Player Lock in NBA Live 07

Player Lock is a gameplay feature first introduced in NBA Live 98, which allows the user to control a single player on their team rather than being able to switch between all players in the lineup. It is activated in the Controller Setup screen and can only be toggled in the Pause Menu once the game begins. Off-Ball Control is an extension of the Player Lock concept.

[edit] Using Player Lock

Player Lock is generally used when the user wishes to take control of their favourite player (or a created version of themselves) for the course of an entire game rather than controlling the entire team. It is frequently used in Dynasty Stories to simulate a single player career mode. While controlling a player without the ball, the user can force the CPU controlled player to shoot or pass the ball by pressing the corresponding action buttons.

[edit] Criticism

While Player Lock is popular amongst certain NBA Live players, many players find it inadequate and frustrating as the CPU ballhandler doesn't always effectively run plays or move into a position where it can make a safe pass. Many feel that this aspect of Player Lock makes it a more challenging option that it should be and as such, less desirable.
