LED Dornas – Pack 1
Following the latest round of talks between the NBA player’s union and the owners, the league has officially cancelled the first two weeks of the 2011/2012 regular season. Despite meeting for more than seven hours, both sides reportedly remain “very far apart on virtually all issues”, which obviously does not bode well for a speedy resolution to the lockout. Have your say on the lockout and other topics concerning real basketball in the NBA & Basketball Talk section of the NLSC Forum.
As far as the lockout’s impact on virtual basketball, the current state of negotiations would suggest that an official patch to add rookies to NBA 2K12 and the planned roster updates for NBA Jam: On Fire Edition will not be happening anytime soon. Rookie data is present in NBA 2K12’s game files so it’s possible that we’ll be able to add this year’s rookie crop to the game and utilise faces, speech and so forth through our own unofficial updates. The feasibility and exact methods of doing this are still being explored at this time.

Da Czar continues to provide pointers for NBA 2K12 players with the third installment of his Strategy Session series for this year’s game. In the latest video, Czar runs through the essentials of playcalling in NBA 2K12.
As you may remember in my initial impressions of NBA 2K12, I mentioned that 2K changed the compression format of the iff files this year which did not allow for any of our editing tools to extract or import textures. Essentially this meant we couldn’t customize the look or feel of the game at all like we have in years past. Thankfully, only two days after 2K12’s release, our friends from ModdingWay released a tool that allows us to decompress the new 2K12 iff files. The following is a report on the status of patching NBA 2K12 PC.
NBA 2K12 is out now in North American stores and will be out soon worldwide. I was able to pick up a copy yesterday so I’ll be posting my impressions in the not too distant future, but in the meantime you can have your say in our impressions thread and our new poll, which asks “How do you rate NBA 2K12?” Cast your vote now!
Our previous poll asked “What are you most looking forward to playing in NBA 2K12?” My Player was the most popular choice, garnering 44% of the vote, NBA’s Greatest came in second with 19%, and Association followed closely in third place with 18%. 8% were most looking forward to the new online Association while 7% expressed a preference for the My Player offshoot mode, Creating a Legend. A final 4% indicated they were most looking forward to something else in this year’s game.
Here we have our first file additions for NBA 2K12. Thanks to everyone who has started using the upload feature in our Downloads section, please keep the contributions coming!

The review praises NBA’s Greatest, enhanced gameplay, improved My Player and presentation in this year’s game, though the reviewer notably has not spent time with the game’s online modes.
