Fourth Patch for NBA 2K14 Next Gen Submitted for Approval

According to Ronnie 2K, the fourth title update for NBA 2K14 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One has been submitted to Sony and Microsoft for approval. No patch notes have been released at this time, but as per Ronnie’s Tweet, it will look to address a drop to the main menu in the Xbox One version, “among other fixes”. He also indicates that we should expect the usual 10-14 day wait on approval.

Check out this thread in the NBA 2K14 section of the NLSC Forum for discussion of the official updates for NBA 2K14 next gen, as well as an archive of patch release notes.

The Friday Five: 5 Best Things in NBA 2K14

Welcome to this week’s edition of The Friday Five! This is a feature that I post every Friday in which I give my thoughts on a topic that’s related to basketball video games, the real NBA or another area of interest to our community, either as a list of five items or in the form of a Top 5 countdown.

Last week, I listed what I feel are the five best things in NBA Live 14. I’m continuing the trend of focusing on the positive in this week’s Friday Five, as I take a look at the next gen version of NBA 2K14 and some of my favourite elements of the game so far.

To be honest, I still have mixed feelings about NBA 2K14 on PlayStation 4. It’s by no means a terrible game, yet I’ve had trouble really getting into it as I don’t feel myself drawn into any of the game modes as in years past. Having said that, there’s certainly greatness in the game that stands out and deserves to be acknowledged. So, without any further ado, here are my picks for the five best things in NBA 2K14 next gen.

  • We’ve been collecting some great, constructive feedback for the NBA Live 14 development team, who are very receptive to our ideas and suggestions.
  • An update for NBA Live 14 added last Friday’s Nickname Night jerseys to the game. It was fun, but the novelty has since worn off.
  • Even though there’s work to be done, we’re still quite enjoying NBA Live 14. We provide our latest impressions of gameplay, Ultimate Team and Dynasty Mode.
  • More and more gamers seem to be warming up to NBA Live 14 and posting constructive ideas and feedback for the developers. Is the future bright for the series?
  • Moving on to NBA 2K14, we compare the cost of packs in MyTEAM to NBA Live 14’s Ultimate Team. Suffice to say, we’re being gouged.
  • Virtual Currency continues to be a problem in general, dampening our enthusiasm for the game modes in NBA 2K14 next gen.
  • Shaq Fu may be seeing a sequel. Aren’t you excited?
  • We mention some news and notes from around our modding community.
  • This week’s real NBA discussion inclues Shoelace-gate, the rise of the Nets and the Knicks, Blake Griffin’s latest poster and the league’s apologies for blown calls.
