NBA 2k14 on M1 Macs

Postby artvandelay04 on Sat Nov 06, 2021 3:33 am

Hello,

Has anybody tried running NBA 2k14 on M1 chips via Parallels?

I'm currently running 2K14 on an intel MacBook via Parallels. I'm considering getting one of the new M1 Pro MacBooks that use the ARM architecture. The new version of Parallels can run Windows ARM on these machines and I have seen reports of people running some x86 games as well. I am wondering if anybody has tried running 2k14 on M1 chips.

Any feedback would e greatly appreciated.

Yes i run 2k14 on my Mac M1 via the Paulthetall conversion program. Not sure what you call it but its basically a wrapper for the game. Works great. Can get into the game structure and load into the mod files.

PS3 controllers don't work on the M1 Mac, only Ps4 controllers do. Maybe XBOX do but i only have tried the PS controllers.

Assuming the Parallels method will work as well. If not, go with Paul the Tall - it's a free program, you just need a legit version of 2k14 from steam.

Thanks so much for the info. Could you please confirm your Mac specs? MacBook Pro or MacBook Air? Processor (M1, M1 Pro, M2), how much RAM?

To confirm I was able to run NBA 2K14 on Apple Silicon via Parallels Desktop for Mac 18. The game runs very well. I'm getting around 100 fps. My machine is a MacBook Pro with the M2 Pro processor and 16 GB of RAM.

Do you mind exposing to me how you did that? I went through the site, but am still confused on what exactly to do.

I'm no expert - but you need to download the porting kit from paulthetall - you then download/create a 2k14 app file within that porting tool.

Read the instructions here - Once you wrap your head around it its not that hard - you do need to purchase 2k14 from the Steam App so you've got a licence key for it.

https://www.portingkit.com/about

I purchased 2k14 from Steam so i watched this vid and worked it out.

In order i believe you download the porting kit / Download/create the 2k14 app file via the porting kit / then launch that - which takes you to Steam - you purchase the game and download it.

I did it ages ago but watch this vid below

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PEJU_F7lxsk

Once done, you do launch to play or add mod files from finder on your mac - When you add mod files - you just right like on the app file and click 'show package files' then navigate through to the NBA2k14 folder (within the Steamapps folder i believe) then you drop all the files in.

For Roster files, again, right click and open package contents and navigate through the 'USER' folder and keep going until you find the 2k14 file - NOTE: You need to launch the game first for this folder to appear though, then exit and add the MOD roster files.

Good luck.
