“Cool Announcement” Regarding NBA 2K12 Coming Tomorrow

Ronnie 2K has posted a Tweet teasing a “cool announcement” from the NBA 2K12 team, which will be coming tomorrow morning.

A pretty cool announcement tomorrow coming from the #NBA2K12 team. Be on the lookout in the morning

No further details have been hinted at as yet, however Ronnie has already shot down the possibility that the announcement will have anything to do with online crews. What do you think the announcement will be? Post your speculation in this thread or sound off in the comments below.

NBA 2K12 PC Patch “Days Away”

PC gamers have been waiting anxiously for the official patch for NBA 2K12, but it appears as though the wait it almost over. In response to a question about the status of the PC patch, Ronnie 2K answered that the patch is “days away”.

@TheQuietPotato The #NBA2K12 PC Patch is days away not weeks.

The PC version will be receiving a combined update that includes the online and minor gameplay issues addressed by the first couple of updates for the console versions, as well as all the fixes for the big v1.04 patch that came out in December. You can check out a list of issues addressed by the big patch, as well as some patch impressions from console users, in this thread in the NBA 2K12 section of the NLSC Forum.

Thirteenth Official NBA 2K12 Roster Update Released

The thirteenth official roster update for NBA 2K12 has now been released. The update will be downloaded automatically as long as your PC, Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 is connected to the Internet, however you will need to use the Reset Roster function under the Options menu to access the new rosters. Please note that you may have to reset the rosters a couple of times before the new update shows up.

In addition to updating team rosters with the latest transactions and rotations, the roster update also contains more changes to player ratings. One of the biggest movers in the latest roster is Jeremy Lin, whose overall rating has increased from 56 to 69 following his stellar play last week which netted him Eastern Conference Player of the Week honours. For PC users who would like to download the latest update manually, I’ve uploaded a copy of the roster and online data folder which you can get here. Remember that feedback on the official roster can be sent to the NBA 2K Insider on Twitter @NBA2KInsider.

Next NBA 2K12 Roster Coming Within 48 Hours

Following the delay of last week’s official roster update for NBA 2K12 due to ongoing freezing issues with the PlayStation 3 version of the game, Ronnie 2K has Tweeted an update on the situation revealing that we can expect the new rosters to come through within the next 48 hours.

There will be a #NBA2K12 roster update in the next 48 hours per @NBA2KInsider including a bump to JLin among other things

The need to increase Jeremy Lin’s ratings following his recent breakout has been a topic of conversation in the NLSC Forum as of late. Don’t forget to check out the NBA 2K12 section of the Forum for the latest game discussion, thoughts on the official roster updates and the latest community releases. Also remember that you can send feedback on the official rosters to the NBA 2K Insider via Twitter @NBA2KInsider.

Next Official NBA 2K12 Roster Delayed Due to PS3 Freezing Issues

According to a Tweet by the NBA 2K Insider, the weekly official roster update for NBA 2K12 has been delayed while the team tries to solve the recent freezing issues with the PlayStation 3 version. It seems we can now expect the next roster to be available within the next few days.

The next roster update is delayed because we are trying to resolve the PS3 freeze issue. Hoping for early next week. Sorry!

For PlayStation 3 users encountering freezes, the temporary solution that is currently being suggested is to delete your Game Data Utility files for NBA 2K12. According to this Tweet from Ronnie 2K, the issue stems from corruption of the game data file caused by an external partner and the workaround has been effective for most (but not all) users.

NBA Jam: On Fire Edition On Special; Shaq’s Bet

Xbox Live Gold subscribers can currently pick up NBA Jam: On Fire Edition for 800 Microsoft Points in the Deal of the Week. The regular price is 1200 Microsoft Points, or $15 for PlayStation 3 users. If you’re interested in downloading the game, you may want to check out my review here, as well as our post-release producer Q&A here. NBA Jam: On Fire Edition also recently received a roster update, which I’ve previewed with a video.

On the lighter side, Shaquille O’Neal made an appearance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon back in October and squared off against host Jimmy Fallon in a game of NBA Jam: On Fire Edition, in the process losing a bet. As a result, he had to make the two-block walk to the studios wearing pink underwear. You can check out a video of “Shaq’s Walk of Shame” here.
