The Friday Five: 5 Things I’m Looking Forward To In 2014

Welcome to this week’s edition of The Friday Five! The Friday Five is a feature that I post every Friday in which I give my thoughts on a topic that’s related to basketball video games, the real NBA or another area of interest to our community, either as a list of five items or in the form of a Top 5 countdown.

We’ve come to the final edition of The Friday Five for 2013, as we find ourselves a mere four days away from a brand new year. Last week, I took a look back as I picked my five favourite Friday Fives from the first year of the column. This week, I’m looking ahead to the future, listing five things that I’m looking forward to in the coming year.

2013 was certainly an interesting year for our community, with several large modding projects, the launch of a new generation of consoles, the return of NBA Live after four years on the sideline and a very memorable NBA Finals series between the Miami Heat and San Antonio Spurs. Having said that, I believe that 2014 will have its fair share of interesting events, great games, highlights and moments from the NBA and of course, fun times with basketball video games. So, without any further ado and in no particular order, here are 5 Things I’m Looking Forward To In 2014.

December 24th Official Roster Update for NBA 2K14

It may be the holidays, but NBA 2K14 has received yet another official roster update on all platforms, with lineups accurate as of December 24th, 2013. Once again, it doesn’t appear to be a major update as several players are still missing, but Brook Lopez’s injury has been accounted for in the new roster.

The latest roster update will come through automatically as long as your PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 or Xbox One is connected to the Internet. As usual, I’ve updated our offline pack with the latest roster and online data files, for PC users who wish to update their game manually.

December 23rd Official Roster Update for NBA 2K14

An official roster update for December 23rd, 2013 has come through for NBA 2K14, on all platforms. At a glance, it’s not clear what’s been changed from yesterday’s update, as Brook Lopez is still uninjured in the latest roster despite being ruled out for the season with a broken foot and no missing players have been added.

Nevertheless, the latest roster will come through automatically as long as your PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 or Xbox One is connected to the Internet. I’ve also added the latest roster and online data files to our offline pack, for PC users who wish to update their game manually.

Patch #3 Out for NBA 2K14 on Xbox One; PS4 Patch Coming Soon

The third official patch has been released for the Xbox One version of NBA 2K14, containing various fixes for gameplay, game modes and general issues regarding crashes and stability. We have received a complete laundry list of patch notes this time around, which you can check out below or here over on the 2K Blog.

Unfortunately, it appears as though some users are still encountering issues with their MyPLAYERS following the patch. Ronnie 2K has acknowledged the problem and invites anyone being affected by it to get in touch with 2K.

The patch should be available for the PlayStation 4 version of NBA 2K14 soon, as it’s currently awaiting approval from Sony. Feel free to add your thoughts on the latest patch in the comments below, as well as in this thread in the NBA 2K14 section of the Forum.
