Details on Coaching in NBA 2K15’s MyCAREER

Chris Smoove has posted his second update on MyCAREER in NBA 2K15, in which he shows us a coaching cutscene and talks about coach satisfaction in this year’s game. At various points in MyCAREER this year, be it before the game or during halftime, cutscenes will feature coaches talking strategy with the team and identifying the different points of emphasis. Your ability to follow instructions and play well will have an impact on the coach’s satisfaction with your player; if the coach’s satisfaction drops below a certain level, you can even end up being traded.

Smoove will have more information on MyCAREER in NBA 2K15 very soon. In the meantime, check out his Coaching 101 feature below, or here on YouTube if you can’t see the embedded video. Additionally, Pharrell – curator of the game’s soundtrack – has posted a video on Instagram, revealing that your player will meet him on the bench during a cutscene.

As always, feel free to have your say in the comments below, as well as here in the NBA 2K15 section of the Forum.

Details on MyCAREER in NBA 2K15

Chris Smoove has provided us with our first glimpse of MyCAREER in NBA 2K15, including the full opening cutscene. It confirms that this year’s mode will see your MyPLAYER go undrafted, resulting in a tougher road to the NBA as you attempt to land 10 day contracts and latch on with a team. As such, this year’s MyCAREER will do away with the Rookie Showcase, along with Jackson Ellis.

A new voice has also been added, and gamers will be able to choose between the new voice and the one used in NBA 2K14. Smoove has more information coming out later in the week, but for now, be sure to check out his preview below, or catch it here on YouTube if you can’t see the embedded video.

Details on Badges in NBA 2K15 (Operation Sports)

Operation Sports has posted a complete list of the Badges that will be utilised in NBA 2K15. This year, Personality Badges and Signature Skills have been combined into a single Badge list, which will give players a unique identity in terms of their personality and skills. Specifically, a player’s Badges affect how he reacts to various emotional situations on the court, and how he performs in certain scenarios.

There are 77 Badges overall: 28 Personality Badges and 49 Skill Badges. Personality Badges have just one tier, and affect a player’s facial expressions, hot/cold streaks, and ambient animations. Skill Badges have three tiers – gold, silver, and bronze – and are categorised as Outside Scoring, Inside Scoring, Athleticism, Playmaking, Rebounding and Defense Badges. Players can have up to 70 Badges, of varying tiers; LeBron has the most Badges of any active player, with 47. Players cannot have all 77 Badges, as some conflict with one another (eg an “Alpha Dog” cannot also be a “Beta Dog”).

Badges can also be earned by your MyPLAYER based on how you play, as well as how you respond to the different scenarios in MyCAREER. Once they’ve been earned. Skill Badges can then be upgraded using Virtual Currency.

See below for more information on the Badges in NBA 2K15; once again, full credit goes to Operation Sports for the original post. What’s your take? Sound off in the comments below, and join in the discussion here in the NBA 2K15 section of the Forum.

JaoSming Joins Visual Concepts

So, I’m allowed to talk about this now? The cat’s out of the bag?

It is indeed, and congratulations are in order for our own JaoSming (or Jon, as you may know him), who has accepted a position with Visual Concepts/2K Sports! Jon will be working on the aforementioned 2KTV show in NBA 2K15 and beyond, where his passion for the games and knowledge of the community will no doubt help the show deliver great content to us every week.

Although we’re sorry to see Jon go, we’re all immensely proud of him and know that he’ll represent us superbly. Jon has done some amazing work for the NLSC during his tenure here, from creating patches and resources to co-hosting the Podcast and moderating the Forum, and so much in between. On a personal note, it’s been a pleasure having Jon on the team; I’ll always appreciate the help he’s given me in running the NLSC, it’s been a blast co-hosting the Podcast with him, and I’m very happy to see him land such a dream job, where he’ll be working with our good friend Leftos.

As for us…don’t worry, we’re not going anywhere. I’m sure that others will step up to lead the charge in developing resources for the community, and we’ll of course still be doing the Podcast every week; we have some good stuff lined up for that. As for the feature articles that Jon established, I’ll probably be writing a few guest editions myself from time to time, and we’ll see what happens long-term.

In the meantime though, please join me in congratulating Jon once again. What else can I say: Your Time Has Come!

Scan Your Face in NBA 2K15 (PS4/X1)

2K Sports has revealed that NBA 2K15 will include a brand new new face scanning feature, which will allow gamers to put their face into the game. Within about 30 seconds, you can accurately scan your face into NBA 2K15 using the PlayStation camera or the Kinect, and put it to use in MyCAREER and MyGM. Deep customisation options also allow you to further sculpt your face once it’s been scanned.

The feature is only available for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of NBA 2K15. You can watch a trailer with Ronnie 2K demonstrating the face scanning tech below, or check it out here on YouTube if you can’t see the embedded video. You can also check out a more humourous take on face scanning in this skit featuring James Harden.
