  2. Kevin Durant (96 overall)

  • We recap a huge amount of NBA 2K16 news, including a new trailer, and several in-depth developer blogs. Has it moved the needle on our excitement for NBA 2K16?
  • New content for NBA Live 15 and NBA 2K15 is slowing to a halt, and we’re finding that we’re just about ready to move on. Still, we have been spending some time with last year’s games as of late.
  • The Atlanta Hawks are retiring Dikembe Mutombo’s #55, so we reflect on some of our favourite Mutombo Moments.

Top 5 Shooting Guards in NBA Live 16

Top 5 Shooting Guards in NBA Live 16

The ratings reveals for NBA Live 16 continue, as the top five shooting guards in this year’s game have been announced. The players and their overall ratings are as follows:

  1. James Harden (95 overall)
  2. Klay Thompson (91 overall)
  3. Kobe Bryant (89 overall)
  4. Jimmy Butler (89 overall)
  5. Dwyane Wade (88 overall)

The article also goes into detail about some of their specific ratings, explaining how they came to have their overall ratings that they do. Notably, James Harden is the fastest shooting guard in the game, while Kobe Bryant unsurprisingly has the highest Clutch rating.

Screenshots of four of the top five shooting guards were also posted; check them out below, or here in our NBA Live 16 screenshots gallery. As James Harden is one of the cover players for NBA 2K16, he is the only player on the list not to have a screenshot. EA had to take similar measures last year during their ratings reveals, only showing a screenshot of Kevin Durant’s shoes in articles where he was featured.

More ratings reveals appear to be on the way, leading up to the release of the NBA Live 16 demo on September 15th, and the full game on September 29th. What do you make of the top five shooting guards? Sound off in the comments below, and feel free to join in the discussion here in the NBA Live 16 section of the NLSC Forum.

Top 6 Point Guards in NBA Live 16

NBA Live 16: Top 6 Point Guards

On a more positive note in the wake of the GameFace HD app being delayed, EA Sports have begun their ratings reveals for NBA Live 16. They’ve tipped things off by revealing the overall ratings for the top six point guards in the game; not surprisingly, NBA Live 16 cover player Russell Westbrook is among them (and not without good reason). The top six point guards are as follows:

  • Chris Paul (95 overall)
  • Russell Westbrook (94 overall)
  • Stephen Curry (94 overall)
  • Kyrie Irving (90 overall)
  • John Wall (90 overall)
  • Damian Lillard (90 overall)

In addition to the overall ratings, a few specific ratings have been revealed for those six players. EA also posted a few new screenshots; you can check those out below, as well as in our NBA Live 16 screenshots gallery.

Presumably, there’ll be a few more ratings reveals coming our way before the NBA Live 16 demo drops on September 15th. Speaking of player ratings, we’ll be maintaining a thread in the Forum once again this year, to provide EA with feedback on the roster updates.

In the meantime, feel free to share your opinions on the first ratings reveal in the comments section below, as well as take the discussion to the NBA Live 16 section of the NLSC Forum!

NBA Live 16 GameFace HD App Delayed

NBA Live 16 GameFace HD

The GameFace HD companion app for NBA Live 16, which was originally intended to launch today, has unfortunately been delayed by at least a few days. It doesn’t seem as though we should expect any further delays however, as EA Sports announced via the official NBA Live Twitter account that they anticipate releasing the app later this week.

For those who are unaware, the GameFace HD app will allow you to scan your face into NBA Live 16 for use in Rising Star and LIVE Pro-Am, and is set to be released for both Android and iOS devices. It will also be compatible with the NBA Live 16 demo, which is currently slated for release on September 15th. Should you pick up the full version of NBA Live 16 on September 29th, you’ll be able to make use of your scanned face, and any progress you’ve made in the demo will carry over.

We’ll be sure to post any updates on the release of the GameFace HD app for NBA Live 16 as they’re made available. As always, feel free to share any thoughts you may have on the news in the comments below, as well as in the NBA Live 16 section of the NLSC Forum.

NBA Live 16 Soundtrack Revealed

NBA Live 16 Soundtrack, Curated by MICK

EA Sports has revealed the soundtrack for NBA Live 16, which has once again been curated by MICK. As with the mixtapes for NBA Live 14 and NBA Live 15, the NBA Live 16 soundtrack features a selection of underground and up-and-coming artists. Once again, users will be able to create individual playlists for each of the game modes, as well as the main menu.

You can check out the full NBA Live 16 soundtrack below, as well as here in our Wiki. If you’d like to listen to all the tracks before the game drops, tune in to this Spotify playlist. Dime Magazine has also posted an interview with MICK, which you can read here.

Incidentally, the NBA Live 16 soundtrack has been named as the latest reason to play NBA Live 16 over on the official website. Any thoughts on the soundtrack? Share them in the comments below, and as always, feel free to take the discussion to the NBA Live 16 section of the NLSC Forum!

  • The first proper gameplay trailer for NBA 2K16 has dropped. Do we feel hyped?
  • Last week delivered us a huge amount of information on MyLEAGUE, MyLEAGUE Online, and MyGM. Naturally, it all came through after we wrapped up last week’s episode, but we’re happy to get it nevertheless.
  • We discuss a few other NBA 2K16 news and notes, including changes to ratings, and the latest retro teams to be confirmed.

NBA Live 16 Screenshots, Video Clip, & Pre-Order Bonuses

High resolution screenshots of the final two LIVE Pro-Am courts in NBA Live 16 – Venice Beach and Seattle Pacific University – have been released during the past couple of days. You can check both of them out below, as well as over in our NBA Live 16 screenshots gallery.

EA Sports has also posted another quick clip showing off some of the customisation options in Rising Star and LIVE Pro-Am, this time spotlighting one of the important aspects of basketball culture: shoes. You can check out that clip below, or catch it here on YouTube if you can’t see the embedded video.

Finally, listings on GameStop and the PlayStation Store have confirmed the pre-order bonuses for NBA Live 16. Gamers who pre-order this year’s release will receive a LIVE Ultimate Team Pro Pack every week for ten weeks. This is dependant on the user logging in to LUT each week and opening their pack, so unlike previous years where the pre-order packs were delivered on day one, it will be possible to miss out on your bonuses if you’re not firing up the game each week. Additionally, gamers who pre-order NBA Live 16 will receive a custom theme, according to the PSN listing.

That’s all the NBA Live 16 news we have for the moment, but more should be on the way very soon. As always, if you have any thoughts, feel free to share them in the comments below, as well as join in the discussion here in the Forum!

EA Sports has also posted a video of the Tattoo Shop in NBA Live 16, spotlighting the choice of tattoos in this year’s game. Examiner.com Interview with NBA Live 16 Executive Producer Sean O’Brien

Examiner.com recently conducted an interview with NBA Live 16 Executive Producer, Sean O’Brien. It doesn’t provide much in the way of new information about this year’s game, but it does offer some insights into the creative process, and the development team’s aims with NBA Live 16.

Notably, Sean speaks highly of the feedback that the development team receives from basketball gamers, from members of the EA GameChangers program to one on one feedback with the NBA Live community. He once again stresses that NBA Live 16 is being made “for (their) fans”.

Sean also discusses LIVE Pro-Am, describing an aim of not only making a game that is a solid basketball simulation, but also a social and competitive online experience. He also touts the RPG-style elements in LIVE Pro-Am, given its integration with Rising Star.

NLSC Podcast – Episode #125

NLSC Podcast Logo

We’re back…again! And with any luck, there won’t be any further interruptions for some time. Tune in to Episode #125 of the NLSC Podcast, where Arcane and I discuss the latest NBA Live 16 and NBA 2K16 news and previews, a couple of recent events in the NBA, and my trip to the EA Tiburon studio in Orlando back in July.

On this week’s show…

  • Andrew tips off the show with some thanks for the key folks who got him to Orlando to take part in the NBA Live 16 community event back in July. Lots of impressions and information coming, once clearance is granted!
  • One aspect of NBA Live 16 that can be discussed at this time is the recently announced LIVE Pro-Am. Andrew follows up on his hands-on impressions with further thoughts, while Arcane has some hands-off impressions.
  • A few screenshots and quick video clips have also been released, in addition to the trailer for LIVE Pro-Am. We talk about how well NBA Live 16 is shaping up, visually speaking.
  • On a less positive note, we react to the absence of custom rosters and roster editing in NBA Live 16. Might it be patched in?
  • 2K has also announced Pro-Am for NBA 2K16. We give our thoughts on 2K’s take on the concept, and the unfortunate situation of both modes having the same name.
  • We’ve also had a glimpse of NBA 2K16 by way of some video clips on social media, screenshots, and the digital shorts narrated by Spike Lee.
  • What do we make of the criticism that NBA 2K16’s graphics haven’t shown enough improvement?
  • We discuss the latest retro teams to be announced for NBA 2K16, and make a couple of predictions as to which teams might be announced next.
  • Speaking of retro basketball, Andrew has picked up a few more old school games. This leads to a comparison of collections.
  • This week’s NBA discussion includes a few more thoughts on the new jersey designs, Tristan Thompson’s continued free agency, and some very bad news for Dante Exum.
  • We wrap up Episode #125 of the NLSC Podcast with a bold prediction from Charles Barkley.

If you haven’t already hit us up with some questions, be sure to post them in this thread ASAP. We’ll be looking to get some insight into the situation with the lack of custom rosters, clarification on some of the finer details of NBA Live 16, and much more, so be on the lookout for those interviews in the not too distant future!
