NLSC Current Roster Updates for NBA Live 2005-08 v5.1 Released

New versions (v5.1) of the current roster updates for NBA Live 2005, NBA Live 06, NBA Live 07 and NBA Live 08 are now available! The new updates feature rosters accurate as of May 13th, 2012. Download the update for the game you’re playing at the links below; please see the support threads for the “roster only” versions and supplementary add-ons.

The new rosters also contain some minor ratings updates for a couple of players, fixed dunk packages in the NBA Live 2005 and NBA Live 06 updates, some art updates that were made available after v5.0 was released back in April and a couple of other minor fixes. Please note that they do not contain new Brooklyn Nets artwork, as we’re still in the 2011/2012 season. Those updates are available separately for anyone who’d like to have the new logos early.

NLSC Forum Rule Amendments: Donations

Since more and more patchers in the community have donation links and virtual “tip jars” these days, we felt it would be a good idea to amend the Forum rules to regulate the situation. Our hope is that we can avoid things getting out of hand.

In a nutshell, we are allowing the donation links and tip jars, however patchers may not bully or harass people into making a contribution; withholding releases until donations are received will also not be tolerated as it is not in the spirit of our patching community. Similarly, directly charging for updates remains prohibited, as legal issues can arise from this approach. We have also set a few conditions for the placement of donation links in Forum posts and our Downloads section.

For more information, please see the Forum Rules here. We reserve the right to make further amendments to the rules as the situation dictates, but hopefully there will be no issues moving forward. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact myself or one of the other administrators.

New Poll: The Influence of Cover Players

With news on NBA Live 13 and NBA 2K13 likely right around the corner, speculating on the possible cover players for each game has been a popular topic in the NLSC Forum. Does the choice of cover player influence your decision to buy a game, though? Cast your vote in our new poll!

Our previous poll asked “Do you mostly play basketball video games online or offline?” It seems an overwhelming number of gamers in the community still favour offline modes such as Dynasty, Association and My Player, as “Mostly offline” garnered 83% of the vote. In contrast, just 9% indicated that they mostly play basketball video games online, while a final 8% spend an equal amount of time playing online and offline modes.

2K GameChangers Community Initiative (SportsGaming)

The SportsGaming blog is starting an initiative to encourage 2K Sports to adopt a similar approach to EA’s Game Changers and the NBA Live Advisory Council, with a view to improving 2K’s NBA sim games beginning with NBA 2K13. Essentially, it is a grass roots movement to open a dialogue with the NBA 2K development team and provide them with quality feedback, similar to what we’ve been able to do in the past with EA Sports and our NBA Live Wishlists.

NBA 2K13 Motion Capture Talent; Forum Section Launched

Not many details on NBA 2K13 have been revealed or hinted at as yet aside from community manager Ronnie 2K looking to recruit various celebrities for an as yet unnamed NBA 2K related initiative, as well as Justin Bieber’s inclusion in the game. As with NBA Live 13, we probably won’t be getting a whole lot of information until E3 next month.

However, yesterday Ronnie Tweeted an interesting tidbit, revealing that Dion Waiters and Austin Rivers (son of former NBA player and current Celtics head coach Doc Rivers) have provided motion capture for NBA 2K13.

New NBA 2K12 Official Roster Update (May 9th) Now Available

Another official roster update for NBA 2K12 has gone live today, with rosters accurate as of May 9th 2012. The update will come through automatically as long as your PC, Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 is connected to the Internet and your game is up to date with the official patch. The new rosters can then be accessed by using the Reset Roster function under the Options menu.

PC users who would like to update their game manually can download this pack, which I’ve updated with the latest roster and online data files. As previously noted by the NBA 2K Insider, the Playoff roster updates do not contain any ratings adjustments, just updated rotations to reflect the latest injuries and lineups.

Dynasty Five Fantasy League Restarted, seeking GMs

The Dynasty Five Fantasy League has restarted using the latest NLSC rosters and is currently looking for enthusiastic GMs to sign up. The new season will begin shortly, after all vacant teams have been claimed.

NBA Live 13 Video: Kyrie Irving & Ricky Rubio Visit EA Sports

EA Sports have posted a behind the scenes video of Kyrie Irving and Ricky Rubio’s visits to the EA Tiburon studios during the 2012 All-Star Weekend in Orlando, where they met with the NBA Live 13 development team and had some hands-on time with the game. While the video doesn’t contain any gameplay footage, you can catch a quick glimpse of one of the developers working on Kyrie Irving’s cyberface.

New NBA 2K12 Official Roster Update (May 5th) Now Available

A new official roster update for NBA 2K12 has gone live this weekend after all, containing rosters accurate as of May 5th 2012. As always, you should receive the update automatically as long as your PC, Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 is connected to the Internet and your game is up to date with the official patch, however you must use the Reset Roster function under the Options menu to load the new rosters after the game starts up. PC users who would like to update their game manually may use this pack, which includes the latest roster and online data files.

As per the NBA 2K Insider, roster updates during the Playoffs will only include changes to lineups, so it seems there will be no more adjustments to player ratings this season. Anyone unsatisfied with any player ratings will have to make changes themselves or download an unofficial roster update.
