NLSC Podcast #327: Gonna Make You Sweat

NLSC Podcast Logo

Episode #327 of the NLSC Podcast is out now! Dee4Three and I are your hosts for this week’s show.

The PlayStation 5 reveal event brought us an Announcement Trailer for NBA 2K21, which gives us plenty to talk about this week! We recap and react to the trailer featuring Zion Williamson, and a whole lot of sweat. In addition to highlighting the parts that appealed to us, we also discuss our concerns, along with the expectations it’s given us for next gen. We also speculate whether the PC version of NBA 2K21 will be a next gen port, or last gen as was the case with NBA 2K14. The trustworthiness of developer blogs and preview media is another issue we’re going to be mindful of this preview season, as we reflect on past controversies. We also consider the impact of next gen NBA 2K21 on the future of NBA Live, and what we can expect from last gen NBA 2K moving forward.

What’s your take on this week’s conversation? Sound off in the comments section below, or join in the discussion here in the Forum! Additionally, feel free to hit us up with any feedback on the episode, as well as suggestions for topics that you’d like to hear us discuss in future episodes. NBA 2K21 Trailer, Official Announcement at PlayStation 5 Event

NBA 2K21 Trailer

The PlayStation 5 reveal event has provided us with more than just a glimpse of the new console, as the very first NBA 2K21 trailer has dropped! It also serves as the game’s official announcement for Fall 2020, as a launch title for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. No other platforms have been confirmed at this time, but presumably it will also be out on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.

Zion Williamson is featured in the trailer, strongly suggesting that he’s going to be the cover player for the game. The footage in the trailer has been taken from the game engine itself, albeit a pre-alpha build. The official NBA 2K Twitter has also teased some of the improvements that we can expect, noting that the game has been “built from the ground up”, and promising “next gen graphics”, “next gen load times”, and “next gen power”.

With the release of the NBA 2K21 trailer, I’ve gone ahead and launched the NBA 2K21 section in our Forum. I’ve also created an article for NBA 2K21 over in our Wiki, and I invite you to help me keep it up to date with the latest details throughout the preview season. I’ll add sections for the game to our Downloads database closer to launch, though depending on which version is ported to PC, it may take a while for modding to get going.

For now, check out the trailer below, or catch it here on YouTube. What are your thoughts on our first glimpse at NBA 2K21? Have your say in the comments below, and join in the discussion here in the Forum! We’ll have more to say about the NBA 2K21 trailer in Episode #326 of the NLSC Podcast, so stay tuned.

NBA 2K21 Wishlist Now Open; Add Your Feedback ASAP!

NBA 2K21 Wishlist Now Open

Our official NBA 2K21 Wishlist topic is now open in the NLSC Forum! This is where we’re compiling feedback to send along to the development team, where it can hopefully be put to good use in this year’s game. We’d like to submit it as soon as we possibly can, so if you’ve got any ideas, start posting them today!

As always, the goal is to compile a comprehensive but concise Wishlist. This means covering new features we’d like to see, ways that gameplay and current modes can improve, and of course, bug reports. Bullet points are best and get the point across quicker than lengthy essays, but at the same time, be detailed. Saying things like “make the gameplay better” and “fix online” doesn’t give the developers much to work with. We need to explain what the problems are, and how we’d like to see them resolved.

The NBA 2K21 Wishlist is also intended to be constructive, so please avoid profanity, personal attacks, and angry rants. Venting is fine elsewhere in the Forum, but when we compile Wishlists, we’re aiming for thoughtful suggestions and criticism. Once we’ve received a good amount of feedback, we’ll compile the official Wishlist and emphasise the most popular wishes.

It’s never guaranteed that we’ll get everything we want, but if we don’t speak up, our voices won’t be heard. Once again, we are looking to submit our Wishlist soon, so start posting your feedback and ideas ASAP!

NLSC Podcast #308: When You Wish Upon A Dev

Episode #308 of the NLSC Podcast is out now! Join Dee4Three and I as we discuss the latest patch for NBA 2K20, and run down our wishlists for NBA 2K21.

A new patch has come through for NBA 2K20 this week, and it’s brought some welcome updates and changes. The nerfing of a cheesy move has naturally proven to be controversial, leading us to reflect on attitudes towards exploits and how 2K should respond to any backlash. We also touch on some recent controversies with VC exploits, and how 2K chose to handle the situation. From there, we dive into this week’s main topic: our NBA 2K21 wishlists. It’s Wishlist Season, and we’ve got plenty to say about what we want to see in this year’s game. From motion systems and balance to roster accuracy and matchmaking, we break down our desired improvements and additions.
