released

The REDitor MC, which supports the PC and Xbox 360 versions of NBA 2K13, is now available! As with years past, the free version of the tool allows for the editing of the Players Tab, containing all information for individual players from Roster Files. Instead of charging for three different levels of licenses for editing, this year Vl@d allows for a very customizable licensing system, letting users only pay for what they want.

REDitor for NBA 2K13 Coming This Friday

Vl@d Zola Jr. has made an exciting announcement: the first public release of REDitor for NBA 2K13 is coming this Friday! The tool is a long time coming but some truly fantastic work has gone into it, making it well worth the wait and welcome news for a modding community that has already put in a fantastic effort in a little under seven months of the game being out.

JaoSming has put together a video which runs through some details about the new REDitor, which you can check out below or here over on his YouTube channel. You can also read more about REDitor here in the NLSC Forum and check out details regarding prices and discounts here on Vl@d’s website. A huge thanks to Vl@d once again for all his hard work, as well as the efforts of everyone who helped him out with beta testing including JaoSming. Once again, look out for more info and a download link coming your way on Friday.

NLSC Podcast – Episode #24

Our big three is down to a dynamic duo in this week’s episode of the NLSC Podcast but Ben and I aren’t taking the week off as we talk about the latest community news, speculate on some news coming out of EA Canada, discuss the latest happenings in the NBA and more. A more detailed overview of Episode #24 is as follows:

  • The 2012/2013 roster updates for NBA Live 2005, NBA Live 06, NBA Live 07 and NBA Live 08 are finally out, and I couldn’t be more relieved.
  • REDitor is getting closer to release and JaoSming has already been preparing video tutorials for all the basics.
  • EA Canada are inviting gamers to playtest a “New NBA Concept”. We speculate on what it might be.
  • We discuss some different approaches to Association and Dynasty games.
  • Turning to the last week or so in the NBA, I struggle to stop mentioning the Bulls’ victory that ended the Heat’s winning streak at 27.
  • There have been some…interesting calls involving the Lakers as of late. Do we believe the conspiracy theories?
  • Following Mark Cuban’s Tweet, do we see Brittney Griner making it to the NBA?
  • We revisit the Heat and their shorthanded upset win over the Spurs, before wrapping up the NBA discussion.
  • We discuss the shocking incident involving former Rutgers coach Mike Rice, Kevin Ware’s gruesome injury and the NCAA tournament.
  • We close with some general gaming news including the closure of LucasArts and the latest next gen news.

REDitor Video Tutorials for NBA 2K13 Available

All the initial tutorial videos for the upcoming REDitor for NBA 2K13 are now available on my YouTube Channel. They range from overviews of the tool and certains tabs, to detailed tutorials which may be repeats from tutorials I’ve done for Leftos’ Roster Editor. Other than that there are four completely new tutorials, including how to copy a player from one roster to another, having a real NBA player for your MyCAREER, unlocking the hidden All Star teams, and draft class editing.

You can check out all my video tutorials in this Forum Thread. Be sure to stop by and follow the REDitor’s development progress in this Forum Thread as well, we are very close to the public release!

NBA 2K13 Modding Video Tutorials

If you are wanting to learn how to edit most anything in NBA 2K13 PC (and Xbox 360 rosters) you should take a look at my Video Tutorial Thread in the NBA 2K13 Tutorials Forum. I cover everything from proper installation of tools, techniques to use in those tools, start to finish modding guides, specific tutorials, and advanced tutorials.

So whether you want to learn how to make cyberfaces, uniforms, or floors, change court colors and reflections, do anything and everything with Leftos’ tools including his Roster Editor, or just want to figure out how to get your tools working, check the thread out. Or you can subscribe to my YouTube Channel where I upload all these videos to, as I am consistently updating and creating new tutorials.

Help Needed with Story & Event Generator for NBA 2K13

If you are unaware, Leftos and I are in the beginning stages of creating a revolutionary tool for NBA 2K13, which could possibly also support past NBA 2K and Live games. We do not have a name for it yet, but essentially the tool would add more depth to the Association, Dynasty, or MyCAREER modes we all play. You can listen to the brainstorm we had during our Impromptu Podcast (starting around the 2 hour mark), see a mock up and further explanation in this YouTube video, and participate with your own ideas and events in this Forum thread.

Right now, I am looking for help defining the various personalities seen in the NBA. Not help with how these personalities are defined (which is the next step), but simply listing out personalities like a veteran who just wants a ring before retirement, a rookie with money on his mind or an injury prone player looking to rebound. For a better explanation, watch this YouTube video, and participate in the comments below or in the Forum thread. Thank you!

NCAA 2K13 v1.0 Released for NBA 2K13 PC

Only a couple months after the initial release, version 1.0 of the NCAA 2K13 total conversion mod for NBA 2K13 PC has been released! The mod still has the same 30 NCAA teams as before, but this version has all the courts previously released in quiet updates, basic appearances for all players by basketball110 and ratings & tendencies done by johnbuckeyefan.

This will probably be the final update from myself with the NCAA/College Hoops mod for NBA 2K13. With the REDitor releasing soon, Behindshadows will take over leadership and development of the mod while he and the rest of the College Hoops 2K11/2K12 crew use this mod as a base for a more accurate representation of the NCAA. Be sure to keep an eye out for that.

For now, you can check out the released version of the NCAA 2K13 mod in the NLSC Downloads Database, as well as the official Release Forum Thread if you want to say thanks to the guys for their hard work or if you have any issues or questions.  If you click Read More, you can check out my Video Review of the mod. Enjoy!

Community Ballahz Mod for NBA 2K13 Released

I have finished up the initial version of the Community Ballahz mod I started yesterday on my Live Stream. It takes 300 terrible players, ranging in age from children to old people, including women, gives them 60 different uniforms to wear, and lets you use them in Blacktop Mode. The intention is to replicate games you might experience at your local community gym, like I do on a Weekly Basis. Once the REDitor is released for NBA 2K13 I plan on adding new gyms, uniforms, and even NBA or Celebrity players. I’m also hoping to include NLSC members as well, as long as you can supply me with your own cyberface and uniform file in the Releases Thread.

To get the mod, which does NOT overwrite any original files in your installation, head over to the NLSC Downloads Database.

New Tutorial on Editing Court Reflections & Colors in NBA 2K13

One of the most confusing and difficult projects in modding the PC versions of NBA 2K has been modifying court colors and reflections. My advice has always been the same, just find a court with the lanes, out of bounds, and lines colored close enough to what you need, and just swap textures to get it to look like you want. There have been tutorials on how to do it with hex editing, but those confused more people than they helped, leaving only an elite handful of court patchers in the community.

Well, thanks to the recent update to the Hex on Steroids tool from Leftos, that is no longer the case. We don’t need to look at the block of hex data to locate and change colors and reflection values. I wrote up a detailed tutorial on how to use the tool to do both colors and reflections. If you have any comments, suggestions, or thanks to give, feel free to check out the thread and share. Best of luck, and I can’t wait to see what the community can make now!
