Can you identify these files?

Postby Culture Games on Tue Mar 19, 2019 8:21 am

dxupdate.dll
dxgi.dll?

What do they do? I had to remove them because of a weird popup I started getting called The procedure entry point CreateDXGIFactory2 could not be located

I had to remove those files to allow my game to launch again. But what are they for? Will I need them?

Those sound like DirectX files to me. Normally I'd think you need them, but if the game is launching and running fine without them, perhaps not.

Try a google search. It is probably for SweetFx or ENB or some other graphical enhancement. I have these files in a SweetFx folder wich I use JSGME to enable/disable.

i have a separate folder of original files when you first install 2k14, I did not see them so it is ok to remove them. I saw dxgi is one of the files for the enb effects, not sure about dxupdate.

From what I've read, this is an issue when trying to use a graphics enhancer mod (ENB/SweetFX) after the recent Windows update. I get a similar error every time I try to run the game with the mods installed, but once I remove them, 2K14 runs just fine. I'm not sure how to fix this, but for now graphics mods aren't compatible until a fix is found.
