NBA 2K12 Patch Out for 360; PS3 Coming Soon

2K Sports have released a title update for the Xbox 360 version of NBA 2K12, which is intended to address various online issues with the game. The patch does not contain any gameplay or game mode fixes, though it’s likely such an update will be made available at a later time. Ronnie 2K has indicated that the patch has been submitted to Sony, so PlayStation 3 users should be receiving it in the not too distant future.

Unfortunately PC users will once again have to wait for any kind of update, though Ronnie indicated on Twitter that the PC version “probably” would be receiving a combined patch at a later date. As mentioned in previous bulletins, official roster updates for all versions will have to wait until the lockout is over.

NBA cancels first two weeks of regular season

Following the latest round of talks between the NBA player’s union and the owners, the league has officially cancelled the first two weeks of the 2011/2012 regular season. Despite meeting for more than seven hours, both sides reportedly remain “very far apart on virtually all issues”, which obviously does not bode well for a speedy resolution to the lockout. Have your say on the lockout and other topics concerning real basketball in the NBA & Basketball Talk section of the NLSC Forum.

As far as the lockout’s impact on virtual basketball, the current state of negotiations would suggest that an official patch to add rookies to NBA 2K12 and the planned roster updates for NBA Jam: On Fire Edition will not be happening anytime soon. Rookie data is present in NBA 2K12’s game files so it’s possible that we’ll be able to add this year’s rookie crop to the game and utilise faces, speech and so forth through our own unofficial updates. The feasibility and exact methods of doing this are still being explored at this time.

Last call for EA Sports NBA Wishlist Materials

Within the next week, we’ll be sending in our main Wishlist materials for the next NBA sim from EA Sports. If you have any constructive feedback for the Dev Team concerning what you’d like to see improved, changed or added in the game, be sure to post it in our Wishlist thread as we’re in the process of finalising it; you can also send in additional feedback via our Wishlist Survey. If you’re a PC gamer, don’t forget to sign our PC Petition which aims to demonstrate our interest in a PC release for future NBA sims from EA Sports, beginning next year.

We’ll also be sending along our reactions to NBA 2K12, to give the Dev Team at EA Tiburon an idea of the things we like in 2K’s game as well as the things we don’t like, so that they can take that into account while developing their game. Please see this thread in the EA Sports NBA section of the NLSC Forum for more info and to post your feedback.

A huge thanks once again to everyone who has helped out with our Wishlist initiatives so far, hopefully we can have a positive impact on next year’s game!
