NBA 2K13 PC Differences from Console Versions

While PC users are able to modify the game and enjoy a cheaper price than the console version of the game, it seems like each year there are various features or modes that disappear without prior warning from 2K Sports. Well, those who were able to purchase a disc version of the game (note that digital distribution is delayed two weeks) have found the main differences between the PC and Console versions of the game.

The PC Version of NBA 2K13 is currently missing the following features and modes included in the console versions of the game. Click Read More to see what they are.

Game Modes

  • MyTEAM
  • Preorder All Star Weekend (dunk contest, 3pt contest)

Game Features

  • MyCloset for MyPLAYER
  • VC Currency System (the game uses the console’s “offline” skill point system for MyCAREER)
  • Unlockable Blacktop Stars (on consoles they can be purchased with VC; not in PC version)

Online

  • Playing Against Specific Opponents (including friends)
  • 3-on-3 Blacktop with MyPLAYERs

Graphics

  • Self-Shadowing on Players
  • Advanced Stadium Lighting (colored lights in crowd)

This is true. Other core features and gameplay remain the same, too.

This doesn’t really make sense? I’ve always said that the best way to stop piracy is to have lots of fun online features and they shot themselves in the foot doing this. Giving away 3/4 of a product which seemed like we were promised all of just sounds ridiculous. I understand piracy is ruining the PC gaming community but in my opinion 2K just did the one thing that might make more people pirate it. I hope not though, if that’s the case we might lose our PC version all together or get saddled with dumb restrictions like always on internet or online connection at start-up.

For what it’s worth, JaoSming reported the issue to 2K Sports and we are compiling lists of various bugs/issues that’ll hopefully be patched. History suggests PC users will be waiting a while for any official fix, but it’s certainly worth the bug reports and constructive feedback in the meantime.

You need to have pre-ordered the game or bought the Dynasty Edition.

About the Online thing. I can’t play with random people in PC?

No, you can. In fact, that’s all you can do outside of Online Association (though you can start a two person Association to essentially create your own matchup with a specific person). The list in this article is comprised of things that are missing/can’t be done in the PC version.

I have 2K13 but I am playing 2K12 because of the lacking features of 2K13. 2K12>2K13. 2K12 is even better thanks to the UBR.
