NBA 2K26 Patch 7.0 Released

NBA 2K26 Patch 7.0 Released

Patch 7.0 is out now for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of NBA 2K26. The PC patch will come through on May 15th, in time for the new season. As always, the new update should download automatically as long as you’re online. If it doesn’t, try restarting your console or Steam client, or checking for updates manually.

In addition to preparing NBA 2K26 for Season 7 in MyCAREER and MyTEAM, Patch 7.0 adds the Portland Fire and Toronto Tempo as playable teams in WNBA Quick Play. The uniforms and floors for all WNBA teams have also been updated for the 2026 season. Additionally, drive transitions from standing step back moves have been refined so as to be more realistic, and an issue with the NBA Cup in MyNBA when using a custom schedule has been resolved.

You can check out the official patch notes below, as well as in the NBA 2K26 update history in our Wiki. I’ve also added the notes for Patch 6.2, a small update that I missed when it came through back on April 20th. Feel free to share any thoughts on the latest patch in the comments below, as well as join in the discussion here in the Forum!

NBA 2K26 Patch 6.0 Released

NBA 2K26 Patch 6.0 Released

Patch 6.0 is out now for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of NBA 2K26. The PC patch will be out on Friday in time for the tip-0ff of Season 6. As always, the update should come through automatically as long as you’re online. If it doesn’t, try restarting your console or Steam client, or checking for updates manually.

We’re at the point of the release cycle where NBA 2K26 is considered to be more or less in its final state – seasonal content updates aside – so Patch 6.0 predictably doesn’t include any major changes or fixes. The new patch is mostly just preparing NBA 2K26 for Season 6 in MyCAREER and MyTEAM, but it does include a handful of player likeness updates.

The full patch notes can be found below, and I’ve also added them to the NBA 2K26 update history in our Wiki. Feel free to share any thoughts in the comments, as well as join in the discussion here in the Forum.

NBA 2K26 Patch 5.1 Released

NBA 2K26 Patch 5.1 Released

Patch 5.1 is now available for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of NBA 2K26. It should come through automatically as long as you’re online. If it doesn’t, try restarting your console, or checking for updates manually. The following statement accompanied the release of Patch 5.1 for NBA 2K26:

Protecting fair play and competitive integrity is a core priority for NBA 2K. We know how frustrating it is when games are disrupted by players who choose to cheat, and we’ve been actively monitoring emerging exploits.

Update 5.1 on PlayStation®5 and Xbox Series X|S adds new protections against network manipulation, including measures designed to combat intentional “lag switching” tactics used to gain an unfair advantage. These protections apply across online multiplayer modes such as Park, The Theater, and The REC.

This update is now available and includes a required patch download and additional live updates. Please fully close and relaunch the game to ensure the latest changes are applied.

Anti-cheat efforts are ongoing as behaviors evolve. We’ll continue testing and evaluating additional protections focused on reducing the most impactful forms of cheating, and we’re committed to the long-term work of keeping competition fair for players who respect the game.

The PC version of already includes its own anti-cheat measures, which is presumably why Patch 5.1 only came through on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. In any case, these details have been added to the NBA 2K26 update history in our Wiki. Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments, as well as join in the discussion of NBA 2K26’s official patches here in the Forum.

As always, it should come through automatically as long as you’re online. If it doesn’t, try restarting your console or Steam client, or checking for updates manually.

Unlike the mysterious update back in December, we do actually have patch notes this time around. In addition to preparing NBA 2K26 for Season 4 in MyTEAM and MyCAREER, Patch 4.0 includes new RealVoice player interviews, likeness updates, and corrections to classic jerseys. There are also technical fixes for issues throughout the game modes, and a couple of PC-specific updates to improve performance.

NBA 2K26 Patch 3.1 Released; No Notes

NBA 2K26 Patch 3.1 Released; No Notes

Patch 3.1 (also referred to as Patch 1.012) came through for NBA 2K26 this week, specifically for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC version of the game. As always, it should download automatically as long as you’re online. If it doesn’t, try restarting your console or Steam client, or checking for updates manually.

Much to the chagrin of NBA 2K26 gamers, there have been no official release notes for Patch 3.1 thus far. We can assume the usual assortment of unspecified “stability fixes”, and it reportedly addresses an issue related to Virtual Currency as well. Additionally, gifts are now available under the Christmas tree in The City in MyCAREER, so it’s quite likely that some seasonal content was also included in the patch. While 2K has occasionally neglected to be forthcoming with significant patch notes in the past, in this case it’s probably an indication that it’s a smaller update that primarily consists of hotfixes and live service content.

If any official patch notes are released, I’ll be sure to post them. In the meantime, I’ve added the release dates for Patch 3.1 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC  to the NBA 2K26 update history in our Wiki, along with some generic placeholder notes. Feel free to share any impressions in the comments below, as well as join in the discussion here in the Forum!

NBA 2K26 Patch 3.0 Released

NBA 2K26 Patch 3.0 Released

Patch 3.0 is now available for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S version of NBA 2K26, and will be out on PC on November 28th in time for the tip-off of Season 3. As always, it should come through automatically as long as you’re online. If it doesn’t, try restarting your console or Steam client – come the 28th in the case of the latter – or checking for updates manually.

In addition to preparing NBA 2K26 for Season 3 in MyCAREER and MyTEAM, Patch 3.0 includes more player likeness updates and technical fixes. It also adds support for the NBA’s new heave rule, and addresses an issue with 3-second violations in The City’s game modes. Apart from that, there have been no major changes to the gameplay. Additionally, the PC update will also include further optimisation tweaks for better stability and performance.

NLSC Podcast #602: That’s No Way To Treat A Customer

NLSC Podcast Logo

From courtside of the virtual hardwood, it’s Episode #602 of the NLSC Podcast!

Customer service, value for money, and quality products are topics that are on our minds this week. This comes in the wake of an eBay purchase that unfortunately became a deeply unpleasant transaction. After sharing that horror story, we do have some far more positive news about a successful upgrade to Windows 11, with old favourites still being playable on the new OS. We also discuss the big patch for NBA 2K26 failing to make the game better (and indeed, arguably making it worse). As we point out, some of the changes also have financial ramifications for MyCAREER and MyTEAM gamers. The show wraps up with some quick 2026 NBA predictions, though we’re admittedly still more excited to watch classic games.

To get involved with the mailbag or to provide any feedback on the show, hit us up in the comments, reach out on social media, or post here in the NLSC Forum! For more information on the NLSC Podcast including episode guides, check out this page in our Wiki. You can also find the show on our YouTube channel, along with the rest of our video content. As always, thanks for tuning in, and go get buckets!

NBA 2K26 Patch 2.1 Released

NBA 2K26 Patch 2.1 Released

Patch 2.1 is now available for the PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X versions of NBA 2K26. As always, it should come through automatically as long as you’re online. If it doesn’t, try restarting your console or Steam client, or checking for updates manually.

Basically, this is a minor follow-up to the previous patch. To that end, it includes all of the fixes and content updates that were in Patch 2.0, while addressing a couple of further issues. Notably, it also reverses a major change to the ball collision sensitivity that was made in the previous update, based on community feedback. The full patch notes are as follows:

  • Returned the ball collision sensitivity on escape dribble moves to pre-Patch 2.0 levels based on community feedback. The improved responsiveness for well-timed, intentional steal attempts remains.
  • Updated the shot meter to properly reflect the green window bonuses of the Poster Machine Takeover Ability.
  • Resolved a reported hang that could occur when attempting to load a MyCAREER save.
  • Fixed a hang following a press conference in the Out of Bounds story.

I’ve added the details for Patch 2.1 to the NBA 2K26 update history in our Wiki. Feel free to share any impressions in the comments below, as well as join in the discussion here in the Forum!

Season 2 is set to tip off in MyTEAM and MyCAREER this Friday, and as previously promised, it’s brought the first major update for NBA 2K26. NBA 2K26 Modded IFF Fixer Released

NBA 2K26 Standard Edition Cover Art

One of the biggest challenges with NBA 2K modding since NBA 2K15 has been keeping tools and mods themselves working with games as they’re updated. The latest patch for NBA 2K26 has caused some issues with getting modded IFF files to work, as the game is now stricter about file structures, specifically certain compression formats. To that end, Looyh has created a tool that will get those custom files working once again.

In addition to allowing everyone to use mods as normal, the tool is also useful for modders who want to ensure that their future releases will work in the wake of Patch 1.4. As Looyh notes, it’s unclear if this is just a temporary situation caused by the latest update, as the change appears to have been made for better efficiency when loading files. In any case, we now have the Fixer tool to get modded IFF files working again in NBA 2K26.

You can pick it up here in our Downloads database! A big thanks as always to Looyh for all the work he does for NBA 2K modding. In case you missed it, Looyh’s File Explorer tool for NBA 2K26 was also released a couple of weeks ago, and can be downloaded here.

NBA 2K26 Patch 1.4 Released

NBA 2K26 Patch 1.4 Released

Patch 1.4 is now available for NBA 2K26. As always, it should come through automatically as long as your PC, PlayStation 5, or Xbox Series X is online. If it doesn’t, try restarting your console or Steam client, or checking for updates manually.

As with other recent updates, Patch 1.4 doesn’t touch gameplay in NBA 2K26. However, it does address a few more user-reported issues concerning stability in The City, matchmaking, and tracking Daily Challenges. It also further optimises GPU performance in the PC version.

Check out the full patch notes below, as well as in the NBA 2K26 update history in our Wiki. Feel free to share any impressions in the comments, as well as join in the discussion here in the NLSC Forum. Additionally, for some excellent tips on how to get the most out of NBA 2K26’s gameplay, be sure to tune in to Episode #597 of the NLSC Podcast!
