EA Sports has published another open letter from NBA Live 14 Executive Producer Sean O’Brien, discussing the upcoming patch for the game which is expected to be pushed through next week. The letter goes into detail about some of the additions and enhancements that we can expect to see in the patch, including:
- New Shootaround mode, as seen in the recent tutorial videos.
- Visual upgrades including tuned lighting, with enhancements to players and uniforms.
- Gameplay improvements including improved responsiveness, ball and passing physics, momentum and animations.
- The 2014 All-Star court and jerseys.
- Additional Hardwood Classics jerseys
- The new basketball with Adam Silver’s signature.
- Some changes and fixes for the camera in LIVE Season games; the default camera is now the broadcast view, rather than the player lock camera.
- Various bug fixes in LIVE Season and Ultimate Team.
Sean also mentions that the game has seen over 13,000 updates from Synergy Sports, while confirming that the recent player face scans that have been mentioned on the game’s official Twitter are actually being done for NBA Live 15. On that note, Sean stresses that the work the team has been doing on the update for NBA Live 14 has not been at the expense of NBA Live 15, as all of their efforts are geared towards building for the future, while also providing some fixes for the current product.

I don’t know what anyone else feels, but I would like the next patch to include being able to edit players. I don’t know if that’s possible but if it is, I want it to happen. Everyone has their own preferences as far as headbands and wristbands and etc. it’s one of the reasons why i liked NBA LIVE 10 a lot better than this years Live 14
Agreed. It doesn’t sound like it’s going to happen, but if they can patch it in, it’d be fantastic. At the very least, it needs to return in NBA Live 15.
Are daily roster updates gonna be included in this patch as well because EA has definitely been slipping in that department. Players still on wrong team, players missing, Ryan Kelly for the Lakers, and player apparel. Other than that, I’ve really enjoyed the game and can’t wait to see how the patch makes it better.
I don’t believe this patch is going to have any effect on the roster updates, though that system definitely does need work.
It’s funny, the official roster updates for both NBA Live 14 and NBA 2K14 have had players missing from the game, but in some cases it’s been different players as certain players that are missing in NBA Live 14 appear in NBA 2K14, while some players who are in NBA Live 14 are missing in NBA 2K14. As such, the explanations we’ve received in the past (eg players who aren’t on guaranteed contracts can’t be included) pretty much go out the window.
Looks like another in-game update has been pushed through. Not sure what it addresses, but based on a couple of games I’ve played today, it possibly fixes the pass back issues a few of us have been having in player locked BIG Moments games.
