Olympic Basketball Legacy V8 for NBA 2K20

Olympic Basketball Legacy V8 for NBA 2K20

A new version of the Olympic Basketball Legacy mod for NBA 2K20 by RayRay_953 and company is now available! As the name would imply, the project celebrates the basketball tournament at the Olympic Games, as well as other international clashes on the hardwood.

V8 of the Olympic Basketball Legacy mod includes some exciting additions. Every single team that competed in the McDonald’s Open/McDonald’s Championship has been added, representing a number of league champions from around the world. Teams that took part in the NBA Europe Live Tour are also featured in the new release, complete with some jerseys that were originally only seen in NBA Live 07. Other international exhibitions are also accounted for, including NCAA squads taking on national teams, and the NBL’s Adelaide 36ers squaring off against the Phoenix Suns in 2022.

Pick up Olympic Basketball Legacy V8 here in the Forum! The mod is now an all-in-one download, and the necessary sync.bin file is also available if you’re having trouble getting it to work with your game. For more information on installing the mod, check out this video tutorial. Shout out to RayRay_953 and company once again for another fantastic release, and for making it freely available to one and all! If you’re still playing NBA 2K20, you may also want to check out Thunder Shaq’s Ultimate Retro Roster, which now includes a 2026 season update.

NBA 2K20 2026 Rosters by Thunder Shaq

NBA 2K20 2026 Rosters by Thunder Shaq

Much as PatTheHead has been doing for NBA 2K13, Thunder Shaq has been keeping NBA 2K20 up to date while also celebrating NBA history. To that end, the latest version of his Ultimate Retro Roster for NBA 2K20 features 2026 season rosters, and other enhancements throughout the retro season mods.

The 2026 rosters are accurate as of October 31st 2025. Class of 2025 rookies are included with core players all having faces, and the branding for the Orlando Magic and Utah Jazz has been updated. At this time, many of the two-way players aren’t included unless they were already in the roster, and contracts are not accurate. To that end, Thunder Shaq has advised that the roster in its current state is mostly intended for Play Now and Season mode.

In addition to bringing 2026 season rosters to NBA 2K26, the latest update to the Ultimate Retro Roster includes an enhanced version of the 2025 season mod, several updates to the 2019 roster, and new faces, jerseys, and courts. The full release notes can be found here.

You can find all of the download links for the Ultimate Retro Roster here in the Forum! If you’ve already downloaded the previous release and just need the current season rosters, just download Update Pack 3 here. Shout out to Thunder Shaq and all of the other contributors to the Ultimate Retro Roster for bringing 2026 season rosters to NBA 2K20, along with a host of retro season mods!

In addition to new mod releases, we’re always looking to track down and preserve older mods and modding tools alike. To that end, Looyh’s fantastic NBA 2K20 Tools has been re-uploaded to our Downloads database for safekeeping. If you need it, you can find it at the link below!

NBA 2K Modding Tools Re-Uploaded & Mirrored

NBA 2K Modding Tools Re-Uploaded & Mirrored

Unfortunately, as the years have gone by, we’ve not only lost mods for NBA Live and NBA 2K, but also a handful of modding tools. Whenever we can recover those lost files and resources, we’ll do our best to preserve them so that they’re readily available for anyone who wants to go back to play and create mods for old favourites.

To that end, a recent post in the Forum asking about Looyh’s Hook for NBA 2K22 prompted me to dig into my archives to see if I could mirror it. Not only did I find it, but I also discovered a couple of other modding tools for various NBA 2K games that I was able to add to our Downloads section.

These include Looyh’s Hooks for NBA 2K20 and NBA 2K21, along with some of his other tools. V0.96 of gregkwaste’s NBA 2K17 3D Importer/Exporter has proven difficult to track down, but I did find V0.95 in my archives, so in the meantime we can at least preserve that release. Similarly, I was only able to find V1.1 of Looyh’s File Export Console utility for NBA 2K21, but if V1.2 can be tracked down, I’ll upload it accordingly.

A very overdue addition is FlyingFinn’s roster editor for NBA 2K9 PC! That tool has been available as an attachment in the original Forum topic since 2009, but as it’s in a reply to the original post, it’s obviously very easy to overlook. As such, it’s now also in the Downloads section for safekeeping and easy access.

You can find links to all of the NBA 2K modding tools that I’ve re-uploaded and mirrored below; all credit to the original authors, of course! As always, if you have anything in your archives and backups that the community could benefit from – be they mods, utilities, or other resources – please feel free to add them to our Downloads section! Just be sure to credit the original authors, and also ensure that they haven’t stated that they don’t want their work to be posted or mirrored anywhere else.

Wayback Wednesday: When The Lights Are Brightest in NBA 2K20

Wayback Wednesday: When The Lights Are Brightest in NBA 2K20

This is Wayback Wednesday, your midweek blast from the past! From retrospectives of basketball games and their interesting features, to republished articles and looking at NBA history through the lens of the virtual hardwood, Wednesdays at the NLSC are for going back in time. This week, I’m taking a look back at the MyCAREER story in NBA 2K20, titled “When The Lights Are Brightest”.

Following NBA 2K18’s ridiculous MyCAREER tale starring a prospect who quit basketball to be a DJ, finally makes it to the NBA following a streetball tournament, and is flanked by his annoying best friend/roommate B-Fresh, NBA 2K19 featured a much better written story. “The Way Back” not only boasted impressive production values from a cinematic standpoint, but also attempted to spice up the journey with mini-games and other interactive elements. It wasn’t perfect, but it stood out as one of the better MyCAREER stories, and a tough act to follow.

To that end, Visual Concepts collaborated with Maverick Carter and LeBron James on the story for NBA 2K20’s MyCAREER, “When The Lights Are Brightest”. Indeed, Carter, LeBron, and their production company, Springhill Entertainment, are credited on the cover as executive producers for MyCAREER. The story has been shelved for good following the shutdown of the NBA 2K20 servers, since MyCAREER is no longer playable. With that being said, what was the story, was it any good, and are we missing out since we’re now unable to revisit it? Let’s take a look back…way back…

Monday Tip-Off: Vale, NBA 2K20 Servers & Content

Monday Tip-Off: Vale, NBA 2K20 Servers & Content

We’re at midcourt, and the ball is about to go up…it’s Monday Tip-Off! Start your week here at the NLSC with a feature that’s dedicated to opinions, commentary, and other fun stuff related to NBA Live, NBA 2K, and other basketball video games. This week, I’m tipping things off with some thoughts on the NBA 2K20 servers being shut down, and the bigger picture of losing content and modes along with online support.

On December 31st, the NBA 2K20 servers were shut down as scheduled. Of course, this isn’t anything new for the series. 2K originally guaranteed 18 months of online support for all of its titles, before extending that period to 27 months following the deactivation and reactivation of NBA 2K14’s servers. These Terms of Service aren’t hidden – beyond the fact that many of us never read the EULA in full, of course – and if you’ve been playing the NBA 2K series for some time, you’re familiar with the drill. As unfortunate as it is, it’s understandable given the way that the userbase moves on.

The problem is that over the years, bigger chunks of the game are disappearing when online support ends. It used to be that we’d lose the ability to set up online games, use the in-game file sharing functionality, and receive any official roster updates. It was still a blow, but the games were largely intact. Now that there’s a larger focus on the connected experience and live service content, server shutdowns are making major modes inaccessible. Even primarily offline moves can be affected, if your save file utilised any online content when it was created. MyCAREER is the big one though, and the shutdown of the NBA 2K20 servers has exposed a troubling approach.

NBA 2K20 Servers Shutting Down December 31st

NBA 2K20 Servers Shutting Down December 31st

As sticky-fingers noted in our Forum, the servers for NBA 2K20 will be shutting down on December 31st, 2021. After this point, no online features and functionality will be available. This includes roster and Draft Class sharing, Play Now Online, MyTEAM, and MyCAREER and its connected modes.

Contrary to previous games that offered a lightweight version of MyCAREER in offline mode, MyCAREER in NBA 2K20 will no longer be available when the servers are shut down. It’s therefore advisable that you wrap up any business in MyCAREER before online support ends, from gaming to capturing video and screenshots for content creation. Naturally, the same goes for MyTEAM and other online modes.

It would also be a good idea to browse the shared files and download them while you still can. Obviously we’re able to distribute rosters the old fashioned way on PC, but PlayStation 4 and Xbox One gamers will have no way of sharing files after December 31st. Custom team art files in MyLEAGUE and MyGM will also be unavailable, and we’ll no longer be able to import our own images in-game as that requires online support.

To that point, feel free to share any suggestions of rosters and Draft Classes that you believe your fellow gamers will enjoy, and want to preserve. sticky-fingers has noted a few examples already, including Thunder Shaq’s rosters, PCBasket by Shuajota, the retro rosters by RMJH, and some other major projects.

For those who are unaware, 2K increased online support for all of their titles from 18 to 27 months back in 2015, following the controversy with NBA 2K14. This means we can expect the servers for NBA 2K21 and NBA 2K22 to be shut down over the next couple of years. Needless to say, we’ve still got ample time in that regard, but keep those impending server shutdowns in mind if you’re sticking with an older title. Thanks to sticky-fingers for the reminder regarding the shutdown, and the suggested downloads so far!
