Further Update on NBA 2K13 Insights, Full Soundtrack

Both Ronnie 2K and LD2k have confirmed that there will be Developer Insight videos for NBA 2K13, instead of simply having the write-ups with a screenshot or two that we’ve seen in years past. The videos will allow us to see what the developers are talking about in action as they’re giving us the scoop, with Ronnie mentioning that the first Insight will include a little bit of gameplay footage. Be on the lookout for those, coming soon.

Additionally, the entire NBA 2K13 soundtrack, handpicked by executive producer Jay Z, is now available to listen to here on the official Facebook page. 19 of the 24 confirmed songs were made available last week, upon the official announcement of Jay Z’s involvement with the game.

NBA Live 13 Cover Leaked? (Operation Sports)

Operation Sports has a very interesting scoop today, potentially revealing the cover player of NBA Live 13 as LeBron James. OS has posted an image of the cover art that they received from an anonymous source, depicting LeBron James in a much more artistic manner compared to previous covers. You can check out the image for yourself below.

In our current poll, LeBron James is the popular prediction for the NBA Live 13 cover, with 61% of the vote as of this post. Is he your pick as well? What do you think of the possibly leaked cover? Have your say in the comments below, as well as in this thread in the NBA Live 13 section of our Forum.

File Additions for NBA Live 2004

Yes, we still have a few folks playing and updating NBA Live 2004! Here’s a new file addition for one of the more popular games in the series, a face update for Anthony Davis.

Jacque Vaughn Coach Face Released; Update on 2013 Season Rosters

I’ve created a Jacque Vaughn coach face patch for NBA Live 08, converted from his original player face by EA. It includes a batch file which will automatically update any coaches.dbf file with the necessary values, or if you’d like to make the changes manually, I’ve included that information in the readme.txt. file. The patch can also be used with NBA Live 2005, NBA Live 06 and NBA Live 07 and is available to download here.

I’d also like to give everyone a quick update on the status of the roster updates for this coming season. As I’ve mentioned before, I’m taking the rosters year-by-year at the moment. With NBA Live 13 being a console only release and a decent amount of people still playing and patching NBA Live 2005-08, I’ve decided that I’ll maintain the roster updates for at least one more season. I’ve already started on them and hope to have them out in time for the start of the season this year. With no lockout to dim my enthusiasm, I’m much more optimistic about that goal.

However, no exact release date is set for the next update at this time. Furthermore, I will not be setting an exact release date just yet and I ask that you please do not pester me about the release date or the current status of the update. I’ll try to keep you all informed of where I’m at with the rosters but please understand that being needled about the updates just makes them that much more of a chore and it doesn’t encourage me to get them out any quicker; if anything, it makes me feel like pulling the plug on them and avoiding all the bother. As always, your patience and support are very much appreciated!

NBA 2K13 to Feature Kinect Support

As originally revealed on 360sync.com by way of the Amazon listing, it appears as though the Xbox 360 version of NBA 2K13 will feature support for Kinect. No further details are available at this time and Kinect support hasn’t been mentioned in any of the previews so far, but the news isn’t surprising given that last year the PlayStation 3 version of NBA 2K12 introduced support for PlayStation Move.

What are your thoughts on motion controls in sports sims? Do you think a game like NBA 2K13 truly would be “better with Kinect”? Sound off in the comments below, as well as in this thread in our Forum.

NBA Live 13 Pulled From Media Event; Has Not Been Cancelled

For everyone who’s been waiting for more news on NBA Live 13, including the announcement of the cover player, it appears we will have to wait a little longer as the game has been pulled from EA Sports’ media event tomorrow. While the move is disappointing and is causing some concern about the status of the game, Kotaku’s Owen Good has been told that the game has not been quietly cancelled and “at this stage” will be released on October 2nd alongside NBA 2K13, or at least before the season tips off on October 30th.

“The development team at our Tiburon studio is working hard to get the game to beta,” the statement added, “and we’ll have a hands-on experience later this summer.”

It remains to be seen when new information will be made available but once again we’ll be doing our best to bring you as much of it as possible right here on the NLSC. In the meantime, we invite you to join in the discussion in the NBA Live 13 section of our Forum, as well as leave your thoughts in the comments section below.
