Threads
Threads (also referred to as topics, singular thread or topic) are the top level of user posts in a forum. Threads contain messagesd that may ask or answer questions, offer advice or an opinion, or discuss a variety of subjects specific to the section it is posted in.

Sticky and Announcement threads are forms of "pinned threads", known as such because they always appear at the top of the page (as though pinned to a bulletin board). Such threads are usually of more importance or greater interest to posters, and may include notices about forum rules and policy, popular topics, FAQ lists and other special announcements. Announcements are the top level of pinned threads and appear on all pages within the section they are posted. Sticky threads are pinned just below Announcements and are only displayed on the first page of the section in which they are posted.
