It’s the first Thursday of 2016, so we’re tipping off another year of digital broadcasting with Episode #140 of the NLSC Podcast! This week we’re catching up on all the news and events that took place over the holiday break, and discussing some topics submitted by our listeners. Seeing as how we’ve been off the air for a couple of weeks, Episode #140 is a bit longer than usual, but the show should be back to its normal length starting next week.
On this week’s show…
- There wasn’t a whole lot of news over the break, but 2K did announce that eSports are coming to NBA 2K16 in early 2016.
- NBA Live 16 hasn’t received any significant content updates over the past couple of weeks. Should there be more content coming through for the game?
- Wishlist season is looming. What are some of our main wishes for NBA Live 17 and NBA 2K17?
- What does NBA Live need to do to gain momentum and start catching up to NBA 2K?
- We give our thoughts on the direction of Ultimate Team and MyTEAM. How interested are we in the card collecting modes?
- Joey Crawford is finally hanging up his whistle. Spoiler: We’re not exactly heartbroken.
- The Golden State Warriors are still on pace to challenge the Chicago Bulls’ 72-10 record. Draymond Green is turning into a triple double machine.
- We discuss the controversy with Markieff Morris in Phoenix, and defend our generation.
- Arcane is doing well with our weekly Bold Predictions. Andrew is yet to get on the board.
- This week’s trivia question is about Michael Jordan. Can you get the answer before Arcane?
- Twitter is looking to expand its character limit. Are we in favour of the change, and how many characters would we prefer?
- We wrap up Episode #140 of the NLSC Podcast with some New Year’s Resolutions, and an unfortunate clerical error involving C.J. McCollum.

I think one of the reasons why live 16 doesn’t look great from a distance is because everyone has the same player model it seems still even with the body scanning because they all move the same way it just looks unnatural.
Live 16 just got a roster and data update but still no knicks kp or Gallo scan (my nightmare continues)
My wish list for live 17 is dynasty dynasty dynasty!
Roster editing… New animations for the post and I’d love it if they stopped over hyping the game, honestly I think they are there own worst enemy here because the game just doesn’t live upto there own hype and seems like as soon as the new game drops we all have the “NEXT YEAR” talk.
Also was it just me but was Ben’s mic really hard to hear?
Great show guys and well done Ben with the very Bold predictions!
And nice job with that (half trick) question at the end, I picked the Raptors!
Apologies for the audio issues, unfortunately Ben’s mic did record more softly than I anticipated as he sounded fine on my headset. I fixed it up as best I could without raising his volume to the point where there’d be an audible hum, and also avoided truncating silence. We’ll be double-checking that in the future, just to be absolutely sure.
If there’s only time to focus on one game mode, I do hope it’s Dynasty. There’s a lot of basic functionality that needs to be brought back for a start, and some depth that desperately needs to be added. Definitely no waiting for NBA Live 18 on some of these things.
Good point about the body models. I also wonder whether the zoom and the size of the players on the court is also an issue. Because they do look very good when you zoom in on instant replay, but the regular gameplay camera angles don’t make them look quite as impressive.
Good show fellas. I caught most of it up until the trick MJ question at the end. Good one! Not sure if you noticed it Andrew but I left Twitter (again) for several reasons and not just because of gaming. With that said, feel free to use the hashtag I was trying to get started for Live 17 which was #AllOrNothing That’s what they gotta do like you guys said, Go all out. Also, mp3 makes a good point up there. Stop hyping it the game up so much. It’s put up or shut up time.
Another suggestion I have for you guys is to maybe start interviewing more people in the community to sort of mix and stir things up a little. Thoughts?
Thanks Izzy! I did notice that you’d left Twitter. Certainly might have to appropriate that hashtag!
We’d definitely like to do some community interviews in addition to developer ones, so we’ll see what we can do. I’d still like to get you on some time if you’re still interested.
I’d be down to shoot the ish with you fellas. Just let me know ahead of time when you’d like to get it done as you know for us old people (lol), we’re busy!
No doubt! Let’s see what we can set up, I’ll shoot you a PM in the Forum to sort it out sometime soon.
