Directx problem

Postby tinpanalley on Wed Dec 30, 2020 3:15 am

I keep getting these errors when I start the game. Any idea what I can do to clear it up?
It happened when I removed SweetFX from the URB mod.

I think you have to remove the dxgi file as well....

Did you make a backup of your original NBA 2K14 folder? Have you tried verifying your game cache through steam? (Note, before you do that I would backup your current NBA 2K14 main folder...)

Yeah, I did remove dxgi already. Of course I didn't back up my original folder. But I can reinstall to another drive I suppose and then just copy over the install folder. Didn't do anything through Steam because I didn't want to mess with the install. I ALWAYS use JSGME. This time I didn't just because I was testing out something. And because I'm a moron.

Looks like a reshade/sweetfx/enb issue

Delete dll in 2K14 main folder.
If it still dont work, you can reinstall Directx from DVD files or from Redist subfolder in mostly all Steam games installed on your computer.

Yea, makes sense Sticky. I remember having the same issue for the same reasons when I was really into 2k14 modding

I deleted dll.
Didn't know about reinstalling DirectX but I just figured with all the games I've installed I already have every DX necessary. How do I do the redist folder install?

I never had to reinstall direct x... I just had to remove the files from the folder.

Did you try organizing by date modified in order to locate ALL the files associated with the graphics mods?

I've tried with help here to identify the graphics elements, wasn't able to figure it out. I also asked in the URB mod thread how to remove all graphics enhancements but got no response. Of course a mod is at the generosity of the modder and I would never dream of pointing fingers at a free mod but I would imagine a graphic enhancement free version would be appreciated by lots of people.

They dont have sweetfx, or any other graphics mods in the URB besides the Global, and the global is not the problem.

Try verifying your game cache through steam after backing up the folder. I can almost guarantee that will work, because it will restore missing and necessary files.

If that doesnt work, I recommend reinstalling the game entirely.

Oh... well then that would explain the silence I got. They must have thought I was nuts.
Ok, I think a full reinstall is in order. Good opportunity to properly use JSGME this time.
