Developer Blog: Sounds of NBA Live 15

NBA Live 15 may now be available in stores, but the producers are still providing some insight into the development of the game through blogs over on the official website. The latest blog, titled Sounds of NBA Live 15, talks about creating the atmosphere in this year’s game, and what went into capturing all the arena sounds.

The blog mentions that the team researched team-specific crowd chants, arena-specific music and sound effects, and even announcer sound bites. They would then mic up the entire arena, capturing audio in true 7.1 Surround Sound with three different microphone arrays. These multiple audio perspectives subsequently allowed them to mix arena sound based on which gameplay camera is being used.

Check out the blog for the full insight, and feel free to add your thoughts in the comments section below, as well as in this thread in our NBA Live 15 Forum.

Latest NBA Live 15 Roster; Feedback Thread

A new official roster has been pushed through for NBA Live 15, updating lineups, adding missing players, and adjusting some player ratings. After combing through the rosters, it appears as though the only missing player is Kalin Lucas of the Memphis Grizzlies, who was likely signed after the update was finalised. A few jersey numbers are also incorrect, but other than that the rosters are basically accurate, especially compared to last year’s updates which were missing a few players throughout the season.

For those who are unaware, Synergy data is updated shortly after games conclude in real life, but the manual roster updates – which add new players and adjust the ratings that aren’t driven by Synergy – would appear to be coming through on a weekly basis. For anyone who’s wondering, adjusted ratings appear in yellow on the team roster listings.

Fernando, the producer in charge of the roster updates for NBA Live 15, is currently keeping tabs on the Forum for any feedback, which you can post in this stickied thread. Whether it’s incorrect jersey numbers or other player data, missing players, ratings, or accessories that need to be changed, any constructive feedback on the rosters is welcome there.

NLSC Podcast – Episode #101

NLSC Podcast Logo

Episode #101 is out now, hosted by Arcane and myself! Despite my obsession with the Fallout series, I resisted the temptation to make a Fallout 3 reference. The Friday Five: 5 Early Impressions of NBA Live 15

The Friday Five

Welcome to this week’s edition of The Friday Five! This is a feature that I post every Friday in which I give my thoughts on a topic that’s related to basketball video games, the real NBA or another area of interest to our community, either as a list of five items or in the form of a Top 5 countdown.

NBA Live 15 is available now – on shelves and in digital format – and in the short time that it’s been out, gamers have been sharing their views on this year’s release from EA Sports. On the whole, the reception seems to be more positive than last year, with a lot of gamers feeling that while there’s still much work to be done, NBA Live 15 represents a noteworthy step up from NBA Live 14.

Personally, I’m inclined to agree with that sentiment. I certainly have my criticisms, and would like to see continued improvement in all areas of the game, but I’ve also enjoyed my time with it so far, and have seen quite a few things that I do like. I’ll be sharing plenty of detailed thoughts on NBA Live 15 in the coming weeks, but for this week’s Friday Five, I thought that I’d discuss some of my initial impressions of this year’s game. So, without any further ado, here are my thoughts on NBA Live 15 after the first few days of playing it.

The Friday Five: My To Do List for NBA Live 15

The Friday Five

Welcome to this week’s edition of The Friday Five! This is a feature that I post every Friday in which I give my thoughts on a topic that’s related to basketball video games, the real NBA or another area of interest to our community, either as a list of five items or in the form of a Top 5 countdown.

Putting aside the EA Access trial on Xbox One, NBA Live 15 is finally out next week: October 28th in North America, and October 30th here in Australia. Just as I compiled a To Do list for NBA 2K15 shortly before it was released, I also have a few things in mind to do as soon as I get my hands on this year’s instalment of NBA Live. So – just in case you were still wondering where I’m going with this – that’s what I’m talking about in this week’s Friday Five.

I expect that there’ll be some overlap with my list for NBA 2K15, as the key points of interest are fairly similar, and I have something of a routine that I follow when I’m playing a new basketball game for the first time. So, without any further ado, here is my To Do List for NBA Live 15!
