New NBA Live 15 Screenshot; News Recap

EA Sports has posted a new NBA Live 15 screenshot over on the game’s official Facebook page, showing off the Cleveland Cavaliers’ Quicken Loans Arena in this year’s game. You can find the full-size image below, as well as in our NBA Live 15 Screenshots gallery.

We also posted a great deal of information on NBA Live 15 earlier this week, via our interview with Executive Producer Sean O’Brien. Sean provided us with some answers on a variety of topics, including controls, animation improvements, what’s happening with Dynasty Mode this year and in the future, what the trial version of NBA Live 15 will include, and so much more. We’ll be compiling an article to provide you with an info dump very soon, but in the meantime, I also recapped some of the highlights of the interview in this week’s Friday Five.

Finally, some hands-on impressions of an early build of the game were posted over on Stay tuned for more NBA Live 15 coverage in the near future and as always, feel free to add your thoughts in the comments below, as well as join in the discussion here in the Forum.

The Friday Five: 5 Best Things We Know About NBA Live 15 So Far

The Friday Five

Welcome to this week’s edition of The Friday Five! This is a feature that I post every Friday in which I give my thoughts on a topic that’s related to basketball video games, the real NBA or another area of interest to our community, either as a list of five items or in the form of a Top 5 countdown.

As you may already know, Episode #90 of the NLSC Podcast featured a lengthy interview with the Executive Producer of NBA Live 15, Sean O’Brien. Sean answered our many questions honestly, and in great detail; as such, we learned a lot about this year’s game, as well as the future of the NBA Live series. This was naturally a very big deal for us, with a lot of good information coming out of the interview.

If you haven’t listened to it yet, I certainly encourage you to tune in when you get the chance. We will be compiling a written recap of everything that was discussed during the interview, but in the meantime, I want to use this week’s Friday Five to talk a little about some of the noteworthy points of interest. To that end, here are some of the best things that we know about NBA Live 15…so far.

NBA Live 15 Hands-On Impressions (

Gaetano “Xbot” Prestia of has posted some hands-on impressions of NBA Live 15, which you can check out here. His impressions were mostly positive, noting that while there is still much work to be done, the early build that he played is already showing a huge improvement over NBA Live 14.

He also confirms a few of the additions and improvements that were discussed in our interview with Sean O’Brien, such as tweaks to shooting mechanics and the addition of indicators which provide feedback on shot quality. Mike Breen and Jeff Van Gundy’s commentary was also described as being less mechanical.

It’s worth a read while we wait for some gameplay footage to come through, so check it out and feel free to have your say in the comments below, as well as here in the NBA Live 15 section of the Forum.

NBA 2K15 News Roundup

Although the biggest NBA 2K15 related news in the past 24 hours as far as our community is concerned is the reveal that the PC version will be a fully featured port of the PlayStation 4/Xbox One release, there are some other developments that I’d like to quickly recap.

For those who missed it, NBA 2K15’s soundtrack – curated by Pharrell – has been revealed, and is available to listen to on Spotify. You can also check out the complete track list below.

We also have our first screenshot of the PC version, featuring cover player Kevin Durant! You can check that out below, as well as in our NBA 2K15 Screenshots gallery.

Finally, a handful of off-screen gameplay videos have come out of Gamescom 2014, which I’ve embedded below as well. Be sure to join in all of the latest discussion in the NBA 2K15 section of the NLSC Forum!

NLSC Podcast – Episode #90 (Sean O’Brien Interview)

NLSC Podcast Logo

We’re pleased to present a special episode of the NLSC Podcast this week, as JaoSming and I had the opportunity to chat with NBA Live 15 Executive Producer, Sean O’Brien. Sean very kindly gave us a little over two hours of his time, in which he spoke very honestly about the return of the series with NBA Live 14, the team’s goals with future releases, and of course, some of the things that we can expect in NBA Live 15.

On that note, Sean gave us a lot of great info on this year’s game, including details on controls and responsiveness, physics, locomotion and animation quality, AI improvements, and enhancements to the shooting mechanics. Sean also clarified a few points about the future of game modes such as Dynasty and Rising Star, while also answering our questions about this year’s practice facilities, content updates, and even the possibility of NBA Live 14 getting further roster updates before NBA Live 15 comes out.

That’s just the tip of the iceberg, so don’t delay any longer: click Play to listen to the show!

A huge thanks to Sean once again for coming on the Podcast! As always, we welcome your thoughts on this week’s show, either in the comments below, or here in the Forum. We also invite you to join in the discussion taking place in the NBA Live 15 section of the Forum.

Beat Jao #5: One Man Takeover

Do you think you can beat me? Each week I am going to challenge the community to do something that I have already done. It could be taking a better screenshot, getting a better play, doing something with a specific player or team, or even make a better mod. I have no plan for this series, but I am going to try and make sure that these challenges shouldn’t take more than a half hour to complete.

We are going back to the roots of Beat Jao, well at least in terms of being terrible for those who are lactose intolerant. This week I want you to go out and score as many points with one player in a 2 minute quarter game. No overtime, you must win, and no one else on your team may score any points. So if you get into a late game situation, you must miss those free throws with other players. Difficulty and other settings are up to you.

After a few issues with NBA Live 14 and the PlayStation 4’s recording ‘feature’ (read: headache), I ended up going back to the cheesiest of cheese for PC mods, NBA Jam 2K14: He’s On Fire. In 8 minutes of gameplay I scored 40 points with Steve Francis from the ’02-’03 Rockets. I chose them because there are no restrictions on playing defense, so Yao Ming plus no goaltending was helpful for getting me extra possessions, fast. For all the details on the challenge check the video below, and remember to submit your scores in this Forum Thread, in the comments of this post, or on the YouTube video.

Congratulations to cool1324 who claimed to shut out LeBron James with his MyCAREER player last week. Hit Read More to see the rest of the leaderboard for last week and the overall standings.

Dumb Monday: MyDREAM

This is Dumb Mondays, starting the workweek off with silly facts or some of my opinions and predictions that you may or may not find interesting. This week I am sharing a dumb opinion of mine and will be looking for and responding to your comments throughout the week.

In case you missed it, MyLEAGUE for the next gen versions of NBA 2K15 was detailed this week. I think Steve over at OperationSports summed it up best by calling it Association “on steroids”. Essentially MyLEAGUE is an NBA sandbox. We can customize many aspects to our liking with no VC to spend or objectives to meet other than our own. On top of the customization features we, for the first time, get to change core AI aspects of mode with trades and other logic. And on top of that we get new features like the detailed “injuries 2.0” and gameplans, which will also affect MyGM. But at its core there is that customization. That customization is why I may as well call this mode MyDREAM.
