NBA Live 13: Why we want a PC Version

Before I move on to discussing a few odds and ends that I’m hoping to see in NBA Live 13, I’d like to take a moment to talk about something that is very important to the community: the prospect of a PC release, and why we want to see it.

There’s currently some conflicting information out there regarding a possible PC release of NBA Live 13, with a couple of sites featuring pre-order listings for one (along with a Wii U version) while others only list versions for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. I expect we’ll get official confirmation one way or another soon but before that happens I’d like to speak out one more time on the community’s desire for a PC version.

NBA Live 13: Online & Presentation Expectations

Here is the latest installment of my series of speculative articles on NBA Live 13. This time, I’m taking a look at online features and presentation in this year’s game. I don’t have too much to say on either front compared to my gameplay and game mode articles, which is why I’ve combined them into one feature.

As with the two previous articles, I’d like to remind everyone that these are my hopes and speculation for NBA Live 13; I’m not confirming any details that haven’t already been mentioned in news posts here at the NLSC. I am also trying to limit items to things that I think can feasibly be done this year, rather than discussing everything that could possibly be done in an NBA video game.

NBA Live & NBA 2K at E3 2012

Both NBA Live 13 and NBA 2K13 are set to have a presence at E3 2012, taking place in Los Angeles next week from June 5th to June 7th.

EA Sports have confirmed NBA Live 13 as one of the games they’ll be showing off at the event in their E3 Viewing Guide. While the game will not be playable to the public, a small selection of community members will have the opportunity to get their hands on NBA Live 13 and will be offering their impressions at noon on June 5th. EA will also be taking questions via Twitter following their press conference at 1 PM on June 4th, using the hashtag #ASKEASPORTS.

Meanwhile, Ronnie 2K has confirmed that NBA 2K13 will also not be playable to the public at E3, only select members of the media. However, raw gameplay footage from NBA 2K13 featuring the San Antonio Spurs and Oklahoma City Thunder will be shown on Spike TV’s GameTrailers E3 Special next Monday at 10 PM ET.

We’ll naturally be reporting all the news and details as they come out, so keep it locked here at the NLSC! Also, don’t forget to check out our NBA Live 13 and NBA 2K13 portals for an overview of all our NBA Live 13 and NBA 2K13 news and content as it comes out.

NBA Live 13 Official Website Launched

EA Sports have launched the official website for NBA Live 13 at easports.com/nba-live. The site is fairly bare at the moment with EA continuing to keep significant details about the game under wraps, but for the moment you can sign up for the insider newsletter and view the video of Ricky Rubio and Kyrie Irving paying a visit to the EA Tiburon studios (which is also available here on our YouTube channel).

You can also like NBA Live on Facebook and follow the official Twitter @EASPORTSNBA to get the latest updates. While you’re at it, don’t forget to like our page here and follow us @TheNLSC if you haven’t already. More NBA Live 13 news should be coming soon with E3 next week and we’ll be bringing you some cool stuff right here at the NLSC, so stay tuned and don’t forget to check out our new NBA Live 13 portal!

NBA Live 13: Dynasty & Game Mode Expectations

Yesterday, I looked ahead to NBA Live 13 and talked about my hopes and expectations for gameplay in this year’s game. Today, I’m taking a look at game modes such as Dynasty, Be-a-Pro/Become Legendary and more. I’ll be posting my thoughts on online features and more over the next few days, in the lead up to E3 2012.

Once again, I’d like to stress that these articles are not confirming any details about NBA Live 13, they’re purely my hopes and speculation. I’m also limiting myself to things that I think could feasibly be accomplished this year for a satisfying experience, as it’s unreasonable to expect the game to reach its full potential in all areas straight away.

NBA Live 13: Gameplay Expectations

With E3 right around the corner, I recently took a look at what we know so far about NBA Live 13. Now I’d like to move on to speculating on what we might see and discussing what I’d like to see in this year’s game, starting with gameplay. I’ll be posting my thoughts on Dynasty and other game modes, online features and more over the next few days as part of the lead up to E3.

Just so there’s no confusion before I go on, I’ll reiterate that this article is not confirming any details on NBA Live 13; rather, it is purely my hopes and speculation. Additionally, if some of the points I cover seem unambitious, it’s because I’m focusing on things I believe will make NBA Live 13 a solid, satisfying game and can also feasibly be done this year, rather than examining everything the series could possibly do to fulfill its potential.

NLSC Roundtable: All-Star Weekend in NBA 2K13

As most of you are probably now aware, NBA 2K13 will be the first basketball video game to offer the NBA All-Star Weekend as a pre-order bonus for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3, rather than a standard feature for everyone out of the box. While there has been no word yet on how users who play NBA 2K13 on other platforms or do not pre-order the game will be affected by this promotion, we can’t help but think how more of the additional teams, modes and features that basketball video game players have taken for granted over the years may be restricted to pre-order bonuses or pay-for downloadable content in the future.

The following is a roundtable reaction by JaoSming, Pdub, Qballer, Leftos and myself to the news and some thoughts on what it could mean for future games. Read on for our impressions of the big announcement.

New NBA Live, NBA 2K & NBA Jam Portals Launched

NLSC Logo - Stitching

As you may have seen over the past day or so, we’ve launched new portals for the games we cover in the NBA Live, NBA 2K and NBA Jam series. This has been done to cut down on the size of our menus and better streamline our content.

You can find the portals under the Games menu on the left hand side of the site. Every portal contains links to the content we have available for each game such as downloads, resources in the Wiki and Forum sections, as well as a small sample of the latest news posts and feature articles relating to a particular game.

We hope that you like the changes and that they will make it easier and more efficient to browse the NLSC and find the content that you’re interested in.
