Spamming
Spamming refers to the act of posting unwanted (ie "spam") messages in a forum. Spam may refer to four main types of messages that may be posted by forum users.

[edit] Advertising Products
Generally speaking the advertisement of products and merchandise is not allowed in the NLSC Forum. This kind of post is usually made by spambots, software that automatically registers forum accounts and posts advertisements for products and websites, occasionally concerning pornographic content. It is NLSC policy to remove these unwanted accounts and posts as quickly as possible.
[edit] Advertising Websites
While members of the forum are welcome to include links to their websites in their profile, signature and in announcement threads in the appropriate section of the forum, the approach of posting advertisements throughout the forum or harassing other members in an effort to promote their work is against forum rules.
[edit] Posting in multiple sections
Posting the same thread in multiple sections of the forum is considered spamming and is actively discouraged. Aside from keeping the forum tidy and maintaining the structure of the forum sections, it also allows both the original poster and those who wish to reply to keep track of the discussion.
[edit] Nonsense posts
Posts that are nonsensical, contribute little to the discussion taking place or attempt to divert a thread off-topic in a negative manner are also classed as spam. Common examples include:
- One word posts such as "yes", "no" and "lol"
- Nonsensical typing such as "dkdksjasdfkjasd"
- Comments about the topic that are not constructive or productive, such as "shut up", "who cares" and "boring topic"
- Posts that consist only of emoticons
- Posts that are made simply for the sake of increasing one's post count. A common example would be reviving an inactive thread to respond to a question that has already been answered, simply by reiterating or directly quoting another member's response without adding any further advice or information.
