Da_Czar Demonstrates Freelance Offense in NBA 2K15

SimNation president and now 2K Developer Da_Czar has posted a new video, in which he shows off freelance offense in NBA 2K15. The video demonstrates the improvement in player intelligence in NBA 2K15, and reveals that teams will play their own style of freelance offense, as opposed to all teams playing the same way when the set play breaks down. These improvements are immediately apparent in comparisons to NBA 2K14.

The video obviously features raw gameplay footage, so it’s definitely worth checking out. Watch it below, or catch it here over on YouTube if you can’t see the embedded video.

The Friday Five: 5 Things to Remember About Overall Ratings

The Friday Five

Welcome to this week’s edition of The Friday Five! This is a feature that I post every Friday in which I give my thoughts on a topic that’s related to basketball video games, the real NBA or another area of interest to our community, either as a list of five items or in the form of a Top 5 countdown.

As we get closer and closer to the release of NBA Live 15 and NBA 2K15 – October 28th and October 7th respectively – we’re receiving a steady stream of information on both games. Some of the facts and figures that we’re leaning about at the moment are the overall ratings for all of the current NBA players in both titles. 2K Sports are close to revealing their final batch of player ratings, while EA Sports will be revealing lists of ratings on a daily basis through to October 16th.

Back in July last year, I wrote a Friday Five which outlined some of the problems with overall ratings in NBA Live and NBA 2K. I thought that I’d revisit that discussion in this week’s column, as I’m reminded of those issues whenever new ratings are revealed, and debate inevitably arises because someone’s overall rating doesn’t seem quite right. So, without any further ado, these are five things to keep in mind when we’re evaluating overall ratings.

44 Things We Know About NBA 2K15 (Game Informer)

Game Informer has posted an article titled 44 Things We Know About NBA 2K15, which as you can probably guess, provides us with 44 facts about NBA 2K15. It’s a significant infodump, covering gameplay, MyCAREER, presentation, and more.

A few noteworthy facts that haven’t been mentioned too much so far include the presence of a new shot meter, improvements to defensive movement, teams employing more accurate strategies and playbooks, and expanded tutorials. In terms of MyCAREER, Doc Rivers will apparently take over as the coach of your team in your second year, skill improvements are no longer micromanaged, and the teammate grade has been tweaked with the “call for bad pass” penalty being removed.

It’s definitely worth a read, so be sure to check it out for the full scoop! As always, feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below, as well as join in the discussion here in the NBA 2K15 section of the Forum.

NBA 2K15 Momentus Trailer

It’s that time of the year again. With the release of NBA 2K15 less than two weeks away, the Momentus Trailer has finally dropped, with the aim of getting everyone hyped for this year’s game. As usual, I’d say that it does the job quite admirably.

Not surprisingly, cover player Kevin Durant is featured quite prominently in the trailer, along with his Oklahoma City Thunder teammate, Russell Westbrook. Stephen Curry, James Harden, DeMar DeRozan, Andre Drummond, and NBA 2K14 cover player LeBron James are also among the players who are spotlighted.

Watch the trailer below, or catch it here on YouTube if you can’t see the embedded video. Feel free to have your say in the comments below, as well as in this thread in the NBA 2K15 section of the Forum.

Mentors in NBA 2K15’s MyCAREER

Today’s tidbit on MyCAREER in NBA 2K15 has revealed some more information on mentors in this year’s mode. In NBA 2K15, a player from every team in the league will be available to mentor your player, in cutscenes featuring their real voices. You’re able to respond positively or negatively to their advice, which in turn will affect how your career progresses.

This is obviously a step up from last year, where all interactions with your teammates involved your player speaking with a voice, while your teammates “spoke” with subtitles. For a glimpse of some of the mentoring cutscenes in NBA 2K15, check out the official trailer below, or watch it here on YouTube if you can’t see the embedded video. Chris Smoove has also provided a preview of the feature in a video that you can check out here.
