Episode #141	Andrew & Arcane	Has EA Sports done enough to create interest in NBA Live 17, or will the plug be pulled? Do they need to be doing more with NBA Live 16 to drum up interest for this year's game? What's holding EA back from releasing a game that can compete with 2K? We discuss some of the issues with animations in both NBA Live 16 and NBA 2K16. With the NBA All-Star festivities not too far away, we reminisce about All-Star Weekend in NBA Live. Do we want EA to bring it back? You can probably guess our answer to that one! Fox Sports Australia recently posted some NBA Jam trivia, which we quickly recap and reflect upon. Which mode do we prefer in NBA 2K: MyLEAGUE, or MyGM? Moving on to this week's NBA discussion, we mention a couple of notes from the past week, and run through a few midseason surprises and disappointments. The second returns for this year's All-Star balloting have been released. The likely starters are becoming clearer, so we talk about some candidates for the reserves. Which Chicago Bulls player is most likely to be traded: Joakim Noah, Derrick Rose, Taj Gibson, or Jimmy Butler? We revisit the question of which number the Los Angeles Lakers should retire for Kobe Bryant. Should Kevin Garnett receive a similar send-off to Kobe? In this week's Bold Predictions for Next Week: Andrew still isn't on the scoreboard. Will his latest prediction break the drought? Episode #142	Andrew & Arcane	We discuss the most recent NBA Live 16 roster update, including the addition of Elton Brand and the latest ratings adjustments. A rumour regarding the expansion of the NBA Live development team has been brought to our attention. We don't have any inside information, but we have a few thoughts on the possibility all the same. The good news: face scanning has come to NBA 2K16 PC. The bad news: a lot of gamers probably won't be able to take advantage of it, at least not yet. We reflect on the issue of content creators getting burned out, talking about our own experiences and offering some advice. Jimmy Butler became the fourth Chicago Bulls player to score 50+ points. On a less positive note, it looks like Joakim Noah is out for the season. Martin Luther King Jr. Day saw some wild games in the NBA, including a career high 52 points by Kemba Walker. A couple of players from the Class of 1999 are looking to make a comeback in the NBA. Matthew Dellavedova has been voted the dirtiest player in the league. Will we still defend our fellow Aussie? Andre Drummond set a new record for free throws missed in a single game. We take the opportunity to discuss the Hack-a-Whoever strategy. We offer up some suggestions of players who may be traded before or at the deadline. The NBA might appeal to international fans - like us - by scheduling some morning games in the future. Yes, we're all for it. This week's Bold Predictions see...well, more bold predictions. Last week wasn't kind to us. Episode #143	Andrew & Arcane	We tip things off with a look at recent NBA Live 16 updates, including thoughts on the latest rosters, and the lack of content for BIG Moments. EA are dropping out of E3, in favour of hosting their own event, EA Play. The event will be open to the public, and will feature hands-on game demos. Speaking of EA, we also touch on some recent comments Andrew Wilson made about changing the company's image. Patch #5 has been released for NBA 2K16. Its focus suggests that the Pro-Am Road To The Finals tournament isn't too far away. The starters and reserves for the 2016 NBA All-Star Game have been announced. We recap the selections, and give our thoughts. We reflect on the selections for the Rising Stars Challenge, which were also recently announced. David Blatt's unexpected and virtually unprecedented firing got a lot of people talking in the past week, so it's our turn to weigh in on the situation. Last week, we discussed players who might be traded. One of them has been, as Josh Smith has been sent back to the Houston Rockets. We compare the 1996 Chicago Bulls to the 2016 Golden State Warriors. Who would win, what would the match-ups be like, and how close would it be? Who are some of the biggest Draft busts that come immediately to mind? Unfortunately, MJ has picked a couple of them. We've both come up empty in Bold Predictions the last couple of weeks, which means Andrew is still yet to get on the scoreboard. Surely, this is the week it all turns around! Episode #144	Andrew & Arcane	The NBA Live 16 rosters have been updated, but do not include this year's All-Star teams, jerseys, or court. We also touch on the continued lack of updates to BIG Moments and NBA Rewind. Following our speculation last week, the NBA 2K16 Road To The Finals Pro-Am tournament has tipped off with pre-season play. Unfortunately for PC gamers, it appears to be console only. Take Two is being sued over the unauthorised use of certain players' tattoos in NBA 2K16. Fair or foul? Returning in this week's NLSC Podcast, Our Week in Basketball Gaming! This week, it's all about Ultimate Team, MyCAREER, and a rant about sore losers online. What are some of the biggest mistakes we've made in franchise modes over the years? Do we have any plans to get into some NBA 2K16 modding? Jeff Hornacek has been fired by the Phoenix Suns, and replaced by Earl Watson. Not altogether surprising. With the trade deadline looming, we look at some rumours making the rounds, and consider who might be changing teams. Will any big names be wearing new jerseys after the deadline? We give our thoughts on the suggestion that Kobe Bryant will shut it down after All-Star Weekend. The participants for the Slam Dunk Contest and Three-Point Shootout have been announced, so we throw out some early predictions. Could Kevin Durant end up with the Golden State Warriors next season? Episode #145	Andrew & Arcane	Our official Wishlist threads for NBA Live 17 and NBA 2K17 are now open, so start posting your constructive feedback! We reflect on All-Star Weekend in NBA Live, and fantasise about its return. A list of players missing from NBA 2K16's historical teams has been posted over on Reddit, leading us to wonder about the future of retro teams. What have we been doing in NBA Live 16 and NBA 2K16 this past week? We recap our latest adventures on the virtual hardwood. How did we originally find the NLSC and get involved with it? We answer a mailbag question about our history with the site. Who are some our favourite fringe NBA players? Have we ended up acquiring any of them in our franchise games? Derek Fisher is the latest head coach to get the axe. The circus continues in New York. ESPN has named Michael Jordan the greatest NBA player of all-time in a recent feature. We don't disagree. The NBA is considering changing the Hack-a-Whoever rules. We're not heartbroken. Blake Griffin has been suspended for his altercation with an assistant equipment manager. Meanwhile, Markieff Morris is still trying to force his way out of Phoenix. The 2016 All-Star Weekend is almost upon us. We run down our official predictions. Episode #146	Andrew & Arcane	NBA Live 16 received a new patch last week, including the All-Star court and jerseys, and new Ultimate Team challenges. BIG Moments have also finally been updated! A few more people seem to be playing LIVE Pro-Am, which is promising. NBA Live is returning to the mobile platform with a free game. Since the list of platforms is expanding, can we get a PC version, please? NBA Live 17 will reportedly add venues for the Goodman League, Drew League, and Dyckman Basketball Tournament. Sounds good to us. What do we think NBA Live 17 needs to do to grab attention and generate interest among basketball gamers? Our Week in Basketball Gaming includes more Ultimate Team stories, and some MyCAREER advice. The 2016 NBA All-Star Weekend is in the books. We loved the Slam Dunk Contest; the All-Star Game, not so much. We list our top three favourite All-Star Weekends of all-time. Yes, there are some old school picks in there. Chris Bosh is reportedly facing another health scare, though the Miami Heat are insisting otherwise. Who's changing address at the trade deadline? We run down some of the rumours making the rounds. Episode #147	Andrew & Arcane	Basketball skill development coach and former Harlem Globetrotter Derick Grant revealed that he has been participating in some motion capture sessions for NBA Live 17. Unfortunately we can't play it ourselves, but NBA Live Mobile has been receiving some positive reactions from gamers. We discuss an unfortunate bug in the NBA Live 16 rosters that is affecting this year's rookie crop. The NBA Live 14 and NBA Live 15 servers are still up and running. As you'd expect though, there's not a lot of activity. Mike Wang's comments on Stephen Curry causing problems in the development of NBA 2K leads to some thoughts on realism in basketball video games. More MyCAREER and Ultimate Team tales as we discuss our week in basketball gaming. We talk about the reasons people go back and patch older games like NBA Live 08, and our enthusiasm for getting involved every once in a while. The trade deadline did not exactly live up to our expectations...or for that matter, our predictions. We recap all the recent player movement. Shockingly, the Portland Trail Blazers handed the Golden State Warriors a 32 point loss. They're still on track to challenge 72-10, though. It's not looking promising for Chris Bosh, as he's on the verge of being shut down for the second straight season due to health problems. Sean Marks has become the first Kiwi to get an NBA GM gig. Episode #148	Andrew & Arcane	We tip things off with a reminder about our Wishlist threads for NBA Live 17 and NBA 2K17. We're pleased to say that the issue with dunk packages that we discussed last week has been resolved in the latest roster update for NBA Live 16. A lot of NBA 2K streamers have been showing NBA Live 16 some love, and the response from their viewers has been quite favourable as well. The Week 3 winners of the NBA 2K16 Road To The Finals tournament on Xbox One have been disqualified for game fixing. We don't feel sorry for them. Once again, we touch on the on-going discussion of how Stephen Curry can be accurately represented in basketball video games. A recent incident leads to another reminder about rudeness and constructive criticism in the modding community. What have we been doing on the virtual hardwood as of late? Find out in the latest edition of Our Week in Basketball Gaming! Stephen Curry had a huge week and proved a couple of NBA Legends wrong, but is everyone really a hater? "Buyout season" has a few players changing teams ahead of the Playoffs push. We recap the Miami Heat's impressive performance against the Chicago Bulls, in which Hassan Whiteside continued his strong play off the bench. Who are our favourite active NBA players? Episode #149	Andrew & Arcane	Over 100+ new items have been added to Ultimate Team in NBA Live 16. Unfortunately, the issue with standing dunks remains unresolved. A new playbook and gameplan update has been pushed through for NBA 2K16. Are we expecting any more major updates for either game? Does NBA Live need to focus less on NBA 2K, and concentrate on being itself? We reminisce about the days when there were more than two basketball games on the market, and discuss the kind of releases we'd like to see. In Our Week in Basketball Gaming: Dusting off old favourites, and getting them to work in 64-bit Windows. If the opportunity presented itself, would we join the NBA Live Development Team? Moving on to this week's NBA discussion, we chat about Stephen Curry and the Warriors, Russell Westbrook's big triple double, dysfunction in Cleveland, a new home for Dwight Howard, and a couple of surprising teams. Episode #150	Andrew & Arcane	Tipping things off with some Wishlist talk, we ask ourselves: aside from improved gameplay, what's the one enhancement that would keep us playing NBA Live 17? We also discuss a couple of recent suggestions for NBA 2K17, regarding potential ratings and Badges. Are we bothered by the NBA Live Development Team reaching out to NBA 2K gamers? Rocket League is set to receive a basketball mode called Hoops, which we're both looking forward to. Our Week in Basketball Gaming has included some time with Ultimate Team, Pro-Am, MyCAREER, and a few retro titles. NBA referee Joey Crawford has retired effectively immediately, due to his knee injuries. Speaking of knee injuries, Jahlil Okafor is set to miss the rest of his rookie season after tearing his meniscus. Could Phil Jackson return to the sidelines, only coaching the New York Knicks during home games? It seems Carmelo Anthony isn't a fan of the idea. Ben Simmons has been dethroned in the mock draft over at Draft Express. He's also been hit with a couple of unflattering comparisons. Episode #151	Andrew & Arcane	As the 2016 season winds down, new Playoff Push content has been added to Ultimate Team in NBA Live 16. NBA 2K reached a million followers on Twitter and celebrated with a Locker Code. Unfortunately, the random giveaways left something to be desired. How have the Wishlists for NBA Live 17 and NBA 2K17 been shaping up so far? Pro-Am has been well-received by some NBA Live 16 gamers. What would we like to see done with the mode in NBA Live 17? In the latest edition of Our Week in Basketball Gaming, Andrew talks a little about his recent NBA Live modding projects. The San Antonio Spurs handed the Golden State Warriors their seventh loss last week, but the defending champions are otherwise still going strong. Speaking of the Spurs, they now hold an impressive distinction over the rest of the NBA. LeBron James has unfollowed the Cleveland Cavaliers on social media. Is everyone reading too much into it, or is it indeed newsworthy? Would we see the same thing from previous generations? In sad news, NBA on TNT's Craig Sager has announced his cancer is no longer in remission. We talk about the 2016 Playoff race, and pick the teams we think will beat out their closest competitors for the eighth seed in both Conferences. Episode #152	Andrew, Arcane & Kenny	We open the show with another reminder about our NBA Live 17 and NBA 2K17 Wishlists. Get your feedback in ASAP! Since it's Kenny's first time on the NLSC Podcast, he provides some thoughts on what he'd like to see get better in NBA 2K, what he's been enjoying in NBA 2K16, and what would draw him back to NBA Live. When should NBA Live 17 be released? Should it be before, after, or at the same time as NBA 2K17? Recently, there's been talk of cross-platform play between the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. We discuss what that would mean for basketball gaming, should it ever come to fruition. Rocket League's basketball-themed add-on Hoops is set to arrive some time in April, free of charge. Episode #153	Andrew & Arcane	A new roster came through for NBA Live 16 last week. We recap some of the recent ratings changes, including the top five players in the game as of the latest roster. After a breakdown of some forthcoming Throwback Thursday content in NBA 2K16’s MyTEAM, we give some more thoughts on the mode, and compare it to NBA Live 16’s Ultimate Team. Do we expect face scanning to be available in NBA Live 17? Following on from this week’s Monday Tip-Off column, we discuss whether or not basketball video games should have downloadable content, outside of the regular roster/art updates. If you’re looking for a new basketball game to try out, Dr B has released a beta version of his Slam Dunk Contest game exclusively at the NLSC. In Our Week in Basketball Gaming: More retro gaming, and a few games of MyCAREER. Moving on to this week’s NBA discussion, Sam Hinkie appears to have grown weary of the Process, as he’s stepping down from the Philadelphia 76ers’ front office. Jerry Sloan has announced that he has Parkinson’s Disease. We wish him good health, and all the best. As the 2016 NBA season draws to a close, so too does Kobe Bryant’s career. We offer up some further thoughts on the Black Mamba’s farewell tour, as his final game looms. Shaquille O’Neal, Allen Iverson, and Yao Ming are heading to Springfield, but at least one former player doesn’t believe Yao is a deserving Hall of Famer. Tim Duncan is now the third player to amass 1000 career wins in the regular season. The Golden State Warriors need four straight wins to top 72-10. As comparisons continue, a recent article about Michael Jordan has one of us a tad riled up. Episode #153 of the NLSC Podcast ends with this week’s Bold Predictions, featuring predictions that are lofty enough to truly justify the reverb effect.	April 8th, 2016
Episode #154	Andrew & Arcane	2K have announced that Kobe Bryant will appear on the cover of a special Legend Edition of NBA 2K17. Have they also hinted at another possible cover player for this year? We discuss a reel of NBA Live 16 player faces that a graphic designer posted on YouTube. In Our Week in Basketball Gaming: Arcane's MyPLAYER gets onto 2K TV in MyCAREER, while Andrew wonders what to play next. Kobe Bryant has gone out in style, scoring 60 points in his final game. We reflect a little on the Black Mamba's legendary career. The Golden State Warriors become the first team to win 73 games, beating the Chicago Bulls' twenty year old record. We congratulate them, but grumble a little about some vocal (and hypocritical) fanboys. With the 2016 regular season in the books, we look ahead to the Playoffs and make our first round predictions. Speaking of which, we end Episode #154 of the NLSC Podcast with this week's Bold Predictions. After getting our picks right last week, can we both get a streak going as we head into the postseason? Episode #155	Andrew, Arcane & Kenny	We open Episode #155 with a look at some of the challenges that face PC basketball gaming. Of course, we'd still like to see NBA Live return to the PC, and a more modder-friendly NBA 2K. For some reason, NBA 2K16 on Steam has been tagged as a "Psychological Horror" title. Go figure. Is it currently too much of a grind to level up players in NBA Live and NBA 2K? There hasn't been much in the way of gear, shoe, and accessory updates in LIVE Pro-Am. Do we expect the content updates to improve in NBA Live 17? In Our Week in Basketball Gaming: Ultimate Team, MyTEAM, MyCAREER, and one annoying crash. Week 1 of the 2016 NBA Playoffs is in the books, and we have to admit, we're not as excited for the postseason as we'd like to be. Tom Thibodeau has joined the Minnesota Timberwolves as their new coach and president. Also, a fantastic old school photo of him has emerged. The first NBA award winners for 2016 have been announced. No arguments so far. We manage to mention the NBL, but only because it looks like Anthony Bennett is headed Down Under. This week's Bold Predictions feature a very bold prediction indeed. We wrap up Episode #155 with a chilling tale of deception. And by chilling, we actually mean kind of amusing.	April 22nd, 2016
Episode #156	Andrew, Arcane & Kenny	We'll be holding a big NBA Live giveaway soon, including copies of NBA Live 16 for PS4 and X1, and retro NBA Live games for PC. Stay tuned for more details, and check out our Facebook and Twitter for a teaser! Rocket League's Hoops add-on has arrived. It's a bit tricky, but definitely fun. In Our Week in Basketball Gaming: Tips for getting into MyTEAM, new MyLEAGUE games, and NBA Jam for the PlayStation 2, and more. With the 2016 NBA Playoffs underway, are we inclined to start any new seasons in NBA Live or NBA 2K? Turning our attention to some other gaming news, the Nintendo NX has been announced for March 2017. We discuss whether we'll be inclined to get Nintendo's next console when it comes out. We run down the past week of action in the 2016 NBA Playoffs, which has seen injuries to major players, and a couple of teams on the cusp of upsets. In other news, the Los Angeles Lakers have permission to interview Luke Walton, and the Sacramento Kings have updated their logos for the first time since 1994. Episode #157	Andrew, Arcane & Kenny	Patch #6 has been released for NBA 2K16, addressing some gameplay exploits. Predictably, not everyone is happy, but we have no complaints about eliminating cheese. Speaking of official patches, we discuss the unfortunate issue of title updates occasionally doing more harm than good in NBA Live and NBA 2K. Is advertising and freemium-like content becoming a problem in basketball video games? We touch on a recent article which offered some unorthodox suggestions for NBA Live 17. Steam is making some changes to their review system, which we're generally in favour of. In our Week in Basketball Gaming, we reflect on some recent games of 2K Pro-Am, and make a few comparisons to Live Pro-Am. The 2016 NBA Playoffs roll on, and we're starting to get into them a little more. We recap the latest results, and note some recent updates on the health of Stephen Curry and Chris Bosh. It's still a ways off, but we look ahead to a couple of potential offseason moves, as well as the first Basketball Without Borders camp that will be held in Australia. The NBA appears to have clarified the restrictions that will be placed on jersey advertisments. Unfortunately, there will still be ads on jerseys in the future. We react to the newly revealed Detroit Pistons logo, which continues the trend of paying homage to the past. Episode #158	Andrew, Arcane & Kenny	As the 2016 season draws nearer to its end, NBA Live 16's rosters are finally close to being 100% accurate. We quickly recap the May 5th update. Speaking of rosters, NBA 2K16 will be receiving a special update in which Stephen Curry will be rated 99 overall. The big news this week is the announcement that NBA Live 17 won't be out until 2017, while a new NBA Live Mobile game will be released later this year. We give our in-depth thoughts on the situation, and the future of *the NBA Live series. In Our Week in Basketball Gaming, we all team-up for some games of 2K Pro-Am, representing the NLSC in the Joel Anthony Arena. Also, we discuss some possible plans for Dynasty Mode and/or MyLEAGUE. Moving from the virtual hardwood to the real NBA, we recap the latest action from the 2016 NBA Playoffs, and revisit a few of our previous predictions. Stephen Curry has repeated as MVP, in a unanimous decision. Elsewhere, R.C. Buford has won his second Executive of the Year award. Episode #159	Andrew, Arcane & Kenny	We tip things off with an update on the latest NBA Live 16 roster patches, and Patch #6 for the PC version of NBA 2K16. With NBA Live 17 being delayed until early 2017, do we expect post-release support and content updates to be extended for NBA Live 16? In response to one of the most creative topic suggestions we've received, we compare the Golden State Warriors in NBA Live 16/NBA 2K16 to the Chicago Bulls in NBA Live 96. Yes, really! Our Week in Basketball Gaming includes triumph and tragedy in 2K Pro-Am, Dynasty and MyLEAGUE plans, and some further reflections on the future of the NBA Live series. Moving on to our NBA discussion, we ponder the futures of Chris Bosh and Tim Duncan. The 2016 Conference Finals are upon us. Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals hasn't made us fans of a certain Warriors player. It's time for another NBA Fashion Critique, as the Philadelphia 76ers get a jersey sponsor for the 2018 season, and the Utah Jazz unveil their new branding. Episode #160	Andrew, Arcane & Kenny	NBA Live 16 has been added to The Vault for EA Access members. Xbox One users will also be able to play NBA 2K16 for free this weekend. Patch V6 has been released for the PC version of NBA 2K16, and not everyone is happy about it. We personally have no complaints. A couple of tidbits about NBA 2K17 were revealed over the past week, specifically some of the talent who are mo-capping dunks for this year's game from Visual Concepts. Do we think footplanting is too exaggerated in NBA 2K16? What are our thoughts on "body blocks/steals"? Will NBA 2K17 expand upon the features in MyLEAGUE Online? We discuss some features that have gone missing from basketball games over the years, and out of a list of three, we pick which one we'd like to see return. Similarly, we're presented with a choice of three old basketball games to remake: NBA Fastbreak '98, NBA In the Zone 2, and ESPN NBA 2K5. Which would we each choose? How do we choose a team for franchise modes when we want a change from controlling our favourite NBA team? It seems that former NBA player Jamario Moon is providing motion capture for NBA Live 17, suggesting that a fully featured console release is definitely still in development. Speaking of NBA Live 17, a recent report by GameInformer has revealed that all EA Sports titles will apparently be making the transition from the Ignite engine to the Frostbite engine. We discuss what this might mean *for the NBA Live series moving forward. We remind PlayStation Plus subscribers to pick up the PlayStation 4 version of NBA 2K16 via June's Instant Game Collection, if they don't already own it, or would like to double-dip. Episode #167	Andrew, Arcane & Kenny	A new NBA Live 16 roster has been pushed through, featuring pre-Draft transactions such as Derrick Rose to New York. Unfortunately, it seems that no further offseason updates are planned at this time. Development of NBA Live 17 is still underway, as EA reps have been posting photos of rookie face scans that are being conducted during Summer League play. Our latest 2K Pro-Am sessions have yielded more fun and frustration, including an impressive win with a very undersized centre, and a somewhat angry dunk. A couple more community members have also recently joined in the fun. The NBA has announced further changes to the Hack-a-Shaq rules. A lot of fans are criticising the decision, but we've got a very different take on the matter. Tim Duncan announced his retirement with little fanfare, walking away from the NBA in the most Tim Duncan way possible. Could we see a lot more signature animations, when the game drops in early 2017? The final two pre-order bonuses for NBA 2K17 have been confirmed, with one of them being the 1992 Dream Team (Charles Barkley included!). We discuss whether or not it's a fair move to make content like that pre-order exclusive. We also note that Danilo Gallinari will appear on the Italian cover of NBA 2K17, and give our thoughts on the first official screenshot featuring (most of) Team USA 2016. For anyone who is still speculating on whether EA is planning on dropping the console version of NBA Live in favour of the mobile platform, their latest investor release mentions a console release for Live in Q1 2017. We react to the trailer, and some of us struggle to correctly articulate the name of the US national anthem. Will an increase in video game prices and the rise of microtransactions result in longer development cycles for sports games? What are some of our favourite moments in Dynasty Mode/franchise modes over the years? Which was the best edition of the mode? Episode #172	Andrew, Arcane & Kenny	2K has been releasing NBA 2K17 screenshots all week, which has given us all something to analyse. What do we make of the screens that have been released so far? What we really want to see, however, is gameplay, and deep dive developer blogs. Once again, we discuss how quiet this preview season has been. On a brighter note, NBA 2K17 will be appearing at Gamescom, which should at least mean more to talk about next week...and shaky, over-the-shoulder footage. Episode #173	Andrew, Arcane & Kenny	After a very quiet preview season, the floodgates have seemingly opened on NBA 2K17 news. We begin with a few thoughts on the "Friction" trailer. Hands-on impressions from various media outlets have given us some information about a few of the key changes to gameplay this year. We break down some of the key points, and give our opinions. Does this year's Achievement list tell us anything about NBA 2K17, specifically the direction of MyCAREER? Player ratings are starting to be revealed, and Karl-Anthony Towns' 88 Overall in particular has caught our eye. Speaking of Towns, he's been revealed as the cover player for the MyNBA2K17 app. As hinted at a few months ago, the app will include face scanning capabilities, but unfortunately the PC version has been left out. We reflect on an incident involving basketball gamers and NBA 2K's community managers on Twitter last week, which rubbed quite a few people the wrong way. Following their best ever run, the Australian Boomers fell to Spain in the bronze medal game at the 2016 Olympic Games. Episode #175	Andrew, Arcane & Kenny	We now know a lot more about what to expect from MyCAREER in NBA 2K17, by way of a developer blog and a trailer. What do we think of this year's approach? The MyNBA2K17 app is out now, but as of recording, it isn't much use yet. A couple of new tidbits about MyLEAGUE and MyCAREER have given us some ideas for league expansion. We're also really glad that there'll be no four point line. The Arena Authenticity trailer spotlighted some cool presentation elements, but are we particularly hyped about them? Episode #176	Andrew & Arcane	NBA 2K17 is almost here! A new Momentous Trailer marks the occasion; did it hype us up? We give our thoughts on The Prelude, from the glimpse at the story to our hands-on impressions of how the game feels on the sticks. Face scanning has had mixed results so far, but at least one of us is happy not to be dealing with the PlayStation Camera anymore. There's also been some good news, as the MyNBA2K17 app will support face scanning for the PC version. NBA 2K17 will feature an expanded roster of broadcasters, and dynamic commentary. We certainly like the sound of that. Although it's put an end to an idea we had for a game of MyLEAGUE Online, the developer blog for MyLEAGUE, MyGM, and the aforementioned MLO has delivered some otherwise fantastic news. MyTEAM has received some solid improvements in NBA 2K17, but we're still a bit sceptical about how good the pack odds will be. How honest is that trailer? NBA 2K17 has taken a shot at NBA Live (or more specifically, NBA Elite 11) which frankly, we find to be a little petty. We discuss the potshot, and things get a little profane in the process. Episode #177	Andrew, Arcane & Kenny	Before we get into our initial impressions of NBA 2K17, we note that our community is already hard at work figuring out how to mod the game. In fact, some of the first mods have already been released! We tip off our NBA 2K17 impressions with our take on gameplay, including our opinions on the new shooting mechanics, the responsiveness of the controls, and more. After "Livin' Da Dream" left us feeling underwhelmed last year, we're actually not too down on the story in this year's MyCAREER. There are a few other things we're liking about this year's mode, too. Unfortunately, 2K Pro-Am has been somewhat of a frustrating experience so far. We comment on the new features we like, the removal of customisation out of the gate (which we don't), and some annoying moments with the mode's gameplay. On a more positive note, we have a lot of good things to say about MyLEAGUE, MyGM, and MyLEAGUE Online. We're all looking forward to getting into some more franchise gaming in NBA 2K17. Episode #178	Andrew, Arcane & Kenny	We tip things off with another quick update on some recent advancements in NBA 2K17 modding. Our community has continued to make some exciting discoveries over the past week. Our plans to pick up where we left off with the NLSC 2K Pro-Am team have hit a snag, as the mode has not been kind to us. In fact, following patch 1.03, it's close to unplayable. We share a few of our complaints. Once again, we touch on the fact that Virtual Currency rewards have been severely nerfed in this year's game, and wonder if the new patch has reduced them even further. While we have our complaints this week, it's not all bad news. We still have a very high opinion of offline/single player gameplay in NBA 2K17, and have some positive experiences to share. Wrapping up Our Week in Basketball Gaming, a few thoughts on finishing the Jordan Challenge in NBA 2K11, ahead of next week's Wayback Wednesday feature. After 21 NBA seasons, Kevin Garnett is hanging up his sneakers. We reflect on the career of The Big Ticket, the last remaining NBA player from the 16-bit era. Our modding community continues to do some fantastic work, as 3D editing has come to this year's game. It's been brought to our attention that in order to upgrade your MyPLAYER beyond 95 Overall, you need to level up your reputation in MyPARK. We're not too thrilled to hear that. In Our Week in Basketball Gaming: 2K Pro-Am has actually been fun! Also, some of our recent achievements in MyCAREER. Bad news for first overall pick Ben Simmons, as he'll be out for some time after fracturing his foot before his rookie season has even begun. Episode #181	Andrew & Arcane	A European eSports tournament for NBA 2K17 is tipping off next weekend. We're not eligible ourselves, and we're also more casual in our approach to online gaming besides, but it's cool to see nevertheless. The Nintendo Switch (codenamed Nintendo NX) has been revealed, and it seems it will have much stronger third party support, including a port of NBA 2K17. Will we be picking it up? As our NBA 2K17 modding community continues to do some great work, we also want to recognise the efforts several users have been making in keeping older games up to date. We quickly round up some of the recent releases for older NBA Live and NBA 2K titles. In Our Week in Basketball Gaming: a couple of really fun sessions of 2K Pro-Am with more clutch wins, and a lengthy winning streak in MyCAREER. Some interesting rumours are making the rounds about LaMarcus Aldridge possibly being traded by the San Antonio Spurs. Elton Brand has reportedly changed his mind about playing one more season, and will be calling it a career. One of us wishes he could've spent more time in Chicago. Episode #184	Andrew & Arcane	We've started the ball rolling on our NBA 2K18 Wishlist, and encourage everyone to get involved in posting some constructive feedback for the development team. Off the top of our heads, what are some of the main issues we'd like to see addressed in NBA 2K18? Patch 1.05 has been released for NBA 2K17, addressing several bugs and tuning a few elements of the game. Some fixes are working better than others, but at least the timeout glitch is gone from 2K Pro-Am. New rosters are also coming through for NBA 2K17 again, and a recent update has added Steve Nash back to the 2003 Mavericks and 2005 Suns. What do we make of the radio silence from EA Sports regarding NBA Live 17? What do we think is going to happen with the game, and what are our expectations? Some excellent retro mods have been created so far! It seems that Patch 1.06 for NBA 2K17 is in the pipeline. What do we expect it to fix? What do we want it to fix? Dime Magazine recently posted a countdown of the ten funniest glitches in NBA 2K. Which ones have we experienced ourselves? There's been a lot of dissatisfaction with 2K Sports recently, as several YouTubers have been banned for unclear Terms of Service violations. We discuss 2K's handling of the situation. What are some of our favourite jerseys that aren't available in NBA 2K17? In Our Week in Basketball Gaming: a reminder that career modes have come a long way since NBA 2K10, and the most recent 2K Pro-Am games for the NLSC THRILLHO squad. Episode #186	Andrew & Arcane	2K is presenting the "Park After Dark" event in MyPARK this weekend, with Snoop Dogg making an in-game appearance as DJ Snoopadelic. It's not really our thing, but it does sound kind of fun for MyPARK players. NBA 2KVR has been announced. Might some of the technology be adapted for use in the main game in future years? NBA 2K17 has received Patch 1.06. Although some issues have been resolved, unfortunately it seems that some new bugs have also arisen, and not everyone is happy with the tweaked gameplay. We're starting to hear promising bits and pieces about NBA Live 17 from developers on social media. Senior Producer Mike Mahar also had a few things to say about the game in a recent chat to FOX 13 News in Tampa Bay. We react to the fallout, and offer up a couple of thoughts on the event. There's been some discontent in our community regarding the recent patches for NBA 2K17. Are the patches messing up the game more than they're fixing and improving it? Do NBA Live's social media accounts offer any indication as to what's happening with NBA Live 17? What will happen with NBA Live Mobile as we get closer to the game's console comeback? Episode #188	Andrew & Arcane	In response to a question on Twitter, EA Sports has reiterated that NBA Live 17 will be released in the first quarter of 2017, and that more news will be released closer to the game coming out. Patch 1.07 has come through for NBA 2K17, and seems to primarily be an update for the upcoming eSports tournaments. Still, we wonder why it took 24 hours to post three whole patch notes. We react to some drama in the NBA 2K YouTube community, and compare it to some of the issues we've seen in our modding community over the years. Episode #189	Andrew & Arcane	Patch 1.07 is out now for the PC and Xbox One versions of NBA 2K17. Once again, we can't help but remark on the difference in size between the three patches, despite them all containing the same content and fixes. The next eSports tournament for NBA 2K17 has officially been announced, with another $250,000 up for grabs. We're not able to take part, but that might actually be for the best. In Our Week in Basketball Gaming: a clutch victory with unexpected heroics in 2K Pro-Am, and dusting off a couple of classics. The NBA and Players Union have come to terms on a new agreement, thankfully avoiding a lockout at the end of the season (or so it would seem). We wrap up Episode #189 of the NLSC Podcast with a discussion of the late Craig Sager, and some of the beautiful tributes from players, coaches, and broadcasters in the wake of his passing. Episode #190	Andrew & Arcane	We tip things off by talking about our Basketball Game of the Year. Or, in other words, which game we've enjoyed the most out of the three that we've been playing regularly at some point over the past twelve months. There's been some interesting and surprising news and events in 2016, both in basketball gaming and the real NBA. We recap some of the major stories, including NBA Live 17's delay, the mixture of controversy and exciting details during the NBA 2K17 preview season, the Cleveland Cavaliers' championship, the retirement of several big names, and more. Back in June, we had a stressful time here at the NLSC when it looked like we might have to scale back or even shut down operations after our former host informed us that they were closing up shop. Fortunately, we found a new home and expect to be around for a while yet. Thank you to everyone who has donated to the hosting fund, or continues to support the site in other ways! As 2016 draws to a close, we look ahead to 2017. What do we want to achieve next year? What are some of the things that we have planned?
