According to a Tweet by the NBA 2K Insider, the weekly official roster update for NBA 2K12 has been delayed while the team tries to solve the recent freezing issues with the PlayStation 3 version. It seems we can now expect the next roster to be available within the next few days.
The next roster update is delayed because we are trying to resolve the PS3 freeze issue. Hoping for early next week. Sorry!
For PlayStation 3 users encountering freezes, the temporary solution that is currently being suggested is to delete your Game Data Utility files for NBA 2K12. According to this Tweet from Ronnie 2K, the issue stems from corruption of the game data file caused by an external partner and the workaround has been effective for most (but not all) users.
Jhiane has released the following resource which contains accurate colours for use in creating jersey updates. It should be useful to jersey patchers for both NBA Live and NBA 2K.
Following the announcement of the starters for the East and West last week, the reserves for the 2012 NBA All-Star Game were named yesterday. East starters Derrick Rose, Dwyane Wade, LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony and Dwight Howard will be joined by Chris Bosh, Luol Deng, Roy Hibbert, Andre Iguodala, Joe Johnson, Paul Pierce and Deron Williams. Chris Paul, Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant, Blake Griffin and Andrew Bynum will start for the West, while LaMarcus Aldridge, Marc Gasol, Kevin Love, Steve Nash, Dirk Nowitzki, Tony Parker and Russell Westbrook have been picked to come off the bench.
An updated version (v1.3.5) of NBA 2K12 iOS is now available for the iPhone and iPad. The iPhone version is available for $4.99 in the iTunes store, while you can pick up the iPad version for $9.99.
NBA 2K12 iOS features Season Mode, the Jordan Challenge, Game Center support and TV-style presentation with full commentary from Kevin Harlan and Clark Kellogg. It is compatible with the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPod touch (3rd and 4th generation), and iPad, and requires iOS 4.0 or later.
Xbox Live Gold subscribers can currently pick up NBA Jam: On Fire Edition for 800 Microsoft Points in the Deal of the Week. The regular price is 1200 Microsoft Points, or $15 for PlayStation 3 users. If you’re interested in downloading the game, you may want to check out my review here, as well as our post-release producer Q&A here. NBA Jam: On Fire Edition also recently received a roster update, which I’ve previewed with a video.
On the lighter side, Shaquille O’Neal made an appearance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon back in October and squared off against host Jimmy Fallon in a game of NBA Jam: On Fire Edition, in the process losing a bet. As a result, he had to make the two-block walk to the studios wearing pink underwear. You can check out a video of “Shaq’s Walk of Shame” here.
A couple of days ago I posted a bulletin that included a video talking about EA Sports’ next NBA sim game, which will be coming out later this year. Further inquiries with EA have revealed that the information provided in the video is inaccurate, as no details about the upcoming game have been made available as yet except that the series formerly known as NBA Live will be making its return this year after a two year hiatus.
Concrete details about the game are still likely to start coming in the not too distant future however, at which point we’ll be sure to report them here on the NLSC. We’ll hopefully be able to conduct some interviews and Q&As as we’ve done in the past, as well as provide some preview media when it becomes available to us. The new dev team at EA Tiburon were very receptive to our Wishlist and Wishlist Supplements, which featured the most detailed feedback we’ve ever submitted, so hopefully we can have a positive impact on the game and the series can make a strong comeback this year. Stay tuned for more details as they’re confirmed and made available.
The twelfth official roster update for NBA 2K12 is now available. As long as your PC, Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 is connected to the Internet, the update should be downloaded automatically. The new rosters can be accessed by using the Reset Roster function under the Options menu; please note that you may have to reset the rosters a couple of times before they show up.
In addition to updated lineups, the new roster contains further changes to player ratings and accessories. As per this Tweet from the NBA 2K Insider, the following players have received significant ratings updates:
Biggest Movers included Kevin Love, Roddy Beaubois, Brandon Knight while Metta World Peace, Amar’e Stoudemire, Wes Johnson were downgraded.
For those who would like to download the latest official rosters for PC manually (including the latest Online Data updates), you may do so here in our Downloads section. Any feedback should be sent to the NBA 2K Insider here on Twitter.
