NBA 2K15 Screenshots, Clip of Ricky Rubio

A couple of new screenshots have been added to the Steam listing for NBA 2K15, featuring James Harden and John Wall. You can check them both out below, as well as over in our NBA 2K15 Screenshots gallery.

2K Spain has also posted a PlayStation 4 promo spot for NBA 2K15, featuring some in-game clips of Ricky Rubio going up against Stephen Curry and James Harden. Watch it below, or catch it here on YouTube if you can’t see the embedded video. Rubio is set to appear on the Spanish cover of NBA 2K15, although as other sites have pointed out, the photo they’ve used makes him look a little glum about the whole arrangement.

NBA 2K15 Cheerleader Mo-Cap Clip

Another quick preview of NBA 2K15 has been posted on 2K’s official Instagram account. The latest clip spotlights the cheerleaders in this year’s game, revealing that actual NBA cheerleaders were brought in to motion capture their dance routines. Needless to say, it’s obvious that the team at Visual Concepts is intent on adding authenticity down to the last detail.

These bite-size previews generally lead up to more substantial insights into gameplay and modes, so I expect that we’ll be seeing a producer blog or two in the near future. In the meantime, you can check out the clip below, or here over on 2K’s Instagram account if it’s not showing up for you.

NBA 2K15 Yakkem Trailer

The first official trailer for NBA 2K15 has been revealed! Billed as a sequel to last year’s “OMG Trailer”, the “Yakkem Trailer” – given it’s name by Shaquille O’Neal – features a dazzling array of highlights as it spotlights cover player Kevin Durant, former cover players LeBron James and Derrick Rose, and several other NBA stars including Stephen Curry and Andre Iguodala.

A virtual Shaq also appears alongside Ernie Johnson in the studio of their in-game halftime show, showing off the set as well as the work that’s gone into lip-sync. A few Forum members have pointed out some inconsistencies with the courts, while Andrew Wiggins notably appears on the Cleveland Cavaliers’ roster, indicating that the trailer has been in the can for a while and is probably based off an older build.

Check out the Yakkem Trailer below, or catch it here on YouTube if you can’t see the embedded video. Your thoughts? Sound off in the comments below, as well as in this thread in the NBA 2K15 section of the Forum!

Da_Czar joins the NBA 2K Dev Team

In case you missed the announcement, it’s been revealed that community member and longtime host of SimNation Radio Da_Czar has joined the NBA 2K Development Team at Visual Concepts!

Czar certainly knows his hoops and is very passionate about basketball gaming, so this should mean great things for NBA 2K15 and beyond. For those who are unaware, we’ve actually had Czar on the NLSC Podcast a couple of times, once for an interview, and again for a special episode in which we had an in-depth discussion on simulation basketball. If you’ve listened to those shows or to SimNation Radio, or if you’ve seen his playcalling tutorial videos, I’m sure you’ll agree that he’s the right man for the job.

Congrats again, Czar! I know you’ll make us all proud.

NBA 2K15 PC Now Available to Pre-Order on Steam

The PC version of NBA 2K15 – which if you don’t know by now, is confirmed to be the same as the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One version of the game – is now available to pre-order on Steam. Steam keys are also available through sites such as Green Man Gaming, which frequently offers discount vouchers. The GMG listing also appears to have revealed a couple of new screenshots.

For what it’s worth, NBA 2K15 on PC includes the same pre-order bonuses as the console versions: 5000 VC, a Kevin Durant Throwback MyTEAM Card, two additional MyTEAM Card Packs, and custom MyPLAYER leg sleeves, inspired by cover player Kevin Durant.

Unfortunately, the system requirements are still unknown, but we’ll be sure to post that information as soon as it becomes available. In the meantime, feel free to leave your thoughts in the comments below, and join in all the speculation and discussion in the NBA 2K15 section of the Forum.

NLSC Podcast – Episode #91

NLSC Podcast Logo

We’re back to our regular show this week, with Episode #91 of the NLSC Podcast! JaoSming and I catch up on all the latest NBA Live 15 and NBA 2K15 news, and chat about a few other topics.

  • We reflect on last week’s interview with NBA Live 15 Executive Producer Sean O’Brien, recapping some of the highlights.
  • New NBA Live 15 screenshots are being released, showing off the arenas. They’re nice, but we’re holding out for more player close-ups and gameplay footage.
  • It happened! NBA 2K15 PC will be a port of the PlayStation 4/Xbox One version! So…what does that mean for us?
  • Speaking of NBA 2K15, MyLEAGUE sounds awesome, even if a few cynical people don’t think so. A rant ensues.
  • JaoSming provides us with this week’s update on the latest modding developments.
  • In NBA news, Kevin Love is headed to Cleveland, as is Shawn Marion. Apart from that, we’re at a very slow point of the offseason, but we find a couple of other interesting topics to chat about.
  • We close this week’s show with a great quote from Swaggy P.

NBA 2K15 May Feature Inside the NBA Crew

According to SLAM Magazine, Ernie Johnson appears to have confirmed that the Inside the NBA studio will be featured in NBA 2K15, which would naturally suggest that Ernie himself will be appearing in the game with at least one of his co-hosts. Shaquille O’Neal’s visit to Visual Concepts earlier this year would seemingly suggest that he’ll be the one to join Ernie in the virtual studio.

No further details are available at this time, but no doubt 2K will be revealing more information soon. In the meantime, what do you think we’ll see of Inside the NBA in NBA 2K15? Sound off in the comments below, and join in the discussion here in the NBA 2K15 section of the Forum.

UPDATE: Steve from Operation Sports has confirmed that Ernie and Shaq will be in the game, but it won’t feature Inside the NBA itself.

Dumb Monday: Get Informed and Be Patient, Please

This is Dumb Mondays, starting the workweek off with silly facts or some of my opinions and predictions that you may or may not find interesting. This week I am sharing a dumb pet peeve of mine and will be looking for and responding to your comments throughout the week.

I said it before and I will say it many more times before and after October 7th, it, has, happened! A fully featured PlayStation 4/Xbox One port of NBA 2K15 will be released on PC. Typing that still feels like a lie or some kind of sick rib on the PC community, based entirely on our speculative reasons behind the preceding PC ports. So rather than reflecting on the past to decipher the meaning behind 2K’s decision, I just want to plead with all PC NBA 2K players to keep that same patience I have been preaching all along when it comes to upgrading your computer for NBA 2K15.

NBA 2K15 News Roundup

Although the biggest NBA 2K15 related news in the past 24 hours as far as our community is concerned is the reveal that the PC version will be a fully featured port of the PlayStation 4/Xbox One release, there are some other developments that I’d like to quickly recap.

For those who missed it, NBA 2K15’s soundtrack – curated by Pharrell – has been revealed, and is available to listen to on Spotify. You can also check out the complete track list below.

We also have our first screenshot of the PC version, featuring cover player Kevin Durant! You can check that out below, as well as in our NBA 2K15 Screenshots gallery.

Finally, a handful of off-screen gameplay videos have come out of Gamescom 2014, which I’ve embedded below as well. Be sure to join in all of the latest discussion in the NBA 2K15 section of the NLSC Forum!

Dumb Monday: MyDREAM

This is Dumb Mondays, starting the workweek off with silly facts or some of my opinions and predictions that you may or may not find interesting. This week I am sharing a dumb opinion of mine and will be looking for and responding to your comments throughout the week.

In case you missed it, MyLEAGUE for the next gen versions of NBA 2K15 was detailed this week. I think Steve over at OperationSports summed it up best by calling it Association “on steroids”. Essentially MyLEAGUE is an NBA sandbox. We can customize many aspects to our liking with no VC to spend or objectives to meet other than our own. On top of the customization features we, for the first time, get to change core AI aspects of mode with trades and other logic. And on top of that we get new features like the detailed “injuries 2.0” and gameplans, which will also affect MyGM. But at its core there is that customization. That customization is why I may as well call this mode MyDREAM.

NBA 2K15’s MyLEAGUE Detailed

Franchise modes are the only modes I generally play that aren’t exhibition modes. Seeing the details listed in OperationSports‘ reveal of NBA 2K15’s next-gen league sandbox mode made my mouth drop. We got the return of missing features from NBA 2K14 like create-a-player and local saves, along with brand new sliders and customization options to either help the authenticity of your MyLEAGUE or turn it into a mad house. Difficulty options galore from trades to salary caps to various A.I. settings that aren’t even modable on PC.

The biggest addition has to be the “Injuries 2.0” system, splitting players into 16 parts that can be independently fatigued, injured, and recovered from. Detailed to the point where a slightly injured or worn out player may wear accessories to help an injured body part. Even rookies can have these injuries, and have them scoutable, making the risks of Embiid and Noel something to consider in NBA 2K15.

Best of all, some of these features will transfer to the completely separate MyGM mode. Worst of all, OS stated this is only for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of NBA 2K15. At least there are no VC purchases to be made in this mode. Check out the full details by checking the article on OS. Discuss in the Forums or in the comments below.
