NBA Live 97 on Windows XP, running perfect

Postby joejam999 on Sun Mar 31, 2019 6:05 pm

I just tried running Live '97 on XP for the first time and got this error
"initmemmansize - failed to allocate memory block file win\initmem.c line 226"

Not sure if this is common? But here is how I fixed it. Go into control panel/system/advanced tab. Then under Performance, go into settings then the advanced tab. At the bottom you will see virtual memory, click change. Choose custom size and put 32 in both boxes and click set. Restart windows and Live '97 should run perfectly. Also, make sure you are not running with compatibility settings, it causes problems in the game.

If all else fails, you can run the DOS version of NBA Live 97 in DOSBox.

They do seem to run (and look) about the same. I tried it on XP thinking maybe the in-game graphics might be better on windows.

From memory they're about the same. Unfortunately I'm running 64-bit Windows these days, so DOSBox is my only option unless I fire up my Virtual Machine.
