Face Scanning Coming to NBA 2K17 PC

NBA 2K17: A Cutscene in MyCAREER

Good news, PC gamers! After it appeared as though the PC version of NBA 2K17 would miss out on the ability to scan in MyPLAYER faces through the MyNBA2K17 app, it appears as though that functionality will not be restricted to the consoles after all.

Chris Manning (aka LD2K) has confirmed that PC users will be able to use the MyNBA2K17 app to scan their faces into NBA 2K17 come the Early Tip-Off Weekend, September 16th.

PlayStation 4 and Xbox One users can already scan their faces and make use of them in The Prelude, the free downloadable experience that offers a head start on MyCAREER and some early hands-on time with the game. The Prelude is not available for PC, but it’s great to hear that the PC will not be left out in the cold in terms of face scanning.

Last year, a patch added face scanning functionality to NBA 2K16 PC, however it only supported devices with Intel RealSense cameras. Until today’s announcement, it seemed as though that would be the only face scanning option in NBA 2K17 PC, but fortunately for gamers who aren’t looking to buy a new laptop or all-in-one PC, that won’t be the case.

Thanks to LD2K for the good news, and to zzcoolj21 for the heads up in the Forum!

Thank you NBA2K God! I was more than upset thinking we were getting shafted!

Great news! I was considering not purchasing this year on PC if face scan wasn’t available. Hopefully it’s not glitchy.
