Retired Pool
The Retired Pool (sometimes referred to as Retired Players Pool or simply Retired Players) is a special hidden team in NBA Live used for players that have retired during a Dynasty or Franchise game. Players that are placed in the Retired Pool do not appear in the active rosters and cannot be signed by NBA teams. In addition to designating players as retired and eventually clearing them from the database during a Dynasty game, it can also be used to essentially remove players from the game in roster updates as any player placed in the Retired Pool in a custom roster will be cleared from the database upon starting a new Dynasty game. The traditional Team ID number for the Retired Pool is 32.
It remains the most effective means of removing a player from the game. While assigning a player a TEAMID value of 38 (Referee Pool or a non-existent ID number will achieve the same effect, placing a player in the Referee Pool will cause them to show up on the sidelines as referees and assigning them a non-existent ID may cause problems if that ID number is later used for a custom team. Deleting players from the database can also cause problems and is not recommended, as players placed in the Retired Pool will be cleared from the database anyway upon starting a new Dynasty game.
