Step by step on how to create custom arenas for NBA 2K11 + 14 (Probably works for 10,12 and 13 too)

Just a few tips to add to DaCrispy's tutorial. The NBA Mod tool shows the file type (DTX1, DXT5) and resolution in the lower left corner so you will know how to save the DDS files properly. The tool also organizes the files. I use this information to save my work in progress. If the file is advertising signage you can use a descriptive name as DaCrispy did or you can save the name as the texture listed in the tool. Ex. 4 0.dds This is texture 4 subfile 0. This way you can figure out where to import the edited DDS file easily. You don't have to remember where the destination for the file is. And there is less typing and no remembering.

I also prefer to save my work in progress in a layered format so I can edit or reuse the file easily. Save as PSD in Photoshop or PSPimage in Paint Shop Pro. GIMP has it's own native file format. This will come in handy if you use the edited stadium for another team. It make it easy to change colors of seats or change the advertising. Then save this file as a DDS for importing.

Some scoreboards have text for the home team that can be edited (ex HORNETS or HOME). Some backboards have text on top of the backboard. Usually the team website. I usually try to replace any team identity images and NBA references if you are editing for a college or international stadium. If you have the talent the seatback colors for the team bench can be changed. The banners hanging from the roof can also be edited. It all depends on how picky you are.
