Second Patch Released for NBA 2K15 PC

As you may have noticed, a second patch has been pushed through for the PC version of NBA 2K15. It should start downloading automatically, but if all else fails, restart your Steam client. Leftos has posted some details on the patch here in the Forum, confirming that this is a PC-only update that is intended to address some issues that are specific to the PC version, such as crashes, stuttering, and glitched hair textures.

Another large patch will be coming through at some point, which will also be available for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions of NBA 2K15. There’s no ETA on that update at this time, but we’ll keep you informed as soon as Leftos can pass along some more information. A huge thanks to Leftos once again for all his help in troubleshooting problems, and helping get PC users these fixes!

Since it’s come up a few times in the past week or so, I’d also like to remind everyone that we have a strict rule against piracy in the NLSC Forum. Any requests for cracked copies of NBA 2K15, or patches for a “non-Steam” version of the game will result in a permanent ban without warning. If you need to familiarise yourself with our Forum Rules, you can find them posted here. Please contact us if you have any additional questions about our rules and policies.

NBA 2K15 PC Patch Released

An official patch is now available for the PC version of NBA 2K15. To get it, make sure that you restart your Steam client! A full list of patch notes isn’t available at this time, but the patch is intended to address problems with performance and stability, as well as some other PC specific issues.

Leftos has provided us with the following information in this thread:

  • Under “%appdata%\2K Sports\NBA 2K15\” you’ll find a file called VideoSettingsHelp.txt, containing instructions on how to mess around with the VideoSettings.cfg file if you’re feeling adventurous. A set of new tweaking options was added to the file, and all settings, new and old, have descriptions in the help file along with the values and what each one does, as well as helpful recommendations based on your system.
  • Small correction to VideoSettingsHelp.txt (thanks jay-r): The explanation for the EFFECTLOD setting is reversed. 0 is ON, 1 is OFF.
  • If the game crashes, you should now see a CrashReport.txt file under the same folder. Posting it as an attachment in a reply should help us track down the issue.

Be sure to post any feedback in the aforementioned thread, as well as in the comments section below. We’ll do our best to provide a full list of patch notes as soon as it’s made available. The patches for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of NBA 2K15 are also expected to be pushed through soon, as they have been submitted to Sony and Microsoft for approval.

NBA 2K15 Subforums, Downloads Sections Launched

Please be advised that we have now launched the Help & Requests, Releases & Previews, Tutorials, and FAQs subforums to the NBA 2K15 section of the NLSC Forum. We’ve also added the appropriate NBA 2K15 Downloads sections to our database, ready to accept uploads from the community.

At this time, our community is still figuring out how to work with NBA 2K15 PC’s files, which are very different now that the game is a port of the PlayStation 4/Xbox One version. Nevertheless, everything is in place for when modding finally gets underway.

Please also note that the forums for NBA 2K14 and NBA Live 14 have now been moved to the Previous Games section on the Forum index.

The Friday Five: 5 Early Impressions of NBA 2K15

The Friday Five

Welcome to this week’s edition of The Friday Five! This is a feature that I post every Friday in which I give my thoughts on a topic that’s related to basketball video games, the real NBA or another area of interest to our community, either as a list of five items or in the form of a Top 5 countdown.

So, I finally have my hands on NBA 2K15, albeit a little later than expected. My copy for PlayStation 4 is still in the mail, and the PC version didn’t unlock until earlier today, which was a day later than originally advertised for Aussie gamers. Nevertheless, I do have it now, and I was able to spend some time playing it today. As such, I thought that I’d offer up some of my early impressions.

As I mentioned in last week’s Friday Five, I had a “To Do” list in mind for when NBA 2K15 arrived. I’ve more or less ticked off everything on that list, though I’ll naturally be diving deeper into each of those areas in the coming days and weeks. For now though, here are my thoughts on NBA 2K15, after the first few hours of playing the game.

NBA 2K15 Out Today, Update on Modding

If you’re in North America, then the wait is over! NBA 2K15 is now on store shelves, and digital pre-orders have been unlocked on all platforms. If you already have the game, feel free to post your impressions in the comments below, as well as join in all the discussion that’s taking place in the NBA 2K15 section of the Forum!

We can confirm that the file formats are very different for the PC version of NBA 2K15, so as of now, most of our existing tools unfortunately won’t be of any use. Since our talented community is still figuring out how everything works and what we’ll be able to do, it might be a little while before modding really gets started for this year’s game. Having said that, we’ll be preparing the usual Forum subsections and upload facilities in due course, and keeping everyone informed of any modding developments.

NBA 2K15 Pre-Release Notes, New Trailer

NBA 2K15 will be available in a matter of hours, but there are a few pre-release news and notes to cover before we get our hands on the game:

  • A couple of articles have been posted over on the 2K Support website, providing details on the pre-order packs and how to redeem them in-game. In a nutshell, digital pre-orders will provide users with a Locker Code to obtain their pre-order bonuses, which will be available once the game is unlocked.
  • NBA 2K15 PC can currently be pre-loaded on Steam, and according to Ronnie 2K, it will be unlocked in North America at 9 PM PST/12 AM EST. If you live elsewhere in the world, you’ll have to wait a couple more days for the unlock.
  • Some tips on how to properly scan your face for use in MyCAREER have been posted here over on the official PlayStation blog. The feature is also available in the Xbox One version of the game.
  • A humorous new trailer featuring Shaquille O’Neal and Ernie Johnson has been released, which you can watch below, or here on YouTube if you can’t see the embedded video.

Once you get your hands on the game, be sure to share your impressions with the rest of the community in the NBA 2K15 section of the Forum. A fun year of basketball gaming awaits us!

Evolution of Freelance Offense in NBA 2K15 (Part 3)

Da_Czar is back with part three of his breakdown of the evolution of freelance offense in NBA 2K15.  This video highlights the Triangle Offense, while making comparisons to the implementation of the triangle in NBA 2K12 and breaking down options integrated into the offense.

The video shows off the Knicks who are presumed to be running the triangle offense this year, and a few options on offense that can trigger your teammates movement.  It also shows you the classic Bulls squad with none other than Michael Jordan and the variety of ways the triangle can be used.

Da_Czar also reveals the 7 freelance offense types in 2K15.  Here they are in no particular order-

  • 3 out 2 in
  • 4 out 1 in
  • 80’s freelance for 80’s teams
  • 2-3 zone freelance
  • Spurs swing motion
  • Heats pace and space
  • Triangle offense

Watch the demonstration below, or check it out here on YouTube if you can’t see the embedded video. Have your say in the comments below, as well as in this thread in the NBA 2K15 section of the Forum.

The Friday Five: My To Do List for NBA 2K15

The Friday Five

Welcome to this week’s edition of The Friday Five! This is a feature that I post every Friday in which I give my thoughts on a topic that’s related to basketball video games, the real NBA or another area of interest to our community, either as a list of five items or in the form of a Top 5 countdown.

In just a few days, we’ll finally be able to get our hands on NBA 2K15. Well, those of us outside of North America will actually have to wait an extra couple of days, but in any event, the game is almost here! I don’t think I’m going out on a limb when I say that most people are really looking forward to this year’s release, and are very eager to try out all of the great things that we’ve seen, heard, and read about. From gameplay to game modes, you can be sure that we’ll be scrutinising – and hopefully, enjoying – everything on offer in NBA 2K15.

But, where to begin? I personally have a bit of a routine and a few points of interest that I plan on checking out as soon as I get my hands on the game, which I thought I’d talk a little about in this week’s Friday Five. So, without any further ado, here’s my NBA 2K15 To Do list!
