Patching work
Tuomas made his first and most patches under the username Finnboy, which refers to his nationality. His first patches were for the newest game at that time, NBA Live 2003 . For that game, Tuomas made over dozen of cyberfaces and later preferred making Complete Updates after he learned to make different material as well. At first he stuck to simply posting his patches at his own site and submitting his files to NLSC. He later registered on the forums as well and also started to post also at nbalive.org. After NBA Live 2003 , he lost some interest and that resulted in only a couple of patches for NBA Live 2004 and one for NBA Live 2005 . Tuomas ran his own NBA Live website for several years before joining Live Design and later the NLSC. Tuomas considers his Allen Iverson Complete Update for 2003 as his finest work.
Personal
Tuomas lives in Finland and is one of the few community members from Scandinavia along with Andreas Dahl . He currently fights for free time among university studies, basketball and gaming in general. These all keep him away from the NBA Live series, among the opinions he has for the last additions to the series. Tuomas names NBA Live 2001 as his favourite Live game while ranking NBA Street Vol. 2, GTA San Andreas and Def Jam Fight For NY as his other favourite games. Currently his plans to purchase an Xbox 360 are on hold due to financial problems. Tuomas' favourite NBA players are Allen Iverson and Vince Carter.
Opinions on the NBA Live Series
As a passionate gamer and basketball fan, Tuomas has always had strong opinions on every game he has played. He defends NBA Live 2000 and NBA Live 2001 for their realism and their PC designed base and also NBA Live 2004 for it's gameplay. In attempt to resurrect some interest to these older installations and draw attention to some problems in the newer games, Tuomas has posted Dynasty Stories for both 2001 and 2004 in the NLSC Forum. Tuomas cites the following issues as the reason for his lack of enjoyment of more recent games in the series:
- Smaller textures compared to previous games
- Players have no facial expressions and show no or little humanlike-behaviour in addition to normal animations
- Big gameplay issues such as slugginess and unrealistic ball physics
- Animations are too much tied to each other, can be seen most racically when blocking or stealing
