Latest Legends in NBA Live 15 Ultimate Team: Mikan & Pettit

EA Sports are definitely going old school with the next couple of NBA Legends who will be added to Ultimate Team in NBA Live 15: George Mikan and Bob Pettit.

GEORGE MIKAN, MINNEAPOLIS LAKERS C
One of the game’s pioneers, Mikan was among the first (and best) big men in league history, winning five titles with the Minneapolis Lakers prior to their move to Los Angeles.

BOB PETTIT, MILWAUKEE/ST. LOUIS HAWKS F
Pettit was a two-time NBA MVP and led the Hawks to the NBA Championship in 1958. He averaged 26 points and 16 rebounds per game in his illustrious career.

You can discuss the latest Ultimate Team content and challenges here in the NBA Live 15 section of the Forum.

The Friday Five: 5 Ways Basketball Games Have Improved

The Friday Five

Welcome to this week’s edition of The Friday Five! This is a feature that I post every Friday in which I give my thoughts on a topic that’s related to basketball video games, the real NBA or another area of interest to our community, either as a list of five items or in the form of a Top 5 countdown.

Sports games with annual releases are an interesting beast. For developers, it’s a lot of pressure: a shorter development cycle than most video games, with a goal of putting out a release that doesn’t just seem like an expansion pack. For us gamers, especially those of us who do buy those games every year, we want to see significant progress, and not feel like we haven’t gotten value for our money. No release is perfect however, and disappointment often leads to a cynical belief that the games just aren’t showing any improvement.

The fact of the matter is, basketball video games have come a long way, and shown a great deal of improvement over the years. That’s not to say that EA Sports or Visual Concepts can rest on their laurels, or that either game is currently as close to perfection as we’d like, but the improvement over the years is certainly evident. So, in this week’s Friday Five, I’m taking a look at five ways that basketball games have improved.

Details on January 14th Roster Update for NBA Live 15

If you fire up NBA Live 15, you should notice a new roster being downloaded. The latest roster features transactions through January 12th, although a couple of those players currently aren’t available in Tip Off mode, as they haven’t yet played for their new teams. However, if you start a new Dynasty Mode game with the latest roster, those players will be available.

The new update also adjusts some player ratings, as first overall pick Andrew Wiggins and Brandon Jennings have both received boosts. Damian Lillard’s first signature shoe, the D Lillard 1, has also been added to the game, ahead of it being available in stores on February 6th.

A full breakdown of the changes since the game launched can be found in this spreadsheet. If you have any feedback on the NBA Live 15 roster updates, be sure to post it in this thread in our Forum.

Guide to Earning Badges in NBA 2K15 (Operation Sports)

For those of you who may be wondering how to earn Badges in NBA 2K15’s MyCAREER mode, producer Zach Timmerman has posted a comprehensive guide here over on Operation Sports. The guide covers every Badge in the game, and lays out all of the requirements for earning each one.

It also mentions that certain Badges can be lost as the situation changes (such as Alpha Dog and Beta Dog), and that while Badges that have been earned can carry over to the next year, you must fulfil the requirements to earn them within the same season. In other words, the necessary stats or games played to earn a Badge cannot span two different seasons.

It’s definitely worth checking out, so give it a look if you’re having trouble earning some of those Badges. If you’d like to share your own tips on how to earn any Badges, feel free to post them in the NBA 2K15 section of the NLSC Forum.

NBA 2K15 Play Improvements, Part 1 (Da_Czar)

Da_Czar has posted a new video, spotlighting the various play improvements in NBA 2K15. It makes comparisons to NBA 2K14, in particular demonstrating a lack of movement in the previous game which made it too easy to disrupt a structured offense.

Czar also demonstrates how play stability has been improved in NBA 2K15, with player movement such as back door cuts not breaking the play, but instead allowing multiple options and play branching to occur.

As always, it’s a great insight into the playcalling system, so I’d recommend checking it out. Watch it below, or catch it here on YouTube if you can’t see the embedded video.
