RIP Cliff Robinson

Because 2020 isn't through with us yet. The weekend was already a downer with the news of actor Chadwick Boseman's passing, but now we've lost Cliff Robinson as well.

Cliff Robinson, a former NBA All-Star and the 1993 Sixth Man of the Year, has died at the age of 53, the UConn Huskies confirmed Saturday.

Robinson, known for his trademark headband, spent 19 seasons in the NBA with the Portland Trail Blazers, Phoenix Suns, Detroit Pistons, Golden State Warriors and New Jersey Nets. He made the 1994 NBA All-Star Game and was named to two NBA All-Defensive second teams while averaging 14.6 points and 4.6 rebounds in 1,380 career games -- the 13th-most in NBA history.

That's what killed my mother in 2003, Andrew.

So sad about Cliff....RIP

The basketball world also lost coach Lute Olson...

Colon cancer is what killed my grandmother in 2001, a few short months before I took over the NLSC, so the Chadwick Boseman news hit hard for me for similar reasons. Again, awful diseases. 2020 has indeed been a miserable year all around.

I just saw that. Damn it, 2020...

As I said on Twitter, what a tremendous human being, who shaped the lives and careers of many great players. Being a 90s kid, I also remember his appearance as himself on Hangin' With Mr Cooper. It's been years since I've seen it, but I remember it being pretty funny. RIP.
