NBA 2K17 Legend Edition Featuring Kobe Bryant Announced

NBA 2K17 Legend Edition Cover Art - Kobe Bryant

With Kobe Bryant’s last NBA game looming, 2K Sports has wasted no time in announcing a special Legend Edition of NBA 2K17, featuring Kobe on the cover. The game is already available to pre-order, with the Legend Edition offering the following bonuses:

Physical Items

  • Limited edition Kobe poster
  • Black Mamba controller skin
  • 2 Panini Kobe trading cards

Digital Items

  • 30,000 Virtual Currency
  • MyTEAM Bundle+ (including 3 packs with guaranteed Kobe Free Agent card)
  • 2K Kobe XI shoe
  • Kobe #8 Mitchell & Ness Jersey
  • Kobe hoodie
  • And more to come!

It remains to be seen whether this means Visual Concepts has an exclusive deal with Kobe Bryant moving forward; if so, that means he won’t be able to appear in NBA Live 17 as a Legend in Ultimate Team. Of course, he’s obviously going to be available in MyTEAM in NBA 2K17.

A new “Legends Live On” trailer has also been released which you check out below, along with a full size image of the Legend Edition cover. Interestingly, the trailer also features Kyrie Irving, and Paul George in uniform, perhaps hinting that one or both of them will also be cover players this year. Unsurprisingly, there’s no gameplay footage, as it’s far too early for those kinds of teasers. We probably won’t be getting much in the way of preview media or information on the game itself for a little while yet, but as soon as details began to emerge, we’ll be sure to post them.

In the meantime, what do you think of the announcement? Will you be pre-ordering NBA 2K17 this early, or will you pass on the Legend Edition altogether? Have your say in the comments section below, and join in the discussion here in the NLSC Forum.

Сheckmate, EA! Ha-ha. 🙂
There is an outstanding hit by 2K. They have deprived us and you, Andrew, a chance to speculate about 2K17′ cover player. xD”
Before I’ve read about in-game “things” I had been thinking that there will be trinkets like last year’s MJ edition. As maximum, a rookie KB8 MyTeam cart with 79-81 overlay. I have not missed. 🙂
A year ago 2K “closed” 2K14 servers and I decided to not buy their game anymore, but there was an exciter: do not make my mistake! #alwaysLIVE is so much better this year, I cannot play in shot (3p abuse as well as dunk abuse) and run “sim”. Nice try, but NBA Live 17 only, whatever cover player will be.

Yeah I was done with 2k after the glitchfest that was 2k15. Live16 was such an improvement over live15 and 2k16, that I’m not going back to 2k even if ea stops making nba basketball games. All that fluff 2k puts in the game to try and overshadow the various problems is pathetic. But the majority people will buy it any cause gameplay doesn’t matter and you can buy your way up to a 99 rating and use bullshit park cards.
