NBA Trade Deadline 2015

Well…it’s certainly been an eventful trade deadline this year!

Eleven deals went down at the 2015 NBA trade deadline, with some significant names changing teams. Kevin Garnett is returning to the team where he started his career, as the Brooklyn Nets traded him to the Minnesota Timberwolves for Thaddeus Young. Michael Carter-Williams has gone to the Milwaukee Bucks, Goran Dragic got his wish and was sent to the Miami Heat, and the Portland Trail Blazers picked up Arron Afflalo, to name but a few of the deals.

You can check out a full breakdown of the 2015 NBA trade deadline here over on NBA.com. What do you make of all the trades that went down? Feel free to sound off in the comments below, as well as join in the discussion taking place here in the NBA & Basketball Talk section of the NLSC Forum!

New Pre-Trade Deadline Roster Update for NBA Live 15

A new roster update for NBA Live 15 has been pushed through, accurate as of just before this year’s trade deadline. As such, it doesn’t include any of the deals that have gone down today, but at a glance, it appears as though several player ratings have been updated.

Notably, Slam Dunk Champion Zach LaVine and Three-Point Shootout Champion Stephen Curry have received minor boosts to their Dunk and Three-Point ratings respectively, an increase of 73 to 77 for LaVine, and small jump of 92 to 93 for Curry. Both players currently have All-Star edition cards in Ultimate Team, which boost those ratings to 98.

It also seems that the starting line-up for the West All-Stars hasn’t been updated as yet, as Dirk Nowitzki is still starting ahead of LaMarcus Aldridge, who ultimately got the nod after Anthony Davis was ruled out due to injury. With the trade deadline done and dusted, I expect that another roster will be on the way very soon with all of the new transactions, as well as updated line-ups and ratings.

As always, feel free to post any feedback on the rosters here in the NBA Live 15 section of the Forum.

Latest Legends, All-Star Cards in NBA Live 15 Ultimate Team

Spud Webb and Yao Ming are the next two Legends who will be available in NBA Live 15 Ultimate Team. They’ll be randomly available in packs beginning this weekend, and can currently be faced in a Fantasy Challenge.

YAO MING, HOUSTON ROCKETS C
At 7’6, Yao was one of the most physically imposing and skilled centers in NBA history. He made eight All-Star Games despite having his career cut short by a number of injuries.

SPUD WEBB, ATLANTA HAWKS G
Despite standing just 5’7, Webb won the 1986 Slam Dunk Contest and averaged nearly 10 PPG across 12 seasons and five different teams.

Speaking of new Ultimate Team content, a few 2015 NBA All-Star Weekend player cards are now available. All-Star MVP Russell Westbrook’s card features boosted ratings across the board, Slam Dunk Contest Champion Zach LaVine’s card boosts his Dunk rating to 98 (currently 73 in the regular rosters!), and Three-Point Shootout Champion Stephen Curry has a three-point rating of 98 (compared to 92 in the regular roster). You can check out some screenshots of the All-Star cards below.

  • As you may have expected, we didn’t do so well on our predictions for the 2015 NBA All-Star Weekend. Nevertheless, we give our thoughts on all of the events.

All-Star Weekend Roster Update for NBA Live 15

Another roster update was pushed through for NBA Live 15 over the weekend, updating the All-Star line-ups with all of the injury replacements. It also adds James Harden and Klay Thompson to the starting line-up for the West, as per coach Steve Kerr’s announcement.

Additionally, the Mo Williams trade has now been included, bringing the NBA team rosters completely up to date. As usual, the players involved in the deal won’t be playable in Tip Off until they’ve played a game for their new teams, as Tip Off rosters are powered by the latest Synergy data.

Remember that you can post any feedback on the NBA Live 15 rosters here in our Forum.

Trio of Dunking Legends Coming to NBA Live 15 Ultimate Team

This week’s new Legends in NBA Live 15 Ultimate Team are “The Human Highlight Film” Dominique Wilkins, “Dr J.” Julius Erving, and Darryl Dawkins, aka “Chocolate Thunder”. The trio of devastating and dynamic dunkers will be available in random packs beginning this weekend, and can currently be faced in a Fantasy Challenge.

JULIUS “DR. J” ERVING, PHILADELPHIA 76ERS F
Dr. J is one of the game’s all-time greats, known for his signature dunks. After starring in the ABA, he helped lead the Philadelphia 76ers to the 1983 NBA Championship.

DOMINIQUE WILKINS, ATLANTA HAWKS F
“The Human Highlight Reel” followed in Dr. J’s footsteps as a devastating dunker. He made nine All-Star teams and averaged nearly 25 PPG in his career.

DARRYL DAWKINS, PHILADELPHIA 76ERS C
Dawkins was another of the NBA’s best dunkers, and shattered a couple of backboards in his career. He shot over 57 percent in his career.

The Friday Five: 5 Memorable All-Star Weekend Moments

The Friday Five

Welcome to this week’s edition of The Friday Five! This is a feature that I post every Friday in which I give my thoughts on a topic that’s related to basketball video games, the real NBA or another area of interest to our community, either as a list of five items or in the form of a Top 5 countdown.

I was originally going to post my predictions for the 2015 All-Star Weekend in this week’s Friday Five, but Arcane and I ended up discussing our picks in Episode #109 of the NLSC Podcast. So, rather than repeat myself in written form, I’ll simply invite you to go back and listen to the show if you’re interested in my predictions, and talk about something else related to All-Star Weekend.

I’ve instead decided to list five memorable moments from All-Star Weekends gone by. It’s not a Top 5 countdown of the greatest or most well-known moments, nor a list of my absolute favourite moments, as those would probably all be Michael Jordan related. MJ does feature a couple of times in this list – you knew he would – but I’m also picking a couple of other moments that stand out in my memory, and not all of them are highlight plays. Without any further ado, here are five memorable All-Star Weekend moments, that you may or may not recall.

February 11th Roster & Content Update for NBA Live 15

A new roster and content update has been pushed through for NBA Live 15. In addition to the latest lineups and transactions, the new roster also includes the 2015 All-Star court and jerseys. At a glance, both are looking accurate.

As usual, several player ratings have been updated, as the latest roster includes over 3300 changes to 438 players. The Miami Heat’s Hassan Whiteside is one of the biggest movers in the latest roster, as his overall rating has jumped another three points following his impressive play in January. Check out this spreadsheet for a complete list of changes.

Finally, over 100 bug fixes have also been included in the latest update, though no further details are available at this time. If you’ve got any feedback on the rosters, feel free to post it in the comments below, as well as in this thread in the NBA Live 15 section of the Forum.
