You can go back through this topic and see the issue discussed at length. Many of us have been using it for years with no problems. It's the only version of the program and anywhere you download it from will trigger a false positive like that, so the only alternative is to not use it at all. It's just the way it calls back to Vlad's site to check for updates and whatnot.
As a comparison, a lot of anti-virus software flags
NirSoft's Mail PassView utility as dangerous because of the way it works to recover passwords from email software installed on your PC, but it's safe (and in my work, very handy when setting up new PCs for customers). The problem is that part of its programming, the way it obtains that information from the data files, is similar to how viruses work, which is why it gets pinged. I've even had an anti-virus try to block Windows Update before; they're not always right and can be overzealous. It's not always a bad thing because it is being done for your protection, but it can cause worry or interfere in situations where it shouldn't.
