Patch #5 for NBA 2K14 Next Gen Submitted for Approval

2K Sports has posted a notice on the official Facebook and Twitter pages for NBA 2K14, revealing that the fifth official patch for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the game has been submitted to Sony and Microsoft for approval. The approval process can take up to 10-14 days, so if there are no issues we can expect to see it pushed through within the next couple of weeks.

No patch notes are available at this time, as they will be released when the patch goes live. As I mentioned in my previous post, no official updates have been released for the PC, Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 versions of the game aside from the rosters, and this point, it seems highly unlikely that those platforms will be receiving any fixes.

Feel free to speculate on the contents of the fifth official patch for NBA 2K14 next gen in the comments below, as well as take the discussion to this thread in the NBA 2K14 section of the NLSC Forum.

April 29th Official Roster Update for NBA 2K14

New rosters are available for NBA 2K14 on all platforms, featuring lineups that have been updated through April 29th, 2014. As promised, Troy Daniels has been added to the Houston Rockets’ roster, however like several other missing players that have been added during the course of the season, he is not using his real face or portrait.

As always, the latest update will come through automatically as long as your PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 or Xbox One is connected to the Internet when you fire up NBA 2K14. PC users who would like to update their game manually may do so by downloading our offline pack, which contains the latest roster and online data files.

Last Call for NLSC Podcast Mailbag Submissions for Episode #76

I’m putting out a last call for any mailbag submissions for Episode #76 of the NLSC Podcast. Unfortunately a couple of us were not available to record an episode last week, but we expect to be back to our digital broadcasting duties for more fun this week. It’s been a while since we had a mailbag segment though, so we’d like to bring it back for another installment.

If you’ve got a question you’d like us to answer, a topic you’d like us to discuss, a point of view you’d like to share or a prediction you’d like us to make, be sure to let us know in the comments below or in this thread in the NLSC Hub section of the Forum. You can also hit us up on our Facebook and Twitter pages.

April 28th Official Roster Update for NBA 2K14

New official rosters are available for NBA 2K14 on all platforms, featuring lineups that have been updated through April 28th, 2014. There are still a couple of players missing in the latest roster, however a Tweet by the official NBA 2K Twitter account mentions that rookie Troy Daniels, whose three pointer won Game 3 for the Rockets in their first round series with the Trail Blazers, will be added in the next update.

As always, you can get the latest roster automatically as long as your PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 or Xbox One is connected to the Internet when you start up NBA 2K14. PC users may also pick up our offline pack, which contains the latest roster and online data files.

NLSC Top 10 Plays of the Week #8

Welcome to the eighth installment of the NLSC Top 10 Plays of the Week! This is a weekly feature in which we invite the community to submit their best highlight videos from NBA Live and NBA 2K, for a chance to have them featured in a Top 10 countdown.

Lean has continued to work through the backlog of submissions that came in during the Top 10’s brief hiatus, resulting in the latest countdown which showcases some great plays from the usual assortment of spectacular dunks and alley-oops to a lucky shot over the backboard. Watch it below or check it out here on YouTube if you can’t see the embedded video.

For your chance to be featured in future installments of the NLSC Top 10 Plays of the Week, please see this thread for more information and start posting your videos ASAP!

NBA Live 15 Wishlist Reminders

As we gear up for another weekend of basketball gaming, I just wanted to post another reminder about our Wishlist initiatives for NBA Live 15. In addition to our main Wishlist, I’ve also started a separate supplementary Wishlist thread for Dynasty Mode. If you’re a Dynasty Mode enthusiast like me, I definitely encourage you to post your ideas; I believe that I’ve covered most of the basics, but it certainly doesn’t hurt to have more than one voice talking about what they want to see in the mode.

The NBA Live Development Team at EA Tiburon are very much aware of our efforts and are keeping tabs on all of the feedback that we post, so our efforts are definitely not in vain. Having said that, a yearly development cycle isn’t going to allow for everything that we want to be added in NBA Live 15, but it’s important that we emphasise the features (and fixes) that we feel are most crucial to our enjoyment of the game. So, be sure to post your Wishlist feedback ASAP, and if you’re still in need of some encouragement, allow me to shamelessly plug one of my recent Friday Five articles in which I discussed the 5 Reasons We Compile Wishlists.

The Friday Five: Top 5 Arcade Basketball Games

Welcome to this week’s edition of The Friday Five! This is a feature that I post every Friday in which I give my thoughts on a topic that’s related to basketball video games, the real NBA or another area of interest to our community, either as a list of five items or in the form of a Top 5 countdown.

While we generally deal with sim oriented basketball video games in our community, several of us are also fans of the arcade style games. As I’ve said several times before, I’m an NBA Jam fan from way back in the day, and I still like the idea of having arcade basketball games as a change of pace from five-on-five simulation fare. Sometimes, you just feel like a quick game with somersault dunks from the rafters.

This week, I’m counting down my Top 5 arcade basketball games. It’s a slightly easier list to compile than the Top 5 simulation basketball games, as arcade basketball games tend not to have annual releases, thus there are fewer of them and it’s easier to pick out the best five from the cream of the crop. I might try to tackle the Top 5 sim titles in a future Five, but for now, here are my picks for the Top 5 arcade basketball games.

Update on NBA Live 14’s Rosters; Feedback Wanted

A couple of weeks ago, I went through NBA Live 14’s rosters and updated our checklist of missing players and incorrect jersey numbers, as of April 15th. Since then, we’ve been joined in the NLSC Forum by NBA Live associate producer Fernando, who is in charge of the rosters for NBA Live 14. Fernando has indicated that he has taken care of the discrepancies that I listed, along with a few others that he’s been keeping tabs on.

Fernando also indicated that some unfortunate technical issues have delayed the rosters by a few weeks, but as soon as those are resolved, new rosters will be coming through with all of the necessary corrections. In the meantime, we’ve been invited to give further feedback on any roster errors that we encounter, so if you come across any missing transactions, lineup errors, incorrect jersey numbers or accessories in need of an update, be sure to post about it in this thread.

Another Official Patch/Shoe Update Coming for NBA 2K14 Next Gen

As reported by Operation Sports, the latest weekly NBA 2K14 livestream hosted by Ronnie 2K and LD2K contained a mention of a fifth official patch and another shoe update for the next gen version of the game. No further details were given at the time, but more information will apparently be made available very soon.

Information and discussion of the previous updates can be found here in the NLSC Forum. The current gen version of NBA 2K14 (which includes the PC version) has not received any official updates aside from the regular roster and art updates, and at this point, it doesn’t seem likely that it will be receiving any patches.

In the meantime, what are you expecting to see in the forthcoming update for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of NBA 2K14? What are some of the issues you feel still need to be addressed before NBA 2K15? Have your say in the comments below!

Mailbag Call for This Week’s Podcast

Both Arcane and JaoSming have had to take a rain check on this week’s Podcast, which of course reduces the panel to yours truly. Hopefully, we’ll all be available to bring you a regular episode next week, but in the meantime I thought I’d invite the community to send in some mailbag questions, so that I can try my hand at a solo Q&A session.

Worst case scenario, I’ll hold onto the questions for all of us to answer in an upcoming episode. However, if there are enough questions, I’ll record a short episode and post it a little later on today. We also have a few more goodies to give away, so if I do end up recording a Q&A episode, I’ll probably have another giveaway to go along with it. Otherwise, listen out for that in a future episode.

With that said, if you’ve got some questions you’d like me to answer, topics you’d like me to give some quick thoughts on, or predictions you’d like me to embarrass myself with, let me have them! Feel free to post them in the comments below, this thread in the Forum, or send them in via our Facebook or Twitter.
