NBA 2K20 Patch 1.06 Addresses Issues in Neighborhood

NBA 2K20 Patch 1.06

Patch 1.06 has come through for NBA 2K20. The patch is currently available for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the game, and should hopefully be out on PC soon. As always, the update should download automatically as long as you have an active Internet connection. If you do encounter any difficulties, try restarting your console (or Steam client once the PC patch has been released).

The patch primarily addresses technical issues with The Neighborhood in MyCAREER, along with some other online glitches. The official patch notes are as follows:

  • Fixes incorrect MyPLAYERs loading when joining friends in The Neighborhood
  • Fixes users getting disconnected during timeouts in some online game modes
  • Fixes hanging when dismissing the phone in The Neighborhood
  • Many more fixes

Among the “many more fixes” are resolutions to blue screen errors on PS4, loading into MyCAREER with the wrong build, and other random crashes. Information on NBA 2K20 Patch 1.06 has been added to the game’s update history here in our Wiki. Feel free to share your impressions of the latest update in the comments section below, as well as join in the discussion here in the NLSC Forum. I’ll update this bulletin when PC patch is out.

UPDATE: As of October 16th, the PC patch is now available.

Monday Tip-Off: The In-Universe Value of VC (NBA 2K20 Edition)

Monday Tip-Off: The In-Universe Value of VC (NBA 2K20 Edition)

We’re at midcourt, and the ball is about to go up…it’s Monday Tip-Off! Start your week here at the NLSC with a feature that’s dedicated to opinions, commentary, and other fun stuff related to NBA Live, NBA 2K, and other basketball video games. This week, I’m tipping things off with a look at the in-universe value of VC in NBA 2K20’s MyCAREER, and some of the issues that it underscores.

Even though I’ve decided to move away from MyCAREER this year – a decision that I feel even more comfortable with having played a few games – my long tenure with the mode means that I still have some residual interest in what goes on with it. At the very least, I want MyCAREER, its connected modes, and The Neighborhood, all to be as good as they can be for the people who are interested in them. To that end, VC is still one of the most troubling issues: how much you earn, the prices of upgrades and cosmetic items, and the discrepancy between in-universe and real world value of VC.

The last couple of years, I’ve calculated the in-universe value of Virtual Currency in NBA 2K18 and NBA 2K19‘s Neighborhoods. Last year’s “exchange rate” was simply ridiculous, as 1 VC was equivalent to at least $105 in-universe, based on a salary of 500 VC representing a dollar amount of $4.29 million per year (and thus $52,317 per game). The exchange rate wasn’t consistent, as 1000 VC equated to an annual salary of $25.23 million ($307,682 per game), placing the value of 1 VC at around $308 in-universe. Needless to say, this made the in-universe price tags on clothing items truly insane. What’s the situation like this year? Let’s take a look and find out.

NBA 2K20 Patch 1.05 Addresses Gameplay, Technical Issues

NBA 2K20 Patch 1.05

Patch 1.05 is now available for NBA 2K20. It will come through automatically for the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One versions, as long as you have an active Internet connection. If you run into any issues, try restarting your console or Steam client, or checking for the update manually.

It’s a considerable update, weighing in at 626.8 MB on PC, 20.6 GB on PS4, and 35.8 GB on XB1. Unfortunately the patch notes aren’t very detailed, filing most of the changes under the heading of “Many, many more fixes included to improve the overall experience of NBA 2K20”. However, Mike Wang has provided some additional insights on Twitter regarding changes to the gameplay. In addition to addressing disconnection issues, Patch 1.05 for NBA 2K20 adjusts “full white” releases, buffs the Pick Dodger Badge, fixes baseline dunks that weren’t triggering properly, and widens the speed gap.

You can check out the official patch notes below, along with Beluba’s Tweets. I’ve also added that information to the update history for NBA 2K20 over in our Wiki. Feel free to share your thoughts on the update in the comments below, as well as join in the discussion here in the Forum.

Monday Tip-Off: The Problem with MyREP

Monday Tip-Off: The Problem with MyREP

We’re at midcourt, and the ball is about to go up…it’s Monday Tip-Off! Start your week here at the NLSC with a feature that’s dedicated to opinions, commentary, and other fun stuff related to NBA Live, NBA 2K, and other basketball video games. This week, I’m tipping things off with a look at MyREP in NBA 2K20, and how it’s a symptom of a bigger problem.

I have to say that it’s been refreshing to shift my focus away from MyCAREER in NBA 2K20. I’ve been enjoying MyTEAM, and once we get closer to the start of the season and receive updated rosters, I’m ready to get stuck into MyLEAGUE as well. With that being said, I have spent a little time in MyCAREER so far. In the interest of providing a comprehensive review, as well as satisfying my own interest, I wanted to check it out. If nothing else, it’s a means of farming some extra VC which I can then spend on MyTEAM packs, rather than shell out real money on loot box mechanics.

A noteworthy change in MyCAREER this year is the revamping of the rewards. The Road to 99 has more or less been done away with, replaced by the concept of MyREP. Instead of increasing your Overall Rating to unlock new content and bonuses, it’s all about increasing your rep through Playground and Pro-Am games. While the idea has merit, and I had my own complaints about the Road to 99, I’m not sure that this is the right direction for MyCAREER. Indeed, it’s thrust a few problematic design choices into focus, and unless some adjustments can be made in a patch, it’ll be a misstep for MyCAREER and the new MyREP system.

NBA 2K20 Patch 1.04 Addresses Hang in The Neighborhood

NBA 2K20 Patch 1.04

Patch 1.04 has come through for NBA 2K20 on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. It should download automatically but if you encounter any issues, try restarting your Steam client or console, or checking for the update manually.

The latest patch is very small compared to the previous update, and fixes an issue with the game hanging in The Neighborhood after viewing the Animation Store. There are no further patch notes, so it doesn’t appear that there are any other fixes of note in the update.

You can find a complete update history for NBA 2K20 here in our Wiki. Feel free to add your thoughts on Patch 1.04 for NBA 2K20 in the comments section below, as well as join in the discussion here in the NLSC Forum.
