Pick and Roll Control
Pick and Roll Control (also written as Pick & Roll Control) is an element of gameplay introduced in NBA Live 09. It allows the user to call for a pick and control of the actions of a teammate while retaining control of the ballhandler. Depending on how long the Pick and Roll Control button is held, the teammate setting the pick will attempt an immediate cut to the basket, "roll" towards the basket on a pick and roll play or step back in position for a jumpshot in a pick and pop play. The ballhandler may also elect to use the pick to get to the basket or take a wide open shot.
[edit] Usage
Pick and Roll Control can be utilised by holding the Right Trigger on the Xbox 360 or R2 on the Playstation 3. When held, a player will move over to set a screen for the ballhandler and a meter will appear above their heads. Releasing the button before the pick is set will result in the player performing a slip and immediately cutting to the hoop, otherwise the meter will begin to fill once the pick is set. While the meter is in the red zone, releasing the Pick and Roll Control button will result in a pick and roll play with the player setting the pick rolling to the basket. Once the meter is in the blue zone however a pick and pop play will be executed with the player setting the pick stepping out into position for a jumpshot.
[edit] Reception
Reaction to Pick and Roll Control's introduction into the series has been mostly positive however there has been some criticism of the feature for being too powerful at times. Exploitation of the feature is especially a concern in online play.
